It really is, that dark grey color looks amazing. And if you look at the side pictures, it looks like the metal actually curves around to the sides unlike the 2013 One which had a plastic insert all around the sides.

If like you, I want to compare the designs to things around us, then I must say that One looks like a bar of SOAP.

It looks great, really like the dark silver finish.. Phone itself looks kind of tall for a 5" screen but guess that's thanks to that bottom huge bezels.. Lol am sure someone will say it's not that big but compared to other like the s4 and g2 it is. Overall this phone looks really nice and a announcement and release on the same day in UK is great too. No plans to get a new phone this year for me but if I wanted one I would definitely consider the m8

looks actually better then htc one but its too bad that the front black bezel ruins everything. other then that i predict: more of the same. no substantial improvements in camera, etc.

#10 looks like the Max version. I'm sure it's the placement of the M8 up front but still makes it look huge. I like doing this little photography trick when I fish.

Dammnnnnnn looking at the last picture for one sec I thought the bottom of the phone was on the left and I thought to myself "YEAH they got rid of the HTC bezel!!" but then I realized it was the top of the phone... FML

It might sound silly but there's one reason why I often find myself attracted to Samsung's plastic phones, it's because I baby my phones so much, I mean more than anybody, there's always that fear of damaging it, even just the slightest bit. So as I hate cases, I'm always taking ridiculous care of them (currently iPhone 5S - those chamfered edges) and it can be tiring at times.

So in a way, plastic can play the role of a case, without adding width or thickness to the device, and is generally a whole lot less prone to scratches and dents than aluminum for instance.

am I the only one who like the note 3 among it all..
Note 3>5S>M8>S4>z1

Just for me, it is not necessarily for everyone to prefer this way ;)

ROFL that look terrible. It's HUGE, laughably so.

146mm x 70.5 x 9.5 with only a 5 inch screen and a 2600mah battery......lol

HTC at its finest.

It's really only taller than the others, and that's because of the speakers. It's kind of thick (at least not as thick as most Lumias, which are upwards of 10mm), but at least it's ergonomically curved like the GS3. The GS3 was bigger than the One X or the Razr HD, but it had so many curves you could barely tell. The New One is curved so that it feels thinner than it actually is. It's moderately taller than the others, but at least that height has a purpose with the speakers, which are amazing.

Even with the speakers it shouldn't be that big. The g2 size Max. The G2 looks like a mini compared to it and the Nexus 5 and gs4 are much smaller than the G2 too.

These phones are way too big and that includes the GS5. Let's hope LG doesn't drop the ball. My last hope or I have to go mini this year.

I'm sure if they took off the speakers they could shave about 5mm off the phone's size. The speakers might also have to do with the thickness. You're also comparing it to the most compact devices on the market, which isn't exactly fair. The Nexus 5, G2, and GS4 all have 70-76% screen to phone ratio, while the HTC One, iPhone 5S, and Xperia Z1 all have about 60-65%, the One having the highest percentage among them; not bad phone for a phone that has speakers which essentially gives it double the vertical bezel.

Unless LG bumps up the screen size again, which I hope they don't, they should be fine. You really wouldn't be too bad going for a mini version this year. With Motorola and Sony each giving their mini versions specs equivalent to their flagships, the others must feel a bit pressured to do the same, even if they don't, specs for a 2013 mid ranger were decent, 2014 mid rangers should be pretty great.
