WP7 is a failure
WP8 is expected to be a failure too
7. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
Android 1.5 sucked too, as well as iPhone OS.
Windows Phone can really edge out some competitors, just wait.
9. Mittal (Posts: 426; Member since: 14 Dec 2011)
yup!! we should wait for something better from MS, and then buy
20. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
maybe MS has surprise features for us on launch :D

iPhone os was the king in its time and the best of all it WAS NOT LAGGY. I bought it in 2007 iPhone 2g
19. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
and what can it do back then? there wasn't even video recording support.
30. DeviantDroid (Posts: 51; Member since: 28 Apr 2011)
Well my OG iphone was laggy and always booted me out of my apps.... So happy that you got a working model...

Hasn't it been 7years for windows OS, I don't see any changes or rising! It still a Half-baked Os with restrictions and limited specs.
27. SleepingOz (Posts: 2464; Member since: 22 Oct 2011)
WinMo wasn't as restricted and limited as WP but had a "half-baked" UI.
28. -box- (Posts: 3564; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
1) No. WinMo is totally different from WinPho. You might as well compare Windows 95 with Windows 7.
2) Rei forcing the correctness of your name, you obviously haven't seen the specs from the Nokia Lumia 810/820/920, HTC WP8S/X, and Samsung Ativ S: all their specs rival the latest Android flagships, excepting quad-core processors, which we all know doesn't mean much, especially for an optimized system. HTC WP8X is essentially a reskinned OneX, the Ativ S is a reskinned Galaxy S3. Would you say those gave a lack on specs? No? Then STFU.
31. bobfreking55 (Posts: 866; Member since: 15 Jul 2011)
consider Windows Phone as a restart. nothing was retained when they scrapped windows mobile.
Windows Phone 8 is a huge leap and more ads are coming out. a lot are joining the wp8 army with huge pushes like the Lumia, 8X and even Alcatel.
Just give it time. it might even succeed iOS in 2 years time.

Yea still have to use Zune to download music, just like iOs.... Microsoft hates and wants to kill destroy Linux, no Devs and hackers are interested, cause there are no Root kernel access.... Still dosen't provide freedom. Poised side that ui is like maybe 75Fps?

lol, looking at your name, there's no reason to get angry at your comment.
47. luxzy801 (Posts: 115; Member since: 16 Jun 2010)
Its actually been 10 years, and only if your going by the smartphones. And judging by your comment, you apparently have never used WinMo, let me start:
Half-Baked: WinMo did everything Android does and actually a lot more if you consider that it had
1: Flash (Were talking 2005 here son)
2: File Explorer
3: Hacked and cooked roms (where do you think XDA came from)
4. complete access to internal systems including the Windows system files and the entire registry
5. Ability to install programs and apps directly to SD card (Unlike Android where the app's presence is still on system memory and the processing files are stored on the SD card)
Refer to previous list
Blame your precious Samsung and HTC for that one.
Next time, just stick with dissin the iPhone buddy...
39. ChiX017 (Posts: 308; Member since: 09 Nov 2011)
Well those are your Own expectations..you can jump off a cliff with it.

Only if BlackBerry completely fails OS 10 this year... Wouldn't surprise me if they did...
6. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
Frankly, BB/RIM are 'edging' themselves out of the enterprise all by themselves, with no help from WP.
3. andrew1953 (Posts: 174; Member since: 13 Nov 2011)
It's going to be tight but BlackBerry can do it if. OS10 is good enough and they can attract sufficient developers and apps. The hardware has to be pretty damn good as well.
55. kapoorsunny (Posts: 19; Member since: 10 Oct 2012)
Also they need to consider prize range as well.
4. ipadnote (Posts: 3; Member since: 13 Oct 2012)
I really don't understand why Windows 8 will edge BB out of enterprise??
WM6 is not a success compared to Symbian
WP7 is a proven failure compared to Android & iOS
Why not have an article with title say
"Android Key Lime Pine & iOS 7 will edge BB out of this earth"
this more make sense

You don't say....

Go microsoft go ! Beat the s**t out of rim....so that they will go bankrupt
Rim = rip
Pikapowerize is coming........

