All three Samsung Galaxy S II variants for the US pose together in a leaked shot

Looking at them, they don’t appear to drastically differ in design from the international version that’s been available for some time – albeit, they shed the physical home button found with the original. For the most part, the three handsets...

Same question, reversed a bit - Why should a phone (or any product) be defined on sales?
Why do sales matter? Companies don't exactly share their profits. Sure, there's dividend pay outs for some stock holders, but the average consumer isn't going to hold enough shares to profit much from that. And, your vaunted Apple doesn't even offer that kind of profit sharing at all.
Didn't they ever teach you that what is right is not always popular, and what is popular is not always right? Look at lemmings, they all follow each other over a friggin' cliff to their death. THere is nothing more herd mentality or more juvenile for that matter than thinking something is cool because other's are doing it. I hear enough crap of that from my teen at home and I'm starting to wonder whether or not she's borderline retarded.
Thinking that she's an individual, thinking different so to speak, while looking like every other dumbass in her class. She also absolutely has to have an iPhone btw. Apple is all marketing, salesmanship, and hype (and yes, they are very good at it),
But you want to base "quality" on sales? Ok, PT Barnum said a sucker was born every minute and made a lot of money profiting off of selling people utter s**t. Now because he had a lot of sales does that mean that the crap he was selling was actually worthwhile? According to you, it does. "Used car" salesmen must rate very high in your book.
Apple is a successful company, they are that, so somehow in people's twisted little human minds they equate their consumer purchase with being a success because they carry a successful label in their pocket.
Equating sales with quality is stupid because people are stupid followers of the heard. Just look how easy it is for mob-mentality to overtake a crowd.
As a thinking consumer (keyword: thinking), quality should only be defined by a product comparitive cost/benefit analysis as to which item meets your needs for the lowest cost. That's why specs are important. For the product break down.
The last time I was in a Verizon store, the sales rep, "Brandon" tried to sell me an iPhone after I told him I was only shopping for an entry-level smartphone for my roommate. When asked why I should buy that phone over any other phone on the shelf his only reply was because, quote: "It's iPhone, it's hot. Everyone wants an iPhone" That does NOT answer why it's a better phone. I walked out at that point.

the iphone is more reliable for what i need, less forceclosing.. less lagging.. more secure, brand recognition, better trade value, amazing look, thats makes it the better phone.. to me...and last but not least is more user friendly...

*NO HOMO* but......I....frickin.....love you!!! I love comments like that, ones with added analogies and comparing the similarities of the topic to society/culture!!! I'm not going off topic (you're replying to someone else's comment anyway) with this because its true.......!!! PEER PRESSURE IS A BIT%&, why wont people choose AND/OR do what they want or feel/think the way they want to? People always want to be accepted now because of fear of rejection and/or ridicule, hell I wouldn't be surprised if killed eventually(of course people are now that is why we had 9/11). Now my question is are *you* a hypocrite with *your* point of view?

Just curious, what do you mean "the EVO 3D has done nothing to the EVO brand"?

Also Verizon didn't reject the SGSII, they will be releasing a LTE version of the phone. It's just not being done with this launch. May also have slightly different specs. SGSII plus. You'll be hearing about it soon.

it has not sold as expected.. nobody cares about 3D.. the EVO 4g meant something.. the 3D.. hmm it was a minor upgrade from the 4G.. same as the Droid X2....Samsung is very smart.. the galaxy line of phones will come in every variation possible.. as long as it says Galaxy II variant.. you fools will drop what your doing to get the phone... not surprise if Apu in the Kwik-E-Mart will sell this phone

you mean
"if it has a shiney apple logo on it you fools will buy it and proclaim it to be the best thing ever"????

I think you have your arguments backwards. As you like to point out, many people that want the SGS2 are tech geeks. Tech geeks dont buy on "brand recognition and logos" like apple people like yourself do. If its not an SGS2 with an exynos processor and a big super amoled+ (or better) screen, we wont buy it.

I realize you dont actually pay attention, but why dont u go back to the old hercules threads where we were all screaming bloody murder that it was supposed to be a craptastic snapdragon processor. Myself and many others said we werent going to buy it like that. And I for one.. mean it.

Very true. Verizon has a ton of "high end" Android phones, but they're all overpriced and none of them are even close to the Photon and EVO 3D for performance, aside from the Droid 3 and the still unreleased Bionic.
As far as the GSII phones, they're all beautiful, but the Sprint one is the prettiest girl in this party. I can't wait to take her out on a date. ;)
As unliely as it is, I'm kinda hoping that Samsung has thrown in a little something extra to make up for making us wait this long.

that would be
apple - if you want a 2 week exclusive on this minor feature that makes it better than the ATT version of the phone, u need to screw your customers for at least 3 months on other phones...

VZW - heck no!!!

apple - you want us to go be ATT exclusive again? huh? do ya!?

VZW - no, no, we like the sales..

apple - then just for that, i want u to screw your customers for 4 months!!

VZW - hey you just said 3 months!!

Apple - thats what you get for arguing. wanna make it 6 months?!

VZW - fine fine, we'll bend. With the ATT-Tmobile merger coming up we cant afford to lose the sales and fall behind. A$$holes..

Apple - muahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahhahah hahaha hahaahahahah haaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaha!!! (flies away in a blimp made of platinum and diamond apple logos.. flying from the hot air that fills the void in steve jobs massive ego.

Thats the ATT LTE version, not a verizon version. That is still under wraps. There is no reason the ATT version wont be HSPA+ though.

and even then, Tmobile and Sprints version are 4g, so your point is moot. which version of the jesusphone is 4g again?

oh yea.. none of em.

Yeah...no LTE would have made me pass on the sgs2 even if vzw had released it. It is just too outdated for cell geek.

The iphone5 is also an outdated device. Only a "real housewife" would be stupid enough to want one...let alone buy one. To troll for one when you havnt even seen it takes a level of stupidity not seen since man stopped wiping his ass with his hand.

I rocked this Incredible...but a single core, 3g Incredible2 is unacceptable. As is a single core, 3g iphone5. Sad but true you isheep.

the SGS2 is still king of the pile when it comes to processing power, that wont change until Kal El is launched... and its still king of the display until the 720p Amoled screens come out.. but they use pentile.. so it may or may not be better.

so if its outdated.. right now.. whats better than the sgs2?

Can we both agree that the SGS2 is the direct successor to the SGS? Good. Now I don't know about you, but I see plenty of otherwise phone illiterate people able to use the SGS without a problem. So what the f**k is this bulls**t about it being a phone for phone geeks?

either the 50% of the population of the planet must be getting smarter to fit that statement.. or 25% is getting dumber to fit that statement.

or your statement is completely without merrit, gallito.

considering how many tech UNsavy people I know that love their android phones, its obviously not that hard to operate. So if the average person is comfortable with an android phone.. and your calling android users tech geeks.. than the average iphone user must be what... Corky from Life Goes On??
I'd take offence with that too because I have rather intelligent friends that use an iPhone.

So either all android users are smart and all iphone users are idiots.. or your just talking out of your arse.

@phonearena, please check your facts before "printing".
These so-call 'physical home button' on many non-US mobile phones are actually a mini-touchpad, which can be depressed to function as a selection/confirmation button. Not necessarily just a simple button. Whereas on iPhone, it's just a home button. There's no copyright infringement.
And, from someone who compared Galaxy S Vibrant, iPhone4, and GS II side-by-side, wow, GSII is so light, fast, big, and pleasing to the eyes.
