Adding insult to injury: Canada's Rogers says "No" to BlackBerry Z30

0. phoneArena 04 Oct 2013, 13:48 posted on

You would expect that most of the Canadian carriers would support BlackBerry; after all, the beleaguered manufacturer is also a Canadian based firm. And while BlackBerry was hoping that the excitement of its first 5 inch model might help it pick up some sorely needed business in the 4th quarter, the top Canadian carrier has decided not to carry the BlackBerry Z30...

Thats like rubbing salt in a wound. Dang...even Canada knows BlackBerry is no more. Lol and the US keeps certifying it for use like the white house and stuff. Don't know the details, but BlackBerry should just be sold. Its a shame when nobody wants you.

You're right. I somewhat like Bell's approach though. They still mention the Z10 in commercials, while Rogers doesn't. But then again, that's like giving BB false hope.

Not all of us want lagdroid, I currently have a blackberry z10 and the OS is by far the best of any smartphone, sure the n9 was the one that gave birth to the blackberry 10 os, it's definitely better than any lagdroid phone I've had since 2010, whether it's a nexus stock or a moster size note 2, the Android os still lags and it's less interesting than the new blackberry os, the only reason why blackberry failed because nowadays apps dictate a person's choice of a new device, which is sad, but true, we've moved completely away from what's good and just let the mainstream media tell us what to get

Congrats, stick with your Z10 from a defunct OEM on your defunct makeshift T-Mobile 4G (really 3.5G but, who's counting) Network. There's a winning combination.

Both of you live under a rock. Almost every android flagship since fall 2012 has had no lag and Tmobiles "3.5g" is just as fast as ATTs, I typically see 10mbps-15mbps in the few places I don't get LTE. Verizon and Sprint don't have real 4g either, also tmobile has had LTE for a while which is the exact same as ATT uses.

Yeah because unlike android I don't have problems with my phone every 6 months, so far no lag, love the ui, definitely more intuitive than your cheaper plastics (Galaxy Note 2) and definitely feels like a proper phone, sturdy and grippy, not plastic-ee and awkward, I used to have the note 2, but the first time I dropped it from the height of my waist it cracked, even with a case, I've dropped my z10 and even in falls that were rougher than my previous phones still not a single crack on my screen nor back, also I'm saving 40$ a month vs you and since I don't have a need to go to rural America I have unlimited 4G LTE to enjoy that sometimes gets me 40 maps download

Totally agreed mate. I don't understand all the hype about apps. It's crazy. Especially with the marketing Plastisung does, no wonder all the other OEMs on Lagdroid island are, sadly, on the brink of falling into the water. Not like they're currently doing bad, except for HTC, but it shows in the future - started with HTC, who's going to be next? Line 'em up, knock 'em down! xD Sad but true.

LG is not doing too hot either, oh well samsuck is really showing their true colors by making hardware that has nothing but gimmicks, there's absolutely no reason to get a samsuck phone

I bet your z10 lags more then my current N4s?
Heck, I'd pull old Onexs out of drawer and I bet they're smoother.

I'd even wager an iPhone is smoother.

They are either trolling or really ignorant. The blackberry Z10 is made out of better materials than most Samsung phones but you can only shine a turd so much and barley anyone bought their shined turd.. It is also much "laggier" than any recent flagships (Lag doesn't even exist in Android flagships anymore).

lies- see me there? in the verizon store? selling HTC ones, Galaxy S4's, DROID Ultras and I5S's? BBZ10 is superior by far- just doesnt have Netflix or google play.

let's do it, I've been through all android either stock and oem, but it just seems dull to me, all the swype gestures are just splendid, and nope, ever since it came out I've never had any lag, at all, I wish I could say the same after 6 months of use from either htc's or sammys plastics, but oh well no problem at all for me, my phone has it all, a non boring ui, swype gestures and very well organized, something that the messy android os may never see, oh haha and the camera in the nexus is pathetic, nothing but foggy pictures lol good luck man with that crappy phone that overheats quickly and the battery life sucks, compared to my z10, heck even my 808 PureView has better battery life that the nexus 4, and of course a better camera

So now its not about lag but the camera an other whiny issues.

It's not whiny, a nice balance of everything is important, to me at least. The nexus 4 has a lot of things against it, just the simple fact that it doesn't offer user replacement battery is a huge bummer, and the OS itself is a battery hog, but hey it's all about choice in the end, whether you have a phone that gets hot quickly, can't replace the battery without special tools and takes foggy pictures it's nothing but choice.

Hmmm, buddy's Nokia has a sealed battery and heats up some gaming, I guess it's a fail too by then metrics.

I get 15 hours bat life, which is a work day, it doesn't take foggy out even bad pictures, as good as my Onex at least.
I drive a wrecker, so I need a case that protects, so phone case is moot as I'm no metro dude.
Add in, no lag, 2gb ram last year's Adreno 320 which handles everything I use well and I'm not wanting.
Other then new Nexus for the LTE.

Now run along, your trolling to hard.

I forgot to say that, without Google, BB wouldn't have much more then a working camera an calculator.

Best thing that could happen to BB, is Google buys them out, shelves mobile division and supports their back end servers and such.
My bet is, she will be scuttled sooner then later.

You mean Nokia, right? Because the swiping patents were licence from Nokia for BlackBerry's new os, since the new os, in all honesty, is a revamped Meego, except for the 3 homepages Meego has

Ha ha sounds like you're trying to vindicate what a bad choice you made. Terrible battery, below average camera and the worst part, knowing that by the time your contract ends your phone won't be supported because blackberry are falling to pieces. If it makes you feel better. Good jab! Or, you could see the wood for the trees and realise there's a reason why nobody is buying them; they're average and outdated.

Sorry bro, tough times ahead. Its not a bad phone. But not a great one. Live with it and you can look forward to an android or iphone update in less than 2 years. #smileyface #wink

Well for one I don't have any contract, two when I got this phone I didn't burn an upgrade so in case my phone starts acting up I can just trade it in and upgrade, third how on earth do I have a terrible battery and below average camera? No that would be the beloved nexus

BB liquidating there phones is going to be one hell of a fire sale. When the price hits $199 For the Q10, Z10, there will be some sales. They have over a billion dollars of BB10 phones.

I can't understand why would anyone buy BB devices when the company is in begging stage? What happens if BB winds down their company and start selling underwears or perfumes? I'm not surprised if people still willing to buy them because they can't seem to let go the past. Sounds very pathetic. Move on!

I would like to challenge all of the android user and iphone users to try the Z10 and compare it to any android or iphone model. The Z10 has no lag. It is super smooth. Sure some of the Blackberrys of old did have some lag but the z10 does not have any. I was standing behind a girl that just switched from the g4 back to the iphone and I heard her say that I had forgot just how slow this phone is. Also what I find amazing is when I leave my z10 laying within my place of work People just cannot resist picking it up and playing with it. Let me see even 4 of them now have the z10. So go and try it. You will be surprised.