Go Android go! Pure Linux, Take Windows down.... So they will become like BB and Nokia or bankrupt. MS = Rip
Pikapowerize and Wp8frever is coming....
32. Nikolas.Oliver (Posts: 1340; Member since: 01 Jul 2012)
Why is your dp always shahrukhan ? (pardon me if i spelled it wrong)
i don't know what am i supposed to say, microsoft is quite good on PC but not so on mobile
34. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
lol haters!! you should check first that android isnt pure linux!! it is linux base and base on linux 3.1 whatever that means... while open webOS is at linux 3.3
and the only pure linux around mobile market is MeeGo.. the N9!!! yes!! it is!!!
BB10 is unix same with iOS but with different and unique look!
and come on... WP still need to beat Symbian... have you seen the q2 2012 sales? symbian is still on the lead even without help with nokia! and BlackBerry is still on top of symbian!
48. luxzy801 (Posts: 115; Member since: 16 Jun 2010)
Yea, we already saw what happened to the last mobile OS that ran on PURE LINUX (SYMBIAN Caugh, Caugh)
43. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
LOL nikolas.... no matter how much you hate RIM and BlackBerry... its all up to people's choice!!!
like me, my choice is to continue to love BlackBerry...and your choice is not to... but i dont really care if they ended up 3rd or 4th as long as people could see the greatness of BB10 like most of the people/tech sites/devs saw it!!!
BB10 will be great!!! so i couldn't care less of what you will say!
and a lot dont like what you said!!!
hating makes you pathetic!!!
46. Nikolas.Oliver (Posts: 1340; Member since: 01 Jul 2012)
How do you know that bb 10 "WILL" (not would) be a great os when it hasnt been released yet? Doesn't it mean you can predict the future? If so please tell me when will i die? Can you?
Hating has nothing to do with pathetic so please stop saying "hating makes you pathetic"
You live in phillipines dont you? Then you will never know how it feels because from what i know Only a small number of people in phillipines who use bb
53. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
it will be a great OS because of a number of advantages! and its main advantage is the move from java to a unix OS!
i dont predict the future...i said that coz of all the things that i already see and a lot of tech sites and devs saw that too!!!
it doesnt mean that when i said great it mean it will bve on top! but great beacause of what's inside!
haha... you're funny! a lot of people use BB!! Teens, Your professional and other people you dont expect to one one but they have!
yes... hating is pathetic!!! very very pathetic! because its pointless!

