A couple days ago, we heard that an update for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus was coming "soon", but the news didn't say exactly what update we were going to see. Now we know, and it's good news everyone. It looks like the Verizon Galaxy Nexus is about to get Android 4.2.2, as the update has rolled out to testers...

My daughter has owned one since Aug. Her phone has never received any OTA updates. It is still running ICS. I have finally convinced her to let me root it, but she doesn't want any custom ROMs. Where can I find the latest OTA that would work?

"I have finally convinced her to let me root it..."
Clever girl, feels the risk that daddy may brick her phone. :D
I think XDA Developers would be better place to ask such question, I'm sure there you will find more information and help related with rooting and other similar things. :)

Ron if you just Google Verizon OTA 4.1.1 or you can look on YouTube there are a tons of videos that show how to force the update to her phone. I hope this helps you and your daughter out.

That's not what he meant. She is OK with root but she wants a completely STOCK ROM and not a custom one. I agree though with looking at XDA to get some knowledge before bricking a phone.

I understand that NOW she is not agains a root, but as I understood, according to this part of sentence she WAS against a root before she WAS CONVINCED:
"I have finally convinced her to let me root it..."
And only then she talks about her conditions:
"...but she doesn't want any custom ROMs."

T-Mobile... is total trash....no matter what they do they can't stop the bleeding out their a$$

T-Mobile is not trash - Sprint is. Satisfied customer averaging 20+Mbps downloads and paying $120 for unlimited EVERTHING for two phones. :')

Same here on Verizon and Sprint, except the LTE speeds on both are more like 30mbps. Paying more than that for Verizon and my employer pays for my Sprint phone. I wouldn't call Sprint trash, they went through what AT&T went through when the iPhone launched and they are fixing it just as AT&T did.
As far as TMO goes, their service is fast and cheap but only if you are in a metro area, just on the fringe of a city and you're on Edge, literally.

I'll believe it when I see it. Though this is a step forward.

Verizon I doubt anyone will buy a Nexus branded device from you again after this.

Thanks for all of the comments but, shouldn't I just take her phone back to verizon? Obviously there is something wrong with the phone.
