While still just as unsanctioned as any prior leaks, we finally get our hands on something a bit more specific: specs.

To be honest 1 thing apple did right, is just if your phone malfunctions as long as you are within a year and nit physically broken or water damage, they will give you one right on the spot, and I applaud them for that, more manufacturers should have stores available where they can go and get equipment exchange, other places you have to pay insurance or send the phone and well being without a phone is a problem for some people, hopefully we get something like that in a near future.

So true this. Haters can hate, but until the competition offers this their lifespan ain't worth nothing.

A POS locked down device just like every other iPhone out there.

You have all the fun you want scrolling through home screens pointlessly checking for lag and running benchmarks all day.
Nobody asked you to click on the link that clearly states its about the iPhone.
The trolling is out of hand on this website.

While I', pretty much Team Android I think this will sell. Why?
iPods still sell & they have ridiculous colors.
iPod nano.... (lesser device)
iPod shuffle.... (I can't find an adjective to describe how low this device is next to an iPod.)
Macbooks sold relatively well even though the Macbook Pro was the power.
So my point is that Apple DOES have a history of making 'budget' 'low-end' 'mid-tier' etc. devices or one-offs of their main product. They even sell relatively well. I'm still trying to find out who buys them though, because outside of the macbooks I've never seen any of those iPods or even a mac mini in the wild. *shrug*

jeez, longer and narrower? i already thought the iphone 5 looked kind of weird with it's long and narrow body, but now it will get worse?

Apple should price it reasonably off-contract...I might buy one in red :)
51. Emmanuelz (Posts: 25; Member since: 01 Aug 2013)
Apple is starting to realize that people are not falling for the s version of the iphone as much anymore. If they wanted to they would have lowered the price of the iphone 5 once they release the iphone 5s instead they are getting rid of the iphone 5 and coming out with a iphone 5c to make it seem people are getting a different choice when really is the same as the iphone 5 just made of cheap material ane different colors.

You do realize that The iPhone 5C is [supposedly] launching after the iPhone 5S...
73. Emmanuelz (Posts: 25; Member since: 01 Aug 2013)
What are you talking about. Apples plan is to release both the 5c and 5s on the same day and want to discontinue the original iphone 5

and if launches what will be the iphone 5 premium phone purpouse... it really can't be replaced by this childish-many-colours-platic toy
53. Phonefanfone (Posts: 3; Member since: 27 Aug 2013)
What about considering Lumia 1020 ?
Should one wait for 5S (or 5C is that helps save some) or choose from Lumia 1020, HTC One or S4 ?
Just read that Lumia 1020 is the best one today. Is it ?
59. Phonefanfone (Posts: 3; Member since: 27 Aug 2013)
Read it at some Cosmoteched sort of blog or page. Don't know what that mean. But the Lumia 1020 was written to be the best phone.
Is that so?

This better be just a rumor because if it is just a plastic iPhone 5, that would be sad.
I really do hope for the sake of better competition that this is not just a replacement for the iPhone 5 because then it signals that Apple no longer wants to make money by improving customer experience and value, but by cutting costs to cheaper materials and reducing value while increasing their own margins. Why is it that they can't release a 5 inch version of the iPhone to attract more customers or even enhance the specs here or there of older models to provide more value and therefore, attract a larger audience? Is the only way left to make money to, once again, shaft the customers and loyalists? A lot of people wait for this drop down in price to buy the iPhone they wanted but could not afford, now those people have the option of buying a haemorrhaged version or fork over the money for the new one. It was bad enough that their software updates destory their older models, but now there is no way to take a step up to a decent phone for a decent price either.
This better not turn out to be real because that would just signal that the company has hit a brick wall when it comes to value and innovation. I have been in the droid camp for about 2 years now after owning a 3GS for some 3+ years hoping that Apple will make a comeback or leap of some kind but so far it has been one tragic move after another. For the last 2 years they have been behind in hardware, software, features and now we're adding cheap build quality to the list as well. Once again, heres to hoping that this is just a rumor and nothing substantial....and that there is a good twist to all of this that we haven't seen coming.

