0. phoneArena 10 Nov 2012, 04:05 posted on

VirnetX recently won a $368 million award against Apple in court; using the same patents, VirnetX says that Apple's new products like the Apple iPhone 5, the Apple iPad mini and other newer devices with FaceTime, infringe on VirnetX's IP...

Keep suing Apple and let them taste own medicine. They might get 1 Billion $ from Samsung, enough to pay up for all infringing patents they violated and few billions at the bank too, since theirs stock price have gone straight up past years. :)

Apple isn't the only company, and they aren't the first. What do you think this company is going to ask of Samsung, who sells more smartphones than anyone? Lenovo? Motorola? Google? You guys are confused. Apple makes products and patents their IP. This company doesn't make anything, they are just trolls.

No, Apple considers all IP to be their property. That's why, as they're patenting rectangles with rounded corners and suing the entire industry for it, they still haven't paid a dime for numerous tech patents from others like Motorola and Samsung, and even told a judge that they were above the law and wouldn't be bound by her decision if they didn't like it. Arrogance at its most extreme. I had hoped this arrogance would have died with Steve Jobs, but it seems to be more tightly ingrained than imagined.

Virnetx for the win. May the force be with you...and may you get every apple device removed from shelves everywhere. You can do it...for the betterment of the human race...failure is not an option.

Where's the "They're just protecting their IP's" comment? ^___^
BTW this suing due to patent is really getting more and more ridiculous.

Careful what you wish for, because this company isn't going to stop with Apple. EVERY phone capable of video chat is on the hook. Apple can afford to pay their fines, but how do you think HTC, Motorola, and Samsung will fare when they are looking at a billion dollar judgment?

i understand your point hemlocke. im curiouse if there js any backstory to this maybe the small company tried to settle out of court first but apple wouldnt be botherd thinking they had no grounds to stand on

Wouldn't they have to sue the app developer rather than the phone manufacturer? For OEMs other than Apple, Skype or Tango or another developer would be infringing rather than a phone OEM.

The OS enables the infringement, therefore, the OS developer gets to pay the damages.

If the OS itself doesn't infringe, then no, they are not liable.

Why? You think apple is the only one who should be allowed to protect their IP? 2.4 billion dollars was spent on their amazing and innovative rectangle technology. Maybe their next 2.4 will be spent on 'researching' how NOT to piss everyone off, and maybe actually 'develop' something. But I think we all know that won't happen.

$368 million isn't enough for the crime of apple, virnetx should ask more so apple could finally learn their lesson
