Its good to see a 128GB model coming.
i think every company should go for a 128GB option especially when the phone come in a unibody design (HTC One,One x,Xperia Z etc)
memory and battery are the only department shows less improvements.

Especially when 1080p resolution videos and hd movies and high res pictures consume higher amount of memory.

it's probably excessive to have 128Gb on a xperia z when you have 64gb micro sd card and usb to go as option

This. Not much of a stretch to predict this will be the lowest selling version released due to pricing concerns.

My guess is it will take the price of the 64GB. The high end iPhone will probably start at 32GB now, so youll have 32 64 and 128 options.

Makes sense, but it will have a large negative impact on their revenue if they go that route. Unless they plan on making up for it with the plastic phone, I can't see Apple doing that.

No, every company should have sd card support so that you pay once for the sd card which you can take model to model. This 128gb model will cost at least $400. And what if you want the next 128gig model iphone 6? That's another $400.
If I upgrade to the Note 3 all I have to do is pull out my sd card I bought last year from my Note 2 and slap it into the Note 3. Very simple and much cheaper than paying the premium each time I upgrade. Sd cards don't die they multiple.

I'm going to be insulting a lot of people here, but i'll say it anyway: Why in the world would anyone need 128GB of internal storage om such a small screen? I guess it's for people who load up on movies? My 4S has 16 GB and I still have 3GB to spare with a decent amount of music / pictures on my phone. If they're going to add that much storage they should make the screen bigger - it might incentivise people to pay more for more storage. Watching a movie on that screen seems like it would hurt my eyes after a while.

Nonetheless, great to see this option available.

Agree with you on some part.
4"inch screen may be better for one hand operations but movie on bigger screen is better.

You have to also understand that Apple utilizes the cloud better than anyone else out there. But 128 GB for Games, OS, Music, Movies, Books, and Pictures. Hell I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and even with my 32 GB card I ran out of space immensely quick I am leaving Android until it can get the synchronicity that Apple Products use, I mean you load 40 gigs of movies and than you can Airplay it a lot better and easier to apple tv which isn't much to someone that can afford a iPhone. So yea I would say 128 gb is needed and even on a small screen will work fine.

mhl with cec compatibility is much better than air play, I can use my tv remote to control the entire phone via mhl and cec,

even mirroring on android much simplier with NFC as higher tv implementing nfc on their tv ( though I don't like air play or wireless mirror as it's laggy)

I have to agree with you for a little of that. But you also have to look at who has the better ecosystem. Sure google is coming up and now has TV,TV Dongle, Phone, Laptop, and Tablet. But they work laggy with anything else that isn't chrome I mean I plug a android into my pc and it 50/50 works. I plug a windows phone into my computer it works flawlessly without any issues same with a iphone. Plus Apple has TV,Router, Laptop, Tablet, Home Computer, Phone, and MP3 Player. Anything Wirelessly hangs on your Router, How many computers connected to Router, your Cordless Phone, Your 5GHZ vs 2GHZ, Wifi Interference, Channel Clarity. I did Internet Install still moderate my own home network. Routers can only operate on certain frequencies and channels. Nowadays cordless phones operate on 6GHZ so they don't interfere as much. But say you live in a Apartment Building 4 Stories, 40 Apartments. If they are all operating on Channel 4 and 140(Don't know if they are real channels just using for example) Than when you Airplay it will be Laggy as all hell. But and this is honesty out of all of the Wireless Anythings, Apples does work the best but like I said My Samsung could've worked just as well if I lived out in the middle of the woods with myself on the only channel 4. It isn't the devices fault for lag. NFC is nice but lets face it and be honest about this its a niche the only TV maker I have seen that utilizes it is Samsung. Vizio, Westinghouse, RCA, and multiple other makers do not utilize NFC yet. MHL is nice but its expensive and it is also a niche yea lot more phones are coming with it but everytime Samsung releases a new Galaxy S they update it so you buy a 2.0 cord and five seconds later its out dated. Technology moves quickly and until google can catch up and take over the Desktop world they will always sadly play second fiddle to Apple and this whole having to be online for chrome to work is going to kill them. Apple is going to thrive because of their ecosystem unless Google does the same close off everyone and makes the ecosystem Apple has they will not win.

