Amazon prices the Samsung Droid Charge more fittingly at $200 for new customers

Fortunately, Amazon is here yet again to the rescue by saving both new and existing customers some extra cash if they intend on picking up the handset. Priced somewhat more fittingly at $199.99 with a new 2-year contract...

This is not exactly correct. Stop giving partial or incorrect information. The phone is $199.99 for NEW contracts. It is $249.99 for upgrade with a new contract.
It does not help when you only give parts of the actual facts.

With an option for upgrading at my $50 discount, I can grab the Charge on Verizon Wireless for $239.99. Only a $10 difference...but... it's still $10 cheaper...

if the phone is $299 at Verizon and you get an extra $50 off how does that come out to $239.99? just wondering...

Sorry I forgot to mention this since the math doesn't add up,:
I get a "discount" plus a $50 upgrade. So when I add the Charge to my cart it's listed at $189.99, and then the $50 discount is subtracted and it comes out to $239.99

You have to wonder how these guys like Wirefly get away with selling the equipment for a cheaper price but yet the wireless carriers can't accomplish this.

The reason is that Verizon is artificially raising their prices by $50 and then giving you a 'discount' of $50 for New Every 2. They are grandfathering in the NE2 by trying to trick their loyal customers.
The one thing that I really respected about Big Red was that they valued their current customers. Unlike cable companies et al that would give discounts to new customers and try to soak their loyal customers, they gave you discounts to stay with them. Now they are pulling this junk.
And the worst part is that they are obviously paying their third party (amazon, wirefly, etc) $50 for new customers, which is why the phone is cheaper for them. I understand the motivation to try to capture new customers, but they are testing the loyalty that they have solidly built up over the years. I know that I will be looking around when my contract is up next month.

Checked Amazonwireless.com again. If you're an existing VZW customer you can grab the Charge for $199.99
New VZW customer: $179.99
