Amazon Kindle Fire to be a $199 7-incher, no 3G or microphone, but tightly knit to the Amazon ecosystem

The long-awaited Amazon Kindle Fire will fulfill the dreams to launch at that coveted $200 price point, as it will launch for $199, but it's hardware is somewhat limited to rank with the best out there...

It'll sell well since it's a Kindle product.. and Amazon is kind of like Apple jr. lol
It will also definitely drive the price down on the Nook Color.. if it turns out that the feel and use is similar.
I am curious to see the hands-on reports. I'm expecting to see it be very similar to the Nook Color. I was hoping for a little more something that would differentiate it.
Hopefully it's mod community friendly!!

I hope this thing can be rooted quickly, this looks amazing. Basically the same hardware as the touchpad except android!

It needs a mic and a front facing camera and at least 720p.
1080p should be the standard; maybe they'll get it right next year.
Can't deny the price-point $200.00.
I'd like to see someone hack the Kindle Touch 3G and get unlimited tethered global 3G for a one time $150.00 Now that would be cheap-ass innovation for cheap-asses.

Are you serious? Do people seriously not realize that not even tablets that cost $500 have 720p or 1080p screens? SO WHY DO YOU EXPECT SOMETHING THAT COSTS $200 TO HAVE ONE?!?!

Dual core, Gorilla glass, Android tablet for $200
8gb of memory isnt too bad. especially if you're keeping stuff on the cloud
I'm sure the devs will get right to rooting this since its going to sell more than the other offerings
The design isn't bad either. I like the way the bb playbook is designed and if its anything like that then this seems like a winner... for the pockets as well

wait, I thought everything said that this would be running a customized version of Froyo (2.1)...?
Where does it specify that they've skinned Gingerbread?
