Android 4.1 update for Sony Xperia S said to be happening this month

0. phoneArena 16 Mar 2013, 14:43 posted on

Remember when the Sony Xperia S was getting its 15 minutes of fame thanks to that thin translucent strip near the bottom of the device that lights up at certain times? That feels like it was hundreds of years ago and in fact, the Sony Xperia Z is the OEM's stud at the moment; still, the Sony Xperia S is owed an update to Android 4.12 which might come this month, one month earlier than first thought...

omg this reminds me of my old Xperia S

IT SUCKED !! it froze so much I took a hammer and almost smashed it, don't even ask battery life ...
and camera was too noisy and when you zoomed you saw colors that shouldn't be there,

speed ? there was lag EVERY SINGLE MINUTE !!! I couldn't play games like Modern combat 3, so much lag that it was unplayable,
((you only have 635MB RAM Because some RAM is reserved for the OS and the hardware))...
and when I touch and swipe to clean the screen or play games, I saw stains just like on your PC/laptop monitor,, Bravia engine, really ?

and XLoud? what is that, i didn't notice a difference when turned on -_-

that's holding me from buying Sony Smartphones,, but I don't know if Xperia line got better with the xperia Z, it looks like a Nice High -End smartphone..

i don't hate Sony, i have a Sony TV it's awesome ,, Sony makes Awesome, I mean One Of The BEST TV's ans sound systems, but i don't know about smartphones after using the Xperia S

*sigh*

I know your pain, I had a similar experience with mine. I sold it and went back to my OG Note until the S3. I was considering the Xperia Z since I thought it was a good device(it is actually) but with HTC and Sammy new flagships, the Xperia Z now feels so 2012. I think I'll get an HTC this time, for a change.
One, here I come!

Xperia S was not as powerful as the top dogs, but at the same time it was way cheaper. At its price level, there was not many contenders, and no one was as seriously built.

There are lags, indeed, nothing a human being cannot tolerate, nothing that would be worth 100 Euros to get rid of.

Real issue : battery life, way too short. The rest is correct.

The camera is nothing stellar, yet it takes decents snaps. It's a bit like everything in this phone, it is not the best in the class, it has never been. But it cost me 380 Euros at a time a Galaxy S2 was (at least) 120 Euros more expensive...

If you think of Xperia S as a top-level phone, yes it sucks. Sony simply had no top-level phone until the Z's arrival. If you consider the price asked for about a year ago (430 - 50 Euros), then it's been a pretty decent offer. Later on, without the rebate and with the concurrent prices going down...

I bought an xperia tx because i was a fan of sonny design in their smarphones. But after 3 months of use i totally regret it. i hoped they could fix what was wrong with xperia s with the T/Tx, but i was wrong. Sonny will still make the most gorgeous phones but next time ill buy a phone that works! ( even if its a plastic one like the gs4)
i hope we all do!

like I said I absolutely don't hate Sony, but just agree the Xperia S is a fail, but Xperia Z is good, I didn't get my hands on it yet, but the specs promise a lot, (Xperia S specs on paper also promised alot, but...)

I never got a problem with Xperia P only the battery life. I guess everything is up to the user on how they used their phone and on how the phone satisfy their master's.

Happy User of Xperia P, Cant wait to have Z or ZL

Ahhhh memories....... I remember the first time using the Xperia P, this is a good news that Sony is updating some Xperias to Android JB. I hope that Sony will be updating Xperia Z or ZL to Android Key Lime Pie soon......

I own Xperia S and I love it. It has a manly design and also is elegant. People around me react to it positively and find it premium. I have experienced a few lags after ICS update. However, I am not disappointed, because I know Sony is aware of their software related issues in that ICS update and that's why it took them so long to move onto JB. They are taking their time to best the update for a fluent experience afterwards.

Have faith in Sony. At least I do... ^_^
