Acer Liquid Glow Hands-on Review
Acer's Android smartphone portfolio might be relatively modest at this time, but we have to give the company a tip of the hat for presenting two very likeable offerings at MWC 2012, the Acer Liquid Glow being one of them. What we have our hands on is a device cemented in the mid-range category due to its average hardware specs, yet still leaving us with a good impression after tinkering with it for a while.

The Acer Liquid Glow is a compact smartphone that lays nicely in the hand thanks to its sloped sides. It feels nice to the touch due to the soft touch finish that its back cover has been treated to. Further inspection of the device reveals that it has been designed with attention to detail, which is always a good thing. We are also pleased with the 2-button volume rocker located on the smartphone's left side – it is well exposed and pressing it results in a nice click.

What we have on the Acer Liquid Glow's front is a 3.7-inch display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. At 252 pixels per inch, the result is a pleasant viewing experience with detailed visuals and sharp looking text.

The processor that ticks inside the Acer Liquid Glow is a 1GHz single-core processor accompanied by 512 megabytes of RAM. Nothing impressive, we know, but still, that is enough to deliver a generally smooth Android experience. Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich runs without much trouble on the smartphone, and it is good to know that Acer has not done any radical changes to its interface. In fact, the few modifications appear to be only superficial, and there are also several new widgets thrown in for good measure. And in case you are curious, the camera on the handset's back is of 5 megapixels.

We have to mention that Acer is not intending on marketing the Liquid Glow as a smartphone with cloud features. For those of you who are not familiar, the company has its own AcerCloud service for cloud-based storage of files. However, downloading the AcerCloud app from the Android Market should be possible in case you want to take advantage of the service.

And that is about it. Overall, the Acer Liquid Glow is a good mid-range offering, and we are hoping to see it launch at a reasonable price. We can expect seeing the smartphone on sale in several European markets within a two monts' time.
