Amazon may have an 8.9” Kindle Fire in the works
0. phoneArena 14 May 2012, 16:39 posted on
The Amazon Kindle Fire has taken the slate world by storm ever since the 7-inch, sub-$200 Android tablet hit virtual shelves back in September. While, based on its success, we would expect Amazon to create another iteration of the budget slab; we haven’t heard must in the way of a successor...

Cool, if it offers more than just a larger screen I'll buy it for my wife. She got a Fire last year and loves it. I would like to see a micro sd slot for sure, and possibly a 5mp camera if they can keep the price at that $200-$250 sweet spot.

the only reason the Kindle sold is ..price.. if they want to continue selling they better sell it cheap...fandroids love cheap stuff
3. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
actually you are wrong. its a combination of many things.
the target sale exploit
i still doubt a 2xx priced ipad but we shall see. at 2xx it will most likely be a wifi version only.
if the new fire is 16gb. pls or ips screen. unlocked bootloader with hidden features like bluetooth. a fatty battery and a 250 price range, this thing will smoke alot of tablets out of the water.

i guess only geeks bought the Kindle as I doubt the average joe will do half of the stuff on your list...
11. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
you dont have to be a geek to do half the things i mentioned. all it takes the ability to read, desire to think outside the box.
remember apple users require someone to do the thinking for them
android users tend to be a little more creative.
eventually rooting and changing roms will become more and more simple as companies produce phones with unlocked bootloaders.
16. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
please google how many Android devices are rooted.. ok.. ask any ramdom cellphone shopper if they know what is a bootloader,... and come back with the answer.. ok.. damm just google it.. is already in your phone.. dont come to debate unprepare please
24. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
do you have adhd. why are you so passive aggressive?
in the past if you wanted to customize androind people we had to learn to understand things like bootloaders, kernals, and roms.
it was sort of complicated. however, it has gotten to the point where customizing an android phone is simple especially if you own a samsung or htc.
before you talk crap about samsung, remember alot of the main parts to the iphone, and ipad uses samsung products.
not only is customizing become simple, but the sheer amount of home screens, widgets, wallpapers, fonts, color, etc makes the android experience really enjoyable.
i just looked at kids nexus with a different home and couple customized widgets, the phone was absolutely beautiful, unique, and just plain awesome
i think of android and apple this way.
apple is your typical public school.
android is your typical private school.
both schools are great but the private school usually has alot of more fields to choose from while public schools tend to be more rigid, confined, and plain boring.
if my comments upset you it simply has to do with the fact that i am telling you the truth.
29. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
by any chance your comment dint bother me. and trust me I know who makes the iphone...i dont recal talking trash about Samsung.. I simply said the Kindle Fire sold based on priced and what it does for that priced... of course I was trolling but doesnt change the fact that the Kindle fire does what a 200.00 tablet does.. is that simple dont know why some people get all sensitive... I knwo what Android can do. but the wonders of Android come when rooted whom hardly anyone does other than gee.. sorry.. tech oriented people... I went to Apple because i dont believe i have to root a phone in order to see it fullest potential . I am lazy and want everything handed to me.. Apple meets my needs.. again not upset.. dont have a reason to be...
31. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
you need to read some of your comments it comes off abrasive. saying words like damn....
yes your probably right there's still not alot of people who root, but i am telling you that is changing quickly.
i think the iphone runs better jailbroken if your a heavy user like i was. i know this because i tested it. the unjailbroken the iphone would freeze so much i almost broke my iphone. but when i jailbroke it and optimized some of the background settings and such it ran much better and far less freezing.
android stock runs fine for minimal users. but put it through it's paces and it starts freezing.
heavy users like me benefits when we root and change the rom and kernal. gingerbread is a godsend, it rarely freezes even on my beater xprt.
i wish there was a rom and kernal change but for what it is runs fine in its stock setting.
rooting doesnt really mean modding, its more like opening up gingerbread so that it can be modded.
either way the android os is alot more taxing because people like me are constantly switching and multitasking. that ability is not available for iphone users. when you multitask and stuff there's a higher probability of being frozen and taxing the batter and that's simply less of a problem now.

Are you a crazy person or something? You constantly trash Samsung.
21. humandroid (Posts: 58; Member since: 11 May 2012)
And I guess only hipsters and people who dont do research and just want to be trendy bought the ipad.
Look at me! I can make moronic broad, sweeping generalizations too!

and sheep love wasting their money.
7. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
not wasting money as i can resell it and recover my investment..
12. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
exactly you can make a living ripping people with apple products and selling for profit. How would i know? i see teenagers doing it all the time.
17. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
thanks for helping me proving me right.. call it how ever you wanted bottom line. if you buy an Apple product.. and don't like it.. you sell it.. but you hardly lose money on the other hand how much does a used Kindle sells for?...
26. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
kindle fire is about 200 and it can be sold for about 150-200 so a 50 dollar loss big deal.
18. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
Sell it? Lol yea ok buddy. Clearly you get soo bored of your apple product you find out the next one is coming out in hopes its actually better when in reality its just the same, just more expensive.
20. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
never said I will sell it but if I do no worries. and the new ipad sells around the same price as the ipad 2.. so c'mon Rory you are smart you already know all this.. man..
27. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
no it does not, the new ipad costs alot more and sells for almost 30-50 percent more than the previous generation
and again the fire you lose only a small percentage of what you put into it.
34. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
lol dude, you just said "not wasting money as i can resell it and recover my investment."
Make up your mind bro lol

