"Analyst Tavis McCourt, who works for Raymond James, decided that with all of the negative talk that has surrounded Apple lately, he would compare sales"

This is the second article I have read from Alan F.
and sad to say they are both misleading .
Also the analyst Tavis McCourt is also misleading the public by trying to give false information by saying Apple out sold Samsung by by 88 million units of phones when this is not so.First to begin with is that a company can only be counted as outselling a company by counting from the same start for both and in this scenario Apple had a head start on Samsung by over one year with the launch of the iphone 4 which debut one whole year before the galaxy S2 which is the first best seller for Samsung. Since the launch of the S2 Samsung has sold more units of phones S2,S3,and Notes one and Two combined than iphone 4 ,4s and 5 combined.BLOGGERS DO RESEARCH BEFORE U COMMENT ON ARTICLES .All analyst are tied to one company or another and will try to sway the public to buy their company phones especially if that companys stocks are falling like Apples.Iphone 4 sales for 2010 to 2011 june was about 100 million which was the same time galaxy S2 was just launching and if u duduct this from the total by apple 219 million u would see that Apple only sell 119 million units compare to Samsung 131 million units.

wouldnt be surprised if these so called analyst had shares in these companies so they try to make things look good to hopefully get a spike in the price and these tech blogs always all for there crap...like you said you cant make a fair comparison unless its from the same point and also lets not forget even before the 4 apple already had huge mindshare where as the galaxy s was new and was just begining so even if samsung are 88million behind the fact that apple had 3 years headstart to create the iphone brand where as the galaxy series is just 3 years old samsung have done extremely well.

Really stupid comparison! Mr. Tavis McCourt should include all of Samsung devices... It's not a big brain to compare sales of entire company's devices range vs only the top dogs of other company. The same way we can compare all of the BMW range to Mercedes S Class and claim that Mercedes is not selling so good... Nice try of brainwash!

but i think it will be a different story if apple will still stick with its old 2007's UI! iOS7 needs to wow us!!

while samsung needs to make something very premium and high class material with s4! take a note with LG's latest the nexus 4 and also its optimus G and also sony's xperia Z!

because if samsung will stick to its sub par construction, it will still not sell as great as people expect it, it will not be like iPhone... and also if apple wont bring some wow factor with iOS7 and iPhone 5S/6 then they might be in trouble!

If the analyst had any sense at all, he would be wise enough to compare the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 with the Galaxy S, the S II and the S III. Instead, he goes with the Galaxy S and the two Note smartphones. We all know the Note smartphones don't sell as much as the Galaxy S III or the Galaxy S II did, right? I'm not a Samsung fan, but I feel comparisons have to be fair. The Note smartphones are niche devices, and they don't appeal to everybody. So to ideally pick these two smartphones and compare them with Apple's premier flagships seems a little unfair to me. Just my two cents.

so all the big guns from Samsung could not compete with the iphone... the Droides could not do it... and neither will the Galaxies... want to see how Samsung also gets smoke on the tablets too

Samsung outsold Apple by quite a bit the last two years. This report is limited to a few models, but as you know very well, Samsung has been the number one smartphone manufacturer in the world two years running.

But you go ahead and consider this analysts report a victory. You've got to take what you can get, when you're perpetually in second place.

The ever moving goalposts...

As I said, enjoy your hollow, meaningless victories. At the end of the day, Apple will be a niche player in smartphones just like with desktops. Thats inevitable.

i'm happy to see these figures! so true.most people i know still have the iphone as their first choice for a smartphone and the other brands are just like whatever when they cant get the iphone for some reason

And I have to ask you: why is the iPhone their first choice? What does it offer them that those other phones don't?

(I'm asking because you're "happy" to see that the iPhone has moved more units than the Galaxy S/Note series, indicating you strongly favor the iPhone).

well the iphone has a lot of features that work really well like facetime and iMessage. i use em a lot and so does most people i know.i dont think other phones have em or maybe they do but u gotta like download some apps for it.and the iphone itself looks pretty and trendy :)

hve u tried using facetime?if so, is there a similar feature on galaxy phones?

Yes, there are similar features on the Galaxy phones. The main one, which you don't have to download, is Google Talk. The advantage of Talk is that it's available in browser on computers via Gmail as well, so just like Skype (which is also free and downloadable) its not limited just to iPads and iPhones. Talk also covers iMessage.

Also, if you join Google Plus, you have hangouts available, which are video chats that support up to ten people simultaneously (with user choice as to who shows up in the big screen, as I recall. Either that, or the big video switches to whoever is talking). That is cross platform and available for iOS (and free).

Also, do you not consider any Android devices, including the S3, to have admirable design aspects? My current favorites are the white Evo LTE and Razr Maxx HD, and I've grown to like the looks of the S3 as time has gone by.

Simple as this apple has not more innovation since Steve passed and every time samsung release a product there is always some significant updates however apple is just a social status and samsung a revolution... So chart my a#s.... I don't need to be a college degree to realize how apple can make you spend more money in old techs
