The droid might be able to run 2.3, but there's no sight of FroYo or 2.1 or, for that matter, 1.6 for other Motorola users.
We DEXT owners paid for the hardware the same as anyone else, but Motorola couldn't care less. So much for starting the Droid revolution, I'll be buying an iPhone or HTC as soon as funds allow.

moto seriously need to get their stuff together, updating devices in one country but not i the others is not cool specially when the difference is minimal, they should unite all their phones like (in a bad example maybe) SE did, even if they just had 2.1 at least they kept all the devices and made no exception, i just hope this Motorola mobility think ensures that happens

To audigex:
Where do you live? The Motorola DEXT (known in the US as the CLIQ) has an Android 2.1 Eclair update on their support website.

it's true about the motorola dext and motorola backflip and the motorola quench too i think, that in the US market they got the update to android 2.1, but in Australia, for instance, and indeed most of the world, motorola said something about not wanting to upgrade for the best overall user experience.... what a load of rubbish, i was shattered when i found out about my old backflip.
