Analyst: The Apple iPhone 5S will give consumers a choice of screen size and color

0. phoneArena 02 Jan 2013, 11:48 posted on

Topeka Capital Market analyst Brian White sees Apple responding at last to those who say that the company offers no real choices when it comes to selecting an iPhone model; the analyst says that Apple will give buyers of the next Apple iPhone choices not only in color, but in screen size as well similar to the choices that Android buyers have when purchasing one of many Android enabled models...

Tim Cook is possibly getting bold that he can prove Jobs was wrong again after iPad mini success.

I think this will lower Apple's margins but customers will have more choices.

But Apple is stil an evil and I don't think they will change.

Either way, it will be great that iPhone owners will now have choices (besides what connector to use).

So essentially the iPod Touch will finally be able to make calls. /joke

With that in mind though, color options don't seem that far of a stretch. Multiple screen sizes, yes, that's a stretch to believe.

Really having a tough time believing that they would have multiple screen sizes.

Developers are going to start getting aggravated. First there was the iPhone, then the iPad. Then the iPhone and iPad doubled those dimensions with retina displays. Not a huge deal to change. The iPhone 5 messed things up, by adding an entirely unrelated resolution.

A retina iPad mini should be able to hold the resolution of an iPad 3, but a multi-sized iPhone is just another thing for devs to have to adjust.

the fan: we can customize with our new magical iphone 5s now.

profit ???

and it will be 4inch. they weren't gonna make it any bigger than that maybe in 10 or 20 years.

good luck to them.

My guess is the biggest will be 4.3, then Apple will try and pull a Razr M. But in all seriousness they are most likely going to make 3 screen size differences.

1.) 3.5 (obviously) for the tiny handed
2.) 4.0 for the normal handed
3.) (possibly) 4.3 for the big handed

Apple's in need of something huge. Build something strong enough to survive most accidents, call it the world's strongest phone, and you've got a winner. No case necessary.

At least an manufacturer that give us the choices, i mean i love the apple hardware (an example) but for me small screens are better, so the same hardware in a compact body or in a large body, another exemple the galaxy s3 mini, if it had the same hardware of his big brother, the name S3 would be more resonable

General question, what's more important, losing market share or gaining more profit from what you sell?

Excellent question, and people could argue both ways. In my opinion having a higher market share is important as developers will continue to develop for for device and keep the platform alive. If iOS suddenly saw itself (for example) at 20% market-share worldwide I can see the development of apps being favoured for android.

Who is the local public transport service going to develop an app for first, a phone which 20% of people use or a phone which 60% of people use. This is why iOS has in the past had apps developed for it first, but as android's market share increases, it is most likely going to be android that people develop for first.

From a neutral viewpoint I don't think Apple's marketing helps. Apple like to say that the way they do things is right and better than other companies. It doesn't look good when they say the iPhone 5's 4" screen is the right size as people don't want bigger screens. All they do is look stupid by going back on what they said because it's pretty obvious at some point an iPhone will have a screen bigger than 4".

again...w/the bias. HTC was the first phone out there w/screen specs of a 4.3 in. display. so based on those two moronic comments any phone that came out w/a 4.3 in. screen after the HD2 (which would involve countless Android models) was a copying right? of course you don't think that but if Apple does it...then it's wrong. smh. there are more intelligent ways of saying you don't like something vs making ridiculous statements that demonstrate a complete one-sided way of thinking.

They have to raise their stock somehow. They're up and moving, finally.

Who knows, with Ivy in charge of iOS, we might see richer features on the iPhone similar to Android, and with all these other choice offerings like screen size, I just might switch back to an iPhone. Which had me won over once, but disappointed later.

Size choice is still available. One can still buy 4s if they want to. Yes color is something which would surely add to innovation basket of Apple. Another feather in the cap for Apple's innovating team and i just hope that there aren't any patent applications pending wrt patenting color in USPTO :)

Thats interesting... When iCrap changed from a 3.5 to a 4 inches screen, many (if not all) apps didnt fit, because iOs does not know how to deal with different screensizes. And now, with many sizes, if it is true, will be a horror show for Apple.. But they're getting used to it

Apple needs to expand, one of androids biggest pluses is its versatility. I love androids choices of screen sizes, customizations, and models. Apple u should take note of this, as it has a direct effect on androids spread of popularity. Apple should know a good leader should also b a good follower. Android followed apple for a while, and is now a good leader. I see apple learning, and coming off their high horse. I expect something big from them this year with ios7 and the next iPhone. Any thoughts people? Intelligent ones please, if not then please don't comment.

Apple will need to come off its high horse to turn things around and really bring something tremendous to market. They are certainly capable of it. Speaking of horses, I'm going to beat a dead one for a sec lol. They need to stop with all the patent junk, focus on making something really cool, not just a slightly different phone like the last couple of releases have been.

One thing I would also like to see Apple do is take better care of those selling their products. For instance, I can make 2x as much or more in commission on several Android models for new activations as I can on any iPhone. I'm more than happy to sell one to a customer that wants one and it suits the things they need. Other than that, they don't provide much incentive for us to push it, certainly not as much as many Android phones.

The last device they released phone wise that turned the industry on its ear was the 3GS. It is about time they put out something that did that again. In a perfect world, I'd love to see great offerings for iOS, Android, WP8, and BB, so the choices would be great. That said, it is all cyclical. First it was Blackberry, then iPhone, now Android. Who's going to step up next? Given some time to develop, WP8 could really take off.

I think the next year or two will be very key to Apple. If they can wow the world with another phone that is truly better than its competition, like the 3GS was, then the sky is the limit. If they continue the small incremental upgrades that they have followed with the 4, 4S, and now the 5, then recent troubles will likely get worse. Just my 2 cents.

I find APPLE to be very gimicky now if not very predictable. I mean first off NOKIA has been doing this now for a while. Samsung up until recently started doing the colour thing and now HTC and Huawai seems to be coping and mimicking as well. What I find fascinating is that to me this scream desperation if Apple follows throw on this. I mean doesn't Apple I-touch devices fill this niche market for Apple?? Apple stop right now, please go back to innovating and stop Copying for Christ sake. Jeez its time like these that I truly miss Steve Jobs smdh!! Oh and watch Apple come out with NFC and claim it to be revolutionary and done for the first time lmao. I dare them to come out with Iphone 5S with the NFC Gimmickry.