RIM has the open os with the best security system compare with other... Wp will succeed but I don't see RIM will dead...
Get the Google play apps with tegrazone from nvidia and sign up for PlayStation certificate... And RIM will win anytime :)
15. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
Wendy, security-wise, RIM had the best security. Android 4.0.4 with FIPS certification (GS III and RAZR have it) is equivalent to the device-level security of BBs. Secure GMail (SSL encryption) gets Android handsets with FIPS certification to the same security as BIS. A consumer won't put up with the limitations/restrictions of BES.
The U.S. government is moving off of BB/RIM for its secure smartphones. Guess which OS they are using for their secure smartphones? Android. Not iOS. Not WP. Android. Boeing Computer Services is the prime contractor for the software; Motorola is providing the handsets (I think they are using a variation of the RAZR).
RIMs best days are behind it. If you use an iP4/4S/5 with at least iOS v. 5+ and iCloud.com as your e-mail provider, you will have security similar to BIS. Plus, you get the Apple ecosystem.
16. wendygarett (unregistered)
You know what? The only weakness that RIM has is the lack of apps... Otherwise I don't see any disadvantage of having the RIM device... It has flash support that wp lack of... It can root and custom Rom that wp lack of too... And wp need jailbreak to get the Bluetooth file transfer system that RIM need not to... I believe most pa reader agree with that...
18. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
As you observe, BBs are a bit short in the app department. When Android and iOS have essentially the same security as BIS and tons more apps, is there any doubt why BB's market share is tanking?
45. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
yes.. they are short with apps right now! but BB10 will be easy to attract apps..especailly android apps coz devs of the android apps just need to copy, paste and submit their apps to app world!! no rewriting!!!
and the PB app department is at 30,000 already and counting! and these apps will run on BB10 coz PB OS is just the same with BB10!!! so 100,000 apps for BB10 will be achieve easly!
44. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
agree!! this is the big mistake of the past CEOs!!! they are so confident that BB's market wont be shaken because of the apps...but after iPhone 4's real target is Business people, RIM is struggling to gain back!!! and im thankful that the new CEO is making a great move by releasing a new OS base on QNX which is a UNIX-like OS... it is a great move coz the support will be great and app development will be really easy coz now the BB10 devices will have similar screen size and dimensions coz before developing apps to previous BB device is a pain coz of different screen sizes but now Heins is making a great move!!
BB10 will be a great OS... apps development will be easy to devs....like i said android devs dont need to rewrite their apps for BB10.. they just need to copy, paste and submit it to the app world! and a lot of devs find it very beautiful and an easy tasks....while on WP, i was thankful that Win8 shares similar kernel to WP8 coz if they dont, WP8 ecosystem will be like a ghost town coz devs will rewrite their apps... and thats a big pain in the A.S.S!!!so apps development will be easy for WP8 too because of that! and Microsoft has a lot of devs around the world so WP8 and win8 will have a vast collection of apps in no time! and on BB10 just copy, past and submit!!! so thats why both OS will be great for devs and users!
while apple, they are always different!!! but my fear is that Microsoft is becoming like apple! but this is great for linux though.. if microsoft will start making their own devices, manufacturers will release their device with linux on it! and will be price cheaper!
thats why i dont lost faith with BB and RIM because of this!
22. Naitto (Posts: 44; Member since: 15 Sep 2012)
I agree this may all be fine for mail and such. But now with nfc and credit cards on my phone. I will trust widows 8 over aneroid. Just my opinion.
37. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
As long as the Android phone is FIPS-certified, the device encrypts (internal + removable memory) at AES256 strength. Every cryptographic standards body in the world has accepted AES256 as un-breakable.
29. -box- (Posts: 3564; Member since: 04 Jan 2012)
To be clear, it is one if the Motorola Atrix series they are using, not the DROID RAZR, so that they can buy the same phone and use them worldwide (GSM vs CDMA)
38. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
The RAZR can do GSM communication. Whether the hardware is Atrix, RAZR, or whatever, my point is that BB's days of being the most secure phone are behind them. Nothing in BB10 or the BB10 phones will enable BB to re-claim the title of most secure.
49. luxzy801 (Posts: 115; Member since: 16 Jun 2010)
FIPS is triple DES at 168 bit encryption sequence algorithm
BES has Triple DES at 256 bit encryption sequence algorithm.
So, if you ask me, Android is still a bit short on security
And did you really start on the iPhone. Dude the icloud has the same security WinMo did back in the day LOL
WinMo: SSL 128 Bit Cipher
iCloud: SSL 128 Bit Cipher
I am laughing my A** off right now bro
50. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
Don't laugh too hard, you might choke. The U.S. version of the GS III provides for device and SD card encryption at AES256 strength. You can confirm it yourself at Sammy's support website.
Continuing on, per Apple's iCloud support site ( support.apple.com/kb/HT4865 ), data stored on the iCloud servers is encrypted at a minimum of AES128. The data encrypted on the servers is then sent over a communication channel encrypted at SSL, which is minimum 128-bit strength as well. Even if the SSL encryption were cracked, there would still be the requirement to crack the minimum AES128 encryption. Finally, data stored on the iP5 is encrypted at AES256 strength. Check the Apple support website.
The truth will set you free.
52. luxzy801 (Posts: 115; Member since: 16 Jun 2010)
Still laughing. SGSIII has SSL AES128 cipher not 256, the google system itself is unable to push a 256 cipher unless you hack the system and recode the entire security (Which is what the FIPS certificate essentially does, it rewrites the original Google based SSL certificate and writes a new 3DES 168 bit cipher).
iP5 also has only SSL AES128 Bit Cypher, which unlike Android, is not adjustable, even if you hack it.
3DES is still the top of the line (Estimated; 3DES will eventually be replaced by new AES stardards sometime around 2030) security if the platform runs properly, and since BB has an entire platform built around 3DES, it becomes more secure than standard AES Algorithm (At least for now)
So, in conclusion, AES will not be anywhere near as safe as 3DES for at least the next 3-4 years.
54. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5276; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
"iP5 also has only SSL AES128 Bit Cypher, which unlike Android, is not adjustable, even if you hack it."
I don't think so.... Seehttp://images.apple.com/ipad/b
"So, in conclusion, AES will not be anywhere near as safe as 3DES for at least the next 3-4 years."
Again, you don't seem to have the most recent information. Here is a link to a wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A
dvanced_Encryption_Standard). If you don't want to trust the wiki article, check any of the source citations. Triple DES is yesterday's news. AES256 has been certified by NSA for Top Secret information.
Net-net, the iP5 encrypts local data to AES256 level strength. If the password login function is set to wipe the device after 10 unsuccessful attempts, any attempt to hack the iP5 turns it into a paperweight and nothing more.
Don't choke while you are laughing.