Resale value...really. Its a mobile device not a house. Its amazing that one minute you can characterize android users as cheap and the next minute you want to tell people about how important resale value should be. Guess what, if resale value is actually a factor when purchasing a mobile device, then you are cheap. People buy blu ray player, gaming consoles, and other electronic devices based on their ability...not how much they can sell it for later. Let's get back to expandable memory, processor power, HDMI capability, bluetooth file transfer capability, customization, multitasking, etc.etc.etc.....
5. humandroid (Posts: 58; Member since: 11 May 2012)
"...fandroids love cheap stuff"
Not true, I don't care for your mother, I mean, she produced whatever the hell you're supposed to be LOL.
Dude, really, stfu. The Fire sold because of price an funtionality, plus believe it or not there is a large chunk of the populace that doesn't want to deal with itunes BS.
6. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Surprising that our cheap android stuff still out last and out perform any overpriced apple stuff.
10. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
you keep telling yourself that.. maybe it will become true someday
13. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
calm down boys, just about everything is eventually manufactured by foxconn anyways. its just funny most of the high end stuff in android tabs and apple tabs are parts produced by samsung
15. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
My Evo 4g still kicking strong and can go toe to toe with the iPhone 4., Its been dropped and even ran over and still manages to work with scratches on the screen. My Photon can go toe to toe with the iPhone 4s. Hell even with the dual core GPU in the 4s, they still haven't made anything that takes use of it and my Photon can still play and run anything the IPhone 4s can. Best of all, my phone will last longer due to the excellent build quality compared to the 1 drop and your iPhone is broken quality.
19. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
I believe you.. your rooted Android phones can go toe to toe with most high end devices I honestly do believe you, but my point is that what you do to your phone again the average consumer doesn't do... that's why my statement is true but doesn't apply to you or any other rooted phones which is the minority,
22. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
My Evo is Rooted but still on the same OS it came with, only Rooted to remove Sprints crap off my phone. My Photon is unrooted and still locked. Android phones don't need to be rooted to keep up with the iPhone, but iPhones need to be JAILBROKEN to get a small taste of what Android can do. Once I get ICS on be Photon it will surpass IPhones IOS 5 and give me more and better features.
23. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
well the Photon is a good Android device so I am surprised.. never said the iphone is the best device but is the best for my needs. I don't want the iphone to do what Android can I want what the iphone to do what the iphone can...
25. theBankRobber (Posts: 681; Member since: 22 Sep 2011)
Well glad to hear you actually saying any positive about a Android device. I like Apple devices and never said they're bad, they both have there pros and cons. But I won't let someone make it seem as if Android is cheap and crappy devices when they hold there own value towards other products. I still have my iPod 80gb and Iphone 3G but like how I can change the look and feel of my Phone. I will say you get what you pay for, if your willing to get a free or cheap costing Android device, don't expect to get the same results as high end costly phones, that's where some of the problems lye.
28. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
obviously what android does is working if apple is introducing a cheaper tablet.
android covers the poor and uber rich crowd
apple has always been about ripping people off
gallitoking you pretty much said android users are cheap. not all android users are cheap and buying a fire that can pretty much do what the ipad does isn't cheap, it's actually really smart, cost effective, and budget friendly
i live in seattle and there are alot of gadget people here. whenver i watch people with ipads, most of the time they are playing some sort of game at the same time i notice the fire users are actually being productive. they read stuff.
im not implying that all ipad users are stupid but when someone spends 400-600 dollars to play sodoku or angry birds... it just makes me wonder. how dumb can you be
33. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
1st trust me not going into details but the Fire cannot do what the ipad can.. and viceversa.. we will see how good the Fire really is once Apple releases a mini tablet... and we will continue our conversation. most android users like free stuff and who doesnt.. but you get what you pay for.. and with the fire. well you pay 200 for a 7 inch tablet.. and thats what you get...
30. gallitoking (Posts: 4718; Member since: 17 May 2011)
i had the Droid X and have a soft side for moto devices .. if i ever go back to Android I always said it will be a Moto device... motoblur made me go to Apple...
32. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
i like motorola but they lock down their phones its soooooooo annoying.
they have original design, great engineers, probably the best radio, pretty ok tech wise but they simply suck at developer support and their marketing is a joke.
how they can make 4 razrs in a span of 1 year is attrocious.
droid 4 or whatever it is called
and now razr maxx hd?
unlock the bootloaders you ass. i want to mod the xyboard!!!!! and change that name to xoom 2. what the heck is a xyboard. jeez
8. shamataa (Posts: 216; Member since: 07 Dec 2011)
It might sell more than the 7 inch version
14. belovedson (Posts: 988; Member since: 30 Nov 2010)
i think so. for portability sake 8-9 inches is perfect. 7 is too small. 10 is too big
35. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3108; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
That's what she said.
LOL sorry I had to.
