On Tuesday, we told you about the rumor that Amazon was working on a smartphone along with Taiwan based manufacturer HTC; and while Amazon has continuously shot down rumors about producing a branded smartphone, this time there are two insiders who say that both Amazon and HTC have been in talks about building a new handset since June...

Will it also be featuring no google play storage and have a bad quality manufacturer like the HTC One? The poor build quality on the one is starting to show up. If your wondering what the problem is the inside is horribly desgined. They were built like HTC wanted them to suffer electrical failures and be impossible for anyone expect HTC to fix.

There is one way i think this would work. If the phone is really cheap but still high end, because they plan to make up for it with the Prime subscription revenue..
Otherwise, I don't see people subscribing to Prime just for an Amazon-HTC phone.

I'm sure Samsung pays him by the comment, rather than by the hour.

I like HTC for their Sense UI and their (usually) high-quality materials, but I can already tell this would fail, just like their Facebook phone did.

Nah. I don't think it would fail at all. The only reason why the FB phone failed is because A- There's a lot of backlash against Facebook and B-The only compelling reason to buy the phone in the first place was Facebook Home which was also available on other phones. So FB shot themselves in the foot with that one.
Now Amazon... Who doesn't like Amazon? Jeff Bezos knows exactly what he's doing and the phone would I'm all likely hood be high end, beautiful looking(thanks to HTC) and have a low price. More bang for your buck. I think this will be just fine for both HTC and Amazon.