I would prefer if they would put apple out of business. Rim = been dead.
12. winddroid (Posts: 13; Member since: 13 Oct 2012)
Device encryption, Office, Sharepoint, One Note and integrated Exchange will make WP 8 the choice of IT departments around the world. It just seems to make sense to move to WP over having to use BES. My only question is how this will play out in the modern era of employees purchasing their own phones. Employees don't care about security and productivity, they care about what is cool and has the latest Angry Birds level.
17. rusticguy (Posts: 2810; Member since: 11 Aug 2012)
>> Employees don't care about security and productivity, they care about what is cool and has the latest Angry Birds level.
Right. They are more inclined towards HTC and Samsung here in India. WP is considered boring as hell. IPhone is considered expensive as hell.

RIM could still have the chance to stand up again if the company makes the right decisions with the upcoming BB10 line-up.

Isn't Windows last in the marketplace? This is news worthy?

I can't see WP7 as a failure, I wish Microsoft and Nokia good luck on WP8, the future is bright.
35. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
lol... q2 2012 proves that WP is still a big failure (not hating here)
even it was heavily promoted by nokia, symbian still outsold WP device!
36. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
whatever... as long as my love with BlackBerry is there, i'll buy BB10!! i dont care if WP will outnumber BB coz i could see that actually... coz Microsoft has big pile of money while BB is struggling... but BB10 is beautiful!! and easier to make an app than WP (according to devs.. so dont blame me) android apps can run on BB... and android devs dont need to rewrite there android apps for BB10 !! they just need to copy and paste! so a lot of speculation that even the app like instagram will appear on BB10 before WP8 coz iOS, Android and BB10's interface are very similar...
in terms of uniqueness they both have points....
in terms of quality they also have different points!!
app development.. it depends on the developer...but all i know is that a lot of developers who see the BB10 and develop an app for the platform finds it easy...especially android devs.. they really find it easy!!
but do not underestimate the new WP8 coz app development will be really really easy for it coz microsoft has a a lot of devs!! and win8 devs's apps can be easily ported to WP8..so app development will be easy too because of that! Microsoft's Windows OS is the world's most use OS...so i could see that on 2013, maybe 300,000 apps will be available on WP by june or september!
its all up to people's choice!! so STOP HATING!!!! HATERS ARE THE MOST PATHETIC EVER!!!!
41. theBankRobber (Posts: 642; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
I hear alot of talk about wp8 but it still seems boring and not appealing to people. Rim has only a real shot to rise back up with BB10 and I feel that alot of people and companies are just waiting out for the 1st release next year. Its best to do things right, unlike Microsoft in the past where everything from windows OS, xbox game systems to there older phones, they always rush the products with bugs and issues and try to fix later. Microsoft wants to turn into Apple where Android is turning into Microsoft. One of the biggest pros was customer options with Microsoft but now it seems android is giving everything customers want, while Microsoft takes the Apple route and keep restrictions in place. Just my opinion :)
42. pikapowerize (banned) (Posts: 1869; Member since: 03 May 2012)
maybe the first linux to be very successful! too bad its not a pure one! :)
