Amazon's Kindle Fire HD got a boost from the iPad mini announcement
0. phoneArena posted on 27 Oct 2012, 18:11
There was some talk that maybe the Google Nexus 7 would see a bump in sales because of the screen time that it got during Apple's iPad mini event, and maybe it has, but Google hasn't talked about the numbers. What we do know is that Amazon's Kindle Fire HD definitely got a boost after Apple's event...

I don't think it was the price of the mini as much as it was people thinking the N7 and KHD were the mini. Remember the consumers we're talking about here.

Agree, I think 4:3 is not the right form factor for small tablets. Every time I see iPad mini I just can't help thinking it is a compromised product.

I know if I am one of hardcore reader who is hooked with Amazon's library, I would pick Kindle Fire HD in an instant (I watch the full long presentation and apart their price, they did very impressive work with their tablet). And of course if I want more than a 7 inch-screen based reading and media-centeric device, Nexus would be my pick. (Already own a 7-inch Android tablet).
iPad Mini is a big no unless someone in consumers doesn't know too much about the tech-world or someone is pro-iApple as many surveys show lately those people pick anything coming out of Apple.

330.00 for a iPad mini..... I was at toys r us today looking at tablets...and someone stop to asked which one is the best....I told him....it depends on what eco system you like....apple...or android.... Also I told him how much you want to spend.....he said he bought his son a iPad.....and said its not all that for the price he spent on it......and driving to the apple store was out of his way..... I told both are good.....but I perfer innovation....android clearly has This.... I also told him you might want to wait to see what google will announce on Monday

What "innovation" would Samsung and Google be announcing? A15-based SoC? That's not theirs, nor are they first. HD+ resolution? Again, follow the leader. A stylus? If they did, that's not innovation. The N10 will be nice hardware, but the only innovation will be the blinding ugliness of the design, and new uses for recycled Mountain Dew bottles.

what innovation could apple do also with iPad mini this time ? last gen dual core A9 chip ? low res display ?
there are times we demand too much when the technology just hasn't reach that level yet.
btw, for stylus for tablet is a great thing. to do something different & be unique is an innovation

with such simple device as tablets the innovation is about the OS (mostly).
And new JB (4.2) is the innovation and star of the show this time.
By the way even older 4.0 or 4.1 version are far better than anything Apple has, and that is before taking Apple maps into account.

Upgrade, if you think any part of Apple's device is innovation, you need to check the history of electronics!!!!!!!!!!!
Apple does NOT make or engineer any of their products PERIOD!!!! All of the so called innovation that Apple came out with have already been out for years or engineer by another company!!! Although it is innovation for Apple's consumer, as they are only focus on Apple product itself. The facts are all there, rather you Apple fans like to admit to it or not.
Samsung develops and makes most of the chips and screens used in the world. You open any Apple's devices...there is nothing stamped Apple on it. The only stamp they are aloud to have is the housing case itself. And even that they didn't even make. They only came up with the shape itself. All their components in the devises are at least 2 years behind that already have been on other devices, including the screens!!
Whats even more annoying when consumer like you claiming that are supporting a U.S. company, but all the parts are made over seas and only a few are assemble here.
Google is smart enough not to screw with their hardware developers, and just deal with the operating system.
It will be interesting when Samsung ends their supplies and development team with Apple!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let's see who go the last laugh.

I'm an Apple fans, but I'm not here to flamebait but to surrender...
I think Apple is too late for joining in the education market because Amazon come in 1st... And the price is deal breaker.
why would parents buy this addictive bad gaming apps device which spoiled the child mood on learning where kindle fire has all the need like a year ahead... And no retina? Big mistake Apple... I told you, we want quality, not quantity... You cannot convince us that iPad mini is better than kindle because of bigger screen

Too, little to late, Wendy...The damage is done....We can NEVER forgive you.... lol JK

pity the people who bought iPad mini because they think it is cheaper, seriously. iPad is a premium device because of the display & ecosystem (yes apple has pre-build ecosystem second to none)
now they launched iPad mini, for only around $150 you could get iPad, i said the $150 is only considering the upgrade of iPad mini to iPad

Until flash is completely gone. I will stick with my Kindle Fire.

I really wonder sometimes if Apple is REALLY out of stock for pre-orders for the mini iPad- or if they just create that limited number to try and stir up a demand for their products cause people think they may not be able to get one.
either way, I won't be buying from them ever....
18. fanboy1974 posted on 27 Oct 2012, 20:58 1 0
I remember Apple pulled the same "out of stock" crap when the iPad 3 came out. They made it appear that it was a hot seller but on release day they had plenty. If you wanted one 3 days after release you could still find them. The Chinese scalpers were returning them in shopping carts because they could not turn a profit.
The iPad has turned into an expensive toy for the general consumer. Doesn't help that Apple did not do a major refresh for both the iPad and iOS.

They used same tactic on every model release, have a limited preorder and make peoples believe that is a hot seller as u said. But it works everytime, they are smart at marketing and peoples to dumb to understand that. But who cares, as long it works and sales. There is a reason why Apple keep theirs dirty numbers secret and dont official release it to public.

"Of course, Apple still sold out the iPad mini pre-orders, so the iPad mini price point isn't really an issue for everyone."
It took Apple over 24 hours to sell out of the 16gig models and the black 32gig and 64gig is still available. Your blind not to realize that price has everything to do with iPad mini. Plus every single iPad 4 model is available. It's almost like everyone pushed the main iPad to the curve for a weaker mini.

I was wondering about that as well. I have not heard any numbers on the new iPad like usual. Is it out of stock as well or just the mini?

Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 are superior devices. The iPad Mini was a disappointment.
