Analyst: Apple and Samsung continue to have a tight hold on the mobile market
0. phoneArena posted on 20 Dec 2012, 12:30
A Raymond James analyst surveyed 300 people, not a large sample size to be sure, and found that 86% of iOS users and 75% of Android users intend to keep the platform they are currently using when making their next purchase; the bad news for Nokia and Microsoft is that the analyst found that more awareness of Windows Phone is not translating into a large increase in holiday sales...

Soon it'll be Samsung alone. Apple will go down as fast as their stock prices.

As far as I see it, two years until and unless they do something like iPhone 4. I don't expect much from 5S. 5S will be what 5 should have been to stay competitive imo. Even with that, keyboard will suck, which is a deal breaker for me, especially as english is not my first language and iPhone's keyboard prediction revolve around English.

what are you guys taking about..?
HTC has the best smat phone on the market right now,
HTC DROID DNA
it will remain the best till for few months too...
last year gs2 was best as exonys killer snapdragon s3 scorpion but... this time snapdragon s4 pro quad is much more powerfull than exons quad with advanced architecture and best GPU aderano 320 which literally kills mali 400...
Best screen period...
Best camera with 99 continous shoot and 0.2 secs per shot , but i agree i does not do good when a bulb is glowing right in front...
so Basically Droid dna owns all phone including GS3 and iphone 5 SERIOUSLY.
we have to see what gs4 brings to the table, I do not expect much from iphone 5s

samsung has some things they have to sort out too remember that i wont say too much but know they're far from perfect just like apple......samsung is on the same road apple is now being thrown off.........what road? THE GREEDY AND CONTROL ROAD! but for one thing with apple out of the equation.....who will samsung have to copy off of? and yes copy is what they do and are pretty damn good at it......theyre just more sneaky at it than most...........So fakers and cheaters must fall and original and honest companies MUST RISE! either that or change their ways plain n simple

That's some really bad wishful thinking you've got there. a) No, that is not happening, b) no one in their right mind wants a Samsung monopoly.

With hot selling phones like the Note II, SIII, and iPhone 5, Apple and Samsung will continue to dominate the mobile phone market. the only other company I can see puching a hole in this article would be Motorola
14. iDroidWin posted on 20 Dec 2012, 14:49 0 0
I bet my money on Sony. Their 2013 flagship phones specs are seriously good. I think Samsung can outdo Sony, but let's wait and watch. Motorola recently has been going under a major overhaul. Great Battery. Great processing power. Timely updates. But a bad camera and UI. If it was to launch a nexus device, we can see Motorola doing some serious damage.

I cant argue with your claim about Sony, but havent done enough to make get a piece of the pie that Samsung and Apple have been eating for a while now. We saw how Samsung began its rise to where they are over the last few years and we're bound to see someone do the same

I see LG/Sony Competing hard in 2013 with great products like Optimus G/ Nexus 4/ Optimus G 2/ Sony Yuga...We need more players to make the competition hot...

Nokia, even if they manage to sell enough number of handsets that they will be able to sustain themselves, will have much larger chance to capture more potential buyers over time.
8. darac posted on 20 Dec 2012, 13:55 2 0
Sony plans to sell 55 million Xperias next year, LG finally seems to have gotten rid of the prejudiced prism of the consumer majority.
Chinese companies will outsell Samsung in China.. and Google will finally show what it can do with Motorola.
HTC still has plenty of punch left if it ends up on the ropes IMO.
And Nokia will survive until WP9..when Microsoft finally could cook up something good enough(hopefully).
So yeah, Samsung and Apple will dominate but others will stay on the field too.

I seriously want HTC to do something better with Sense. Once HTC's Sense and design were unbeatable. Now Samsung has a better functional UI, if not better looking, looks btw is never a dealbreaker in Android. Designs are still good though.

Was this analyst's name Obvious McNos**t? Tomorrow, he's going to release an analysis of the effect of gravity on objects dropped from high places. (Hint: they continue to move downward.)

LMAO. "Analyst" is such a joke profession. Hey, I bet I could make educated guesses too for $100,000 a year. You really only need to be right half the time.
11. rusticguy posted on 20 Dec 2012, 14:24 3 0
300 people surveyed and analyst talks so authoratively or they are just trying to crack some silly joke?
26. aldridhl posted on 20 Dec 2012, 23:02 0 0
Agreed..300 people is a drop in the bucket. They need a much larger sample size for this.

Not for long. Soon things will go in their normal way. Nokia will regain its crown and along with Apple and Blackberry will dominate the market.

Nokia nowadays is not Nokia of Symbian era. I didn't like it's relationship with ms, I would say it's not Nokia for me. It died with Symbian and Maemo/meeg. I really miss the old-school real innovator Nokia. Mr Elop I hate you.
18. techloverNYC posted on 20 Dec 2012, 15:06 3 3
Samsung wish it was apple. Samsung is one of my most hated company, they talk so many s**t about apple's working condition. If you actually did some research Samsung's working condition is not much better. Samsung is a bad company and like to use cheap "plastic" like materials and call it premium. Samsung products look poorly made when compare to HTC or nokia. My nexus 4 looks more well made than the S III. BTW apple produce one phone a yr and samsung have lk 20 phones, u guys call this a fair comparison?
21. amiaq posted on 20 Dec 2012, 15:36 2 2
It is a fair competition. Not resorting to legal action like some no good stinking rotten fruit company.
28. techloverNYC posted on 21 Dec 2012, 01:24 0 0
u telling me samsung never sue anybody before for patent?
22. joey_sfb posted on 20 Dec 2012, 17:59 0 2
oh its you fashionloverNYC. Back to tell us more about how you hate plastic phone and apple is the king of fashion.
Not interested in expensive low tech fashion phone that is the same design since 2009. Apple really lack creativity, which other company hold on to the same design for 3 years. Fashion is suppose to change every sessions.
29. techloverNYC posted on 21 Dec 2012, 01:37 0 0
wats with the insult? Im merely stating facts here. but if you insist iphone does has alot more accessories than any other phone out there.
So how is samsung creative? In my eyes the note II is merely just a bigger verision of Siii with a pen, u calling this creative?
Sii was not that much of a difference than Siii.
HTC is creative they bought andriod to the public with G1! Nokia is creative, their window phones design are unique and material is top notch. Lumia 920 is nearly undestructable I heard.
so wat is samsung? A company that build parts for the low tech fashion phone you call. (explains how they get the "creativity")
Truth is: companys try to find one iconic design everyone knows and they build on it. For example: Mustang, psp,ds,video game, bose,BMW,etc Not much difference yet everyone we see a new "improve version" every yr.

That's because people are brainwashed into thinking Samsung and apple is the best when in reality they are pretty good for what they do but Samsung phones feel cheap compared to apple Moto and htc
30. iDroidWin posted on 21 Dec 2012, 06:00 1 0
Agreed. Samsung uses cheap material compared to Apple, HTC, LG, Sony. And Apple uses far outdated OS. Is it preference of some people? Yes. So is that cheap material and design. I will pay for an attractive case, which I think you will need with iP5 anyways to protect its over priced scratchy ass. I choose Samsung for its useful features and good hardware performance. I chose HTC as my first phone coz back then Sense was beautiful, better and HTC has good looking designs. Sense is not what it was back then. Moto has good battery life. Sony produces all round good phones, but timescape is becoming what iOS has become.