Your acting like apple is the only company that makes products that work together.

No I never said that if you read closely I mention how Google makes many products that work together, and I mention Samsung too. It is just Do you trust the company that has been around since the 80s, 98 or 69? Yes Samsung has been around for a very long time, but until they get the synchronicity that Apple has across the board they won't succeed. You guys think I am a Apple fan, I am not I have had almost every cellphone OS out there at least once even Web OS. IOS was one of the worst when I tried it, I had the g1 awesome phone. But I am sick of maybe having the drivers or not having the drivers, waiting a year to two years just to get security updates and yes I know its not googles fault but still something needs to change because apple is succeeding where they are failing and yes they are succeeding where apple is failing but it isn't much compared to google.

" I mean I plug a android into my pc and it 50/50 works"

Try plugging in an iDevice without iTunes on your computer and see how that works. Talk about useless.

True but plug a Huawei or any obscure company phone like Oppos into your pc and watch as the drivers don't download. Yes you need Itunes but most people use it anyway because that is the easiest way to buy music not everyone pirates it or uses amazon. Also for the people that don't have internet or are not as internet savvy as some of us they will never find their drivers.

While apple does do some cloud stuff decently, they're very new to cloud concept, and they're certainly not the best at it. For me, Microsoft takes the cake there, especially as they've offered SkyDrive for seven years, which is even before the iphone came out! Granted it was originally called LiveDrive (maybe they can call it that in the UK where that stupid bskyb suit occurred?), then briefly renamed Windows Live Folders, then SkyDrive. Thus, I use SkyDrive for storing and syncing files, my Office does that for me on its own, and my phone syncs my music, pictures, and videos over Wi-Fi automatically to both my computer and online backups, including Box, Dropbox, Copy, and a few others (I'm a fan of multi-redundancy)

While thats true Microsoft has the best chance to take Apple down but their Mobile Windows is just horrendous and not gaining any traction with apps granted its supposed to be Business but still. The cloud is a miniscule thing because when I get my iPhone 5S I am planning on using Google Drive and other Google products. It is just everyone is playing catch up to someone else and Microsoft has been at it longer and it could've failed like so many other Microsoft Products. But even if I was a user of Skydrive I can go out to the appstore and download a app for any phone i use that is why I say that the cloud is miniscule in a conversation like this.

128 gb for an iphone has very limited usage, considering watching wvga film on 4" screen (can't handle full res of 720p film) is not exactly great, the only other reason is gaming, but gaming is flaky on iphone without proper standardized controllers ( apparently coming out with ios7), unless the xperia ranges with dual shock 3 compatibility as standard, proper and real gaming is not very good on touchscreen

1TB isn't possible even for Samsung YET. The latest article reporting on that meant 1Tb (not TB) which is equivalent to 128GB

What apple should do is offer their low end iphone 5C with 16gb priced at $99 and the 5S should start at $199 for 32gb, that would put the 128gb at $399 which would be sweet for those who want the maximum storage possible for all their apps, music, movies, etc. I'll just wait on the anouncement!

I would think thats what would happen. You have to assume they won't do Four Models would they? iPhone 5s 16,32,64,128 gb That'd be expensive. Do you think anyone even Apple Fanboys would pay 599 for a phone? I have to hope they do it smart and do it like you said.

Since the price of iPhones at the moment (unlocked/contract free) increase by $100 per doubled storage (32 = $749, 64 = $849) is it safe to assume the 128GB model will $949?
Even if I were a millionaire, I would never pay that on principle. Unless of course they replace the 16GB with 32GB and the price system remains the same...

Very likely, if not more. We might be looking at the first (non-aftermarket) four-figure iPhail.
