If you're looking for a gift for your child; I'd recommend buying them a used gen 1 Kindle Fire off of Craigslist. They're only about $90-110 right now on my Craigslist and they're great at being locked down for children's use. My daughter has had one for a year and she loves it. Plus I like the piece of mind that she isn't going to be buying anything without my permission. She's accidentally purchased things 4 times while playing with my Android phone. So Kindle Fire is definitely my go to platform for children's tablets.
