It has a new GPU, about 50% more powerful than the one found in the 4460.

Is that test at the same resolution? TI4460 720p vs TI4470 720p or T4460 720p vs TI 44470 1080p? It does make a difference.

No kidding. Android tabs and windows RT tabs are still in the 720pish ranges, even most of the top models that are priced the same as the Ipad, what the heck!

It does make it more clear why Apple has a commanding lead in the Tablet market while in the phone market they have a lead over individual models but are about half of the marketshare that android enjoys. Android makers just dont try as hard in the tablet segment, they're fine with Apple more or less having the best tablet and dont try to outdo them like they do on phones. I hate to say it since I want to avoid Apple at all costs, but if I was to spend $500-600 on a tablet, it would be on an Ipad, not Android tablet, mainly due to the resolution of the screen and the app disparity between android phones and tablets is still big, but yea, its there.

but for only 49.99 a year, that's a great deal and you don't always have to be on LTE you can use Wi-Fi

It's a decent deal for sure, but the extra $200 doesn't seem worth it unless you just have the cash to burn.

True, but there are two solid factors in this idea. First, there is no contract...at least, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong; the article did not mention it. You pay $50, and that's it for the year. No tricks, no added fees/surcharges, just data...and cloud storage and free credit at Amazon.com. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, since not all the info is known yet.

Second, the plan does seem pricey, but for those that don't go nuts with the 4G data, it is a pretty nice deal, especially since there's no pressure of a monthly bill or strict contract provisions. In other words, they're basically saying "relax, have some fun.", which is something I believe that today's wireless consumers ought to be doing. It's not easy to relax, though, so at least Amazon is trying something interesting.

I assume the contract isn't a monthly thing, but a $50 YEARLY thing, much like Amazon Prime being a $70 yearly thing. And if the 4G LTE doesn't sell as nicely as they like, they may up the limit from 250MB to 500, or add that as a separate deal.

You have to be right on that. It isn't impossibIe, but I seriously doubt the 7" has that kind of resolution.

I sometimes wonder if people bother to proofread articles posted on the internet anymore. According to the above passage, the 7" & 8.9" versions have the same resolution & the same ppi.

Well that's for 32GB vs 16GB on an Ipad, and Wifi and LTE vs just Wifi.

I think its a good move on Amazon's part, to lure in fans of the original Fire that want the top model that is competitive with the top tablets out there, rather than a good but not best $200 model that is sufficient but not as good as the top tablets in anything.
