Just about a month ago, we reported how AT&T was in the pipe line of rolling their 3G MicroCell on a nationwide scale - now it's looking like it's becoming...

Wait, so does this make AT&T's 3G expand or something? That would be really nice. But I don't get it. :\

The AT&T's 3G MicroCell are connected to broadband internet to boost up signal in your house, it doesnt expand the 3g Coverage, it gives you 3g connectivity in your house.... just correct me if i'm wrong __Nokia N97, HTC Magic user...

skd_62, you are right...it creates a secure 3G single for you and whomever you allow access with in so many feet. AT&T is expanding its 3G coverage they are putting billions into their network expanding 3G, upgrading HSPDA from 3.6 to 7.2 (a preliminary step for 4G, and adding more wifi hot spots. http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/why/3gmicrocell/

This is the same thing that tmo did a couple years ago with the original concept of hotspot@home before they turned it into a home phone line, its a great idea too bad tmo didnt market it right, im sure like every other thing that tmo does right it will be blown up by one of the big 2 carriers and do well for them, just like i hear people saying now that verizon was the first to have an android phone. its ridiculous but hey that is what marketing does.

This is nothing like the TMO tmobile@home. That service used wifi to connect no longer putting usage on TMO's network. Thee product AT&T/Sprint?Verizon are using/putting out is a Femtocell product that will allow the broadband connection directly into the unit making a mini cell site in your home. Way different technology and inter workings

I worked for tmo and now i am employeed by at&t, yes it is different tech but it is the same concept, where tmo really dropped the ball was only allowing certain phones to take advantage of the uma technology, they were either ugly phones that no one wanted or blackberrys and not every one needs a blackberry. Once again tmobile is like the guinea pig for good ideas but they never seem to be able to execute correctly.
