Ace Matrix: Google Nexus 7 ads are more effective than those genius ads from Apple

According to advertising form Ace Matrix, the ad for the Google 7 Nexus showing a father and son camping is more effective than the series of ads from Apple for the Mac that show a "genius" who is asked to defuse some sort of crisis using Apple products...

I believe it, the Mac adds are crazy, especially when the guy's wife is having a baby and all he can think about is his Mac. Seriously Apple if you don't want ppl to view your company as a cult don't show people unnaturally attached to your devices.

Agreed. Apple's ads have been progressively getting more haughty and pretentious. Just because they advertise proprietary programs or features that are matched or exceeded by the competition they want people to think they offer something special or unique , when in actuality they're offering overpriced garbage with most of the platforms' capabilities coming from third party programs and modifications, in short, an incomplete product that is a launcher for other products

I think so too. To me it also suggests that the whole "genius" thing, and you needing help. That Apple products are complicated. Which they are so I guess the commercials fittin in that way.

man those commercials are quite lame, I've always said apple had good marketing, I don't know how this helps people get their products more (maybe I just don't see it)... it seems apples add campaign is going downhill

Yeah, those Mac ads are pretty terrible.
The gist is that the Mac isn't easy to use, because you need to get a Genius if you want to understand how to use it. So much for "it just works," I guess. Now they have, "it just works, as long as you are close enough to an Apple Store to get help."

Lol you know if this article was the other way around, as in the apple ads are more effective, there would be all those people who always complain about articles about apple. Even when its a positive article for android you still have people, like the ones above, taking jabs at apple. Oh well haters gonna hate. Love my mac

I'm sorry but if Apples adds where effective... it wont be news apple ads are always some of the most effective, in fact is a part of why its products are so popular and considered easy to use, their adds educated users about the device features, on the other hand Google didn't make any adds at all witch it something that caused people to think android was way more complex that what it really is, (check atrix commercials), one of the secrets behind a product susses is how it is advertised (It helped the Galaxy S2).... so saying this Google has learned to make adds for its products... and honestly those Mac commercials Suck, no matter how well you put it he talks about "i" this and "i" that but unless you already own a mac this has no meaning and I don't see how he manages to do stuff as apps are never shown in action.... but hey enjoy your mac

I don't think people are saying the Mac is bad, just the ad campaign is bad.
And they are, which one is twisting your arm?
I nearly bought a few Macs for my office about 6 weeks ago, but I could not justify the expense (so I bought PCs). Even now, the ads aren't making me regret my decision. Don't you wish they would do that for millions of people?

Well they've claimed ownership of an apple device or two if memory serves, but seem against the idea of support or purchase of apple devices in the future, then seems to change back. Dunno.

Yeah, all tablets before and after the ipad look roughly the same (especially in the dark), so your mistake is understandable (though the title of the video did say Nexus7...) ;)

When I saw the ad on TV i did think it was an iPad at first. But then I saw the buttons and realized. It's a very good ad.

Cut it out. Nobody advertises or markets like Apple. They are the best bar none! Hate all you want but facts are facts. Apple is the best at advertising and marketing!

The Nexus ad is a really great ad that actually made me smile when I saw it the first time! It's pretty to look at, develops some emotion, shows fun ways to use the product, and really makes a person desire the product!
These new apple ads are probably the worst in Apples history! Badly acted. Badly thought out. Showing NO product whatsoever, and simply list features that I would not buy a product for. On top of that make the customer seem dumb.

The concept of the genius ads are a failure. What they are saying is the devices are so complicated, you need someone to constantly help you with them. I'm surprised Apple went this route, it really goes against their concept of anyone being able to use their devices. Both the iPhone and iPad ads just show the device being used in a multitude of ways, much like what Google did with the N7.

Shocker that android fans agree that these Apple ads suck, but also claim Apple products only sell because of marketing. You guys have to pick a side. Can't have it both ways.
Also you guys are saying good job google for marketing while you bash away at Apple for marketing.

Besides, there are a lot of apple ads which is way better than this, surf youtube instead :D

@taco apple's previous ads were relatively compelling for the uninformed, the ones with the male voiceover ("if you don't have an iphone you don't have an iphone") as they showed things that many consumers hadn't seen before, and/or used the red herring of naming apple-only or proprietary features (isight, facetime, icloud) to make it seem like only such capabilities were possible on an iphone or other advertised product. Thus you'd have uninformed shoppers asking for iphones when they meant any smartphone, or something that could do facetime when they meant video chatting. Apple is/was good about planting an idea and a brand into a possible consumer's mind, and if the target didn't research their potential purpose properly, would have been a successful acquisition by the advertising company.
That said, these three are pretty awful, very demeaning to the customer and, honestly the apple worker, as they're being bombarded about their work even in a public setting, mostly because they are, for whatever unfathomable reason, wearing their uniform and ID badge on public (and on a plane, wtf?!). The siri ads were a step in the wrong direction too, as while it introduced apple's foray into voice vobtrol/assistance, they negated the 4s's decent camera and hardware inprovements, and made a beta product the main selling point of the device. The fact that the devices advertised can rarely, if ever, replicatr what is seen on the advertisement is, IMHO, the most contemptible move in the ads. Its roughly akin to chevy saying they can take a stock truck to the Baja 1000 and have it survive and win, or Bounty saying you could clean the outside of one's house with one towel sheet, or, perhaps more accurately, that only chevy makes trucks that compete in the Baja 1000 or Bounty is the only maker of paper towels that can absorb fluid. Not quite false advertising exactly (but darn close) but sketchy at best. Or, perhaps more accurately still chevy saying only it has DuraMax V8s, even though other companies offer V8s in their trucks and that the DuraMax engine is actually Isuzu's, much like how the iphone uses a Sony camera, Samaung chips, Qualcomm radios, and a large amount of Nokia tech to make it work. Same as Bounty saying only it has its special liquid absorbing pockets (I don't remember what they call their version), whereas other paper towels have absorbent pockets, are made from the same materials, just in a slightly different fashion.
I think I'm going to add TP, tissues, and paper towels to my list of designs that are also obvious and industry standard that apple doesn't seem to understand

It's a commercial! There's all kinds of silly commercials, but of course you're offended by Apple's. No shock here as you hate everything Apple.
Siri not working like in the commercial is another bs line from you. I have Siri and I can tell you I get the same results you see in the commercials 90% of the time. No voice assistant is 100% accurate, but you saying it never works right is just another fandroid bs line.

While I agree that no voice control or input is 100% accurate, I can't agree about the accuracy of the commercials. The sequences are significantly shortened (as noted in fine print on the ad, an apple tradition), and many of the used commands or input would not get the responses advertised. The Samuel L. Jackson one probably being the worst: say "hot-spacho" to it and see what it says.

Apple has historically been good at marketing, but the new ads Mac ads are bad.
Google's ads have historically been non-existent, but this one is good.
