Right from the get-go, Amazon is shaving $50 off the price of the long awaited Android smartphone – thus, bringing it down to a respectable $149.99 with a 2-year contract. Yeah, it’s only $50, but that’s $50 more that you’ll have in your pockets...

AT&T store told me they wouldn't match this price or honor any warranty on Amazon GSII purchased online...

The warranty be honored by the manufacturer (Samsung), not ATT. If you need to exchange a device, the exchange is through Amazon (point of purchase) not the carrier.
Also, check Amazon's stipulation for purchasing through them - they can offer you better prices because if you terminate the contract they'll make money off of you from their own EFT plus ATT will get money from you for the ATT EFT as well.
