Acer plans to release PDA phones in 2006

Acer plans to become a part of the PDA phones market in the second half of next year by introducing its PDA handsets, based on Windows Mobile operating system, according to company sources. Acer's PDA phones will come equipped with CPUs and flash memory chips from Samsung and will feature LCD displays, measuring 3.5x3.7 inches. The sources also revealed that the first device to be released will be a 3G-enabled model. All in all, Acer plans to launch about 1.5 million PDAs in 2006, intending one third of the devices to be GPS-enabled.