It will be the greatest mid-range device ever built/sold!

I use a iPhone 4s currently and i will put aside all apple hate to say something that needs to be said. How many iPhone users have wanted a different color other than white or black? LETS BE HONEST all of us have thought this / wanted this. SO here it is... honestly why even troll this. Apple made a cheap way for you to have a colored pretty durable iPhone. Of course it really is nothing more than color but hey, beats black and white again. Could you imagine releasing the 5c with only white and black, now that'd be pretty funny
65. lkjhg755 (Posts: 76; Member since: 21 Nov 2012)
lol... I can just imagine jobs saying, "You can only see white? You're looking at it wrong!"
62. JMartin22 (Posts: 505; Member since: 30 Apr 2013)
I bet their idea of budget is just knocking off $100-150 of the "premium" model.
64. lkjhg755 (Posts: 76; Member since: 21 Nov 2012)
apple... this is a big mistake... Just discount the i5 to the 5c price instead of blatantly stepping on your reputation.
I think I see what apple is trying to do here, and its kind of douchey... They basically use this product to replace the 5 (its identical except design) but make it less desirable by making it plastic and removing siri. Otherwise most people would just buy the 5 (of course for cheaper) instead of the 5s because with the same design, consumers will see no other worthwhile reason that the 5S is better than the 5. So basically apple is releasing the 5C to 1) get people to buy the 5s instead of it, and 2) as an excuse to not give people the option to buy the 5.
Screw Apple, they have done nothing but disappoint for three years since the iPhone 4, and now they are not only being lazy and keeping products the same, but letting profits and marketing schemes make their products worse then they were befor. Apple, if that's how you want to treat consumers and your reputation, don't expect millions of people to buy your iS#!t, especially people who have the mental capasity to think about their purchase.

what is the point of this thing?
its not even cheap
74. GeekyGene (Posts: 76; Member since: 25 Aug 2013)
The white one looks good, would have to see the other colours in person to judge. I wish they would try the teardrop style again though. The 3GS felt really nice to hold, I found the 4S was a bit uncomfortable sometimes (the outer metal & sharper edges can really dig in to your hand - though a bumper mostly solved that issue). The 5 felt better as the edge is beveled, but flat back still. Teardrop still tends to feel more comfortable.
I wonder if the iPhone 6 next year could take design cues from the new iMac range.

This will be the most useless product ever sold by Apple.
If you want a cheap iphone buy a 4S, at least it looks like quality.
If you want a mid price iphone get a 5.
If you want a "high end" iphone get a 5S.
If you want a real smartphone buy an Android or a to be released Nokia.

Those specs are crap.

OK Let me put my two cents in because two things that everybody in this post has failed to site.
1 the iPhone 5C is a cheaper version of the iPhone 5 no it is not a 4 or 4s in any kind of way. 2 the iPhone 5s will be an upgrade to this phone it will have a lot of features that will not be included on this iPhone 5c.
Now let me elaborate on the iphone 5C it will be cheaper because its basically made like and iphone 3gs it will be cheaper because it is plasticy. Now this is good because they will not be skimming on as many features as you guys are starting to think but it will be just as good of a phone as the 5. Now on to the 5s this phone will have features that have yet to even surface a rumor about. Now if you dont want an iPhone but you are on these post every day talking about android is better go get an android and stop talking about apple.

let's be honest...at least the 5c will be a quality low tier smart phone. the funny thing is the 5c which is supposed to be marketed as a low-end/mid-range phone finds itself in comparisons to high end androids. you come to an obvious iPhone article to share your sentiments but let's not get into a discussion about the countless cheap androids out there that should all be heaped together in a pile and set on fire. 5c will be the best low/mid range smartphone hands down. low/mid range android? you can hang it up...you might as well go back to a flip phone. "cheap" androids are plagued with more complications & problems than any other type of phone out there.
