That's the real definition of "Features" , take note competition...

yea i think the new clock was the best new feature up there.

I like everything except for the tablet change.
I really don't like how the on-screen buttons move around the screen depending on orientation. I'd like my home and back buttons to be in the excact same place on the device, no matter the orientation. I thought that the "action" bar took up enough space to start with, but now we have another bar that takes up even more space?!!? No me gusta nada.
All the other features are great.
Widgets on the lockscreen would be great as well as the quick settings.
But most of all, the Gmail update will be the most welcomed. I hope that more devices get this. Gmail is really annoying with having to horizontally scroll.

i doubt that, since 4.1 is still not popular i non nexus devices

true that. where would android be without the developer community?
27. sgogeta4 posted on 30 Oct 2012, 08:29 9 0
They'd be like Apple's.

CM'd my TF101 this weekend, loving it.

Yeah, those are really nice things Google did. But where is the point if my Galaxy Note, that is not even a year old, runs Ice Cream Sandwich for the rest of its days...?
For half of the users, Android still means Gingerbread.
9. TheLibertine posted on 30 Oct 2012, 06:59 6 26
Mine. Now i am smarter and stick with non-Android devices.
25. TylerGrunter posted on 30 Oct 2012, 08:28 12 3
You could do us a favor and stick to non-Android articles for commenting. It will be much appreciated.
28. sgogeta4 posted on 30 Oct 2012, 08:30 7 1
For the majority of people, you don't need to upgrade your phone. For the rest of us, it's called root and do it yourself.

He has a valid point..
This is one area that Apple does well.. makes the latest OS updates available to just about everyone. The best thing Apple did was to avoid having OS update be carrier approved.
I would LOVE it if Google could somehow adopt this model.

He has and he has not... The note is not for sure if it will get an update to JB or not, and if he doesn't intend to buy any Android device any more: why is he posting in an article dedicated to JB?
By the way: I know he is only an Apple troll that spends more time starting flame wars than doing any good comment. Therefore my comment to him.
52. TylerGrunter posted on 05 Nov 2012, 11:22 0 0
By the way: Google has that model> buy a Nexus and problem solved, you'll get the updates pretty fast.
50. cfprelude posted on 31 Oct 2012, 08:04 0 0
horrible logic.... i have an OG Droid with ICS on it. Show me an original iPhone or even a 3G with 6.0 on it....? And if your Note is still running ICS thats only your fault.
13. SuperAndroidEvo posted on 30 Oct 2012, 07:03 9 2
Root your phone today & you can have Android 4.1.2 on your Samsung Galaxy Note. On the 13th of November Google should release the source for Android 4.2 meaning that you will have Android 4.2 about a week later (if that long, it can be as short as 3 days), thanks to root.
So please do yourself a favor & root your Samsung Galaxy Note.

My galaxy S is nearly 2 years old, sammy stopped at 2.3 but thanks to Cyanogen Mod 9 i've 4.0.4 :D...

Its not googles fault its samsung and Carries. they need to speed up the process.
Google cannot stop developing android and wait for OEM's to catch up

Oh thats new! I my dad has an iPhone 4 and guess what? It doesn't have siri... We also have an iPad 2 at home and guess what? Again no siri...
53. TylerGrunter posted on 05 Nov 2012, 11:26 0 0
Just to prove you wrong (yet again) with your "opinions". NO, your Galaxy Note taht is not even a year old will get JB at least:

And if you want faster updates in Android you can install custom rooms or to go Nexus, all the choices are for you take.

My girlfriend asked me a question the other day, "Would we reach a time that no more new feature can be created anymore?" I actually think there might be a time that we might hit that point, but I probably won't be living anymore.

Pleeeeaaaase update the Galaxy Nexus soon after the Nexus 4. I'm sure they will, but I just have my paranoid doubts

Love it all except centering the navigation buttons. People hold tablets often with both hands, which means the nav buttons were better served on the left side, where you could use them with your thumb while holding the tablet. Really don't understand the move to centering them.
Notification area features are awesome, can't wait to get those on my GNex, or maybe N4.
35. Zero0 posted on 30 Oct 2012, 08:59 0 0
Yeah. I'm not crazy about the new tablet UI. I think it's a waste of screen real estate to have the buttons taking up all that space, and centering them really is a bad idea.

I'm most excited for gesture type and photo sphere.
38. -box- posted on 30 Oct 2012, 09:45 1 1
It's nice that that is becoming built-in, but third-party apps have allowed that functionality for a while. It's nothing groundbreaking.
51. Captain_Doug posted on 31 Oct 2012, 09:52 0 0
But third party apps aren't perfect. I'm using swype beta right now and while it does okay if i swipe, if i pick each letter out, it lags like crazy. I was just expressing that it's good to have more competition. I'm sure android will do it right and then 3rd party apps will do it pretty good and add themes. =)

Ah..finally! Been looking forward to mirroring my GS3 to my non-Samsung HDTV. Also, the widget lockscreen is a welcome touch. Though, I don't see why the new clock app is a new feature...

Someone answer this for me if you already have 4.2. Does the default Messaging App have group text? (like iMessage)
