Acer Iconia W3 pre-orders start on June 4, US launch confirmed

0. phoneArena 03 Jun 2013, 02:49 posted on

After appearing prematurely on the website of its maker, the Acer Iconia W3 tablet has now been given a proper unveiling at Computex. And it is just what we knew it was – a 8.1-inch slate running Windows 8 for the ultimate combination of portability and productivity. In fact, Acer is aiming to "put the desktop into a single hand" with its Iconia W3 tablet, which is a bold claim indeed. Is there any substance behind these words?...

Really nice one...really was waiting for more info about this one because 8" i find the best size for use on the go...
...but i sold my soul to Note 8...after one week of testing, i d say its definitelly best device in best size out there...right, full W8 is nice, but i realized that i do no need it at all...
Note 8 - 3G, Polaris Office is great replacement, S-pen is nice addition...baterry, weight, apps that i am used to use from android phone...

My main work is on remote server which i do "Remote Desktop Connection"...Jump Desktop app from Play store is great alternative to RDP app on W8 - but even better, when i am on my server, i even can use gestures, 2 fingers to scroll, copy/paste between RDP server and native android apps...try to copy/paste on W8 RDP and some metro or desktop app - NOT POSSIBLE.
Best feature of androids RDP clients is that you can set your resolution to display on your tablet, where WIN RDP sets your default tablets res, you can set RDP for example 1600x1200 and easily pinch in/out to zoom...so you can benefit to display more information on your screen if you work with charts, etc...yes, it gets smaller but remeber pinch to zoom - win does not have!

There are tons of reasons why (peronally I) will stay with android untill RDP app from M-soft will be as usable as any other RDP alternative from playstore.

Only thing i did not solved yet is printing out of RDP via android, this would be much easier probably with W8 tablet...but will try to solve with some wifi printer probably must be a samsung one...if i could remote print to my android device from remote Win machine it would be perfect...

So i use Note 8 with full windows desktop experience....

That's awesome and pretty exciting. Good for Acer to be the first to dip their toe in the water!
