Confirming speculation that a "reliable source" passed along to iMore the other day, Pacific Crest analyst Andy Hargreaves told his clients in a research note that a mini version of the Apple iPad is coming; Hargreaves says the tablet will be launched before the Christmas holiday season...

300 price range.
i think someone's smoking something. if apple plans on producing tablets that is similiar to the manufacturing costs of the ipad 3rd generation and mark it up by a mere 50-100 dollars this will be the end of the high end market appeal of the apple brand.
people will go crazy over a 300 ipad tablet, however, the dumbass apple consumer, will expect a cheaper version of the iphone as well. i still doubt an apple cheapie tablet in the 200-250 range. it's most likely going to be 300-350 range

Ay Yo dawg, I heard you like ipods so we took your ipod and made it bigger and called it an ipad, then we shrunk it back down to 150% the ipods size and called it the ipad mini.
So you can use your ipad thats really an ipod, and call it an ipad but its really an ipad mini thats actually an ipod xl!

yeah i understand what you mean. but unfortunately apple has most of the app support and currently and thats the excuse apple users have to defend apple ipads being superior to android tablets.
i won't lie as much as i prefer android over apple for phones.
i prefer the ipad over the android equivalent for tablets. spec wise nothing comes close to the 3rd generation ipad. please dont bring in transformer prime, it has gps problems, it doesn't have lte support, and the app support for android is straight garbage.
i have a xyboard and im still waiting for a customizable home app and sick widgets to make my tablet a one of a kind. i am guessing nothing real big will happen for the android tablet market until the nexus arrives.

I see it catching on actually.
At 7 to 8 inches, it has greater potential to fit into a purse, a suit coat pocket, or other coat pocket.
Myself, I prefer the current iPad size as ... I am old(er) and need the larger form factor.

i like the new ipad size too, but for most consumers 7-8 makes more sense. typing on the ipad is not ideal. on a 7-8 inch it actually comes more easier.
the new ipad has the higher rez screen helps with older people like you. apple's ability to market is unbelievable

analysts will say anything to protect their interests (market). analysts don't give a crap about the market they simply want the apple stocks to keep going up
but what these analyst don't realize is once you turn a high end market and reverse it, the consumers will expect low end versions of every product and apple will no longer be apple.
why would anyone want to purchase a 32gb 3rd gen ipad for 600 when there will be a 8gb 3rd gen mini ipad for 200. people will either find a way to make up the storage they lack or simply compromise and save the money.
i want this happen quickly so that hopefully because of the lack of sales of higher end 3rd gen ipad's and future apple products rediculous mark up prices will come down

Analysts said last year the new iPhone (iPhone 5) will be an overhaul. We got the 4S.
Analysts said the new iPad (iPad 3) was going to be thinner, lighter and might have a new design. We got the exact opposite.
Analysts said Windows Phone are selling like crap. Now Siri agrees that the Lumia 900 is everyone's favourite phone.
Analysts said Android will never overtake Apple in terms of sales. Wrong again.
I don't know what degree you have to take to be an analysts but I could totally become one with my kindergarten certificate.

This way they can still sell the iPod Touch for $200.

Just to add, I am not saying i like the $300 price tag, but it the only gap left.
The iPod touch at $200.
The iPad 2 at $400.
The new iPad at $500.
Having something sit at the $300 mark ... and have it be a 7 to 8 incher ... add all the apps, iTunes ...
Apple can't go wrong really by filling in the $300 space.

isnt apple getting rid of the touch. it really serves no purpose anymore especially when you can get a used iphone at around the same price. along with the ability to use it as a phone, you have the ability to use it as a voip phone
the new ipad is more like 600 dollars because of the taxes.
the new mini i am guessing will be more like 350. i just dont see apple cheaping out even on a reasonably priced tablet. will they really go back to that silly black plastic or plastic buttons over aluminum?

I just got my hands on an Android tablet running ics, and I'm in love I installed doom gles, and accidently installed the doom wad file in the sd card, and I used the file browser to cut it from the sd card and installed it in the proper file. iOS can SUCK IT. iOS is good for something like an iPod touch, but too dumb for a smartphone, and WAYYYYY too dumb for a tablet!
