AT&T to offer James Bond's Sony Xperia TL in a promotional tie-in to the next 007 film

0. phoneArena 01 Oct 2012, 10:07 posted on

James Bond gets to select the best equipment and now those in the U.S. will be able to purchase the same phone that 007 will be using in the upcoming release, Skyfall; the 13MP camera on the device goes from standby to first shot in just 1.5 seconds...

If 007 had that phone he wouldn't be able to locate his destination with the Apple Maps. Besides it is James Bond were talking about here.....not Austin Powers...

I agree not because I am siding with the Note 2 but because I really don't see how this is the SONY flagship. Its short on the processor and RAM in my books...too little too late perhaps?
Sony does not enjoy market share like Samsung and Apple therefore they cant afford to compromise on hardware specs and their UI isnt exactly very popular not to mention their horrid naming schemes...whats up with that SONY?
Sony you can do better and we expect better so...Make Believe...Make Us Believe!

Horrid naming schemes, the only thing that is different from Apple's naming scheme is the numbers, what's up with "iphone 3, iphone 4, iphone 4s, iphone 5" and the next one would rither be "iphone 5s or iphone 6" and it's safe to say they will still be playing catch-up. And samsung, what's "galaxy pocket duos or ruch or reverb or appeal" oh yes and i can't help but notice they are copying apple with the 1, 2, 3 bull crap. So what i'm trying to say here is don't talk about naming schemes just....don't.

Last time I saw a spy movie, they needed portable equipment that they can carry anywhere, not big ass phones that look cheap.

yeh Note 2 does have sick specs but when u look at benchmarks Sony phones dish out all performance out of their hardware so they beat them in some tests. IF sony had s4 quad krait and 2 gigs of ram GOD DAM that would be a day to behold

Without a doubt! Haven't seen a single bad James Bond film, starting from Dr. No in the 60's.

I'm only 25, though lol.

The only thing I'm worried about is the battery life. This phone doesn't have a removable battery to expand huh?

Oh and, the phone will obviously launch November 9, with the release of Skyfall in theaters.

yea if this "TL" is the same "T" that we been looking at for some time then it doesnt have a removable battery........Thats why im looking forward to the TX, and V as well they both have removable ones and the V is interesting because its water resistant!

Yea the L just stands for LTE capable basically. Yea the V is actually pretty amazing. It has 342 ppi on a 4.3 inch screen at 720x1280. Any idea when the V might come?

None in the U.S.

I think it'll be sold unlocked to buy for full price. Because if the U.S. gets the T, no way the V will come too, especially when they are very similar.

Forget the AT&T log period. Apple got away with not having logos on their iPhone. Why can't Sony?

Honestly, this phone has has a certain manly aura to it(matte back and monolithic dark appearance in the black version) incomparable to that of any competitor, plus the arched back does add that decisive touch of cool and style perfect for the Bond phone.
Also, the Timescape UI is equally cool with its subtle elegance and sonic flow live wallpaper.
I can barely imagine an IPhone as a Bond phone, and Galaxy S3 in the same role would be laughable.
Only passable contenders would be a black Lumia 920 and Galaxy Nexus, but not even close to this imo.

To everyone that thinks it should be another phone, it will never happen.
I highly doubt Columbia (part of Sony Pictures btw) would ever use something other than Sony in any movie they produce.

Sony is far nicer than any other phone on the market:)

Why the Sony hating ? I just picked the ion and while its running an older s3 processor its nice and snappy and barely even has had a hickup...runs a lot nicer than the piece of crap HTC one x that I had last month and returned because while it did have a gorgeous display all the darn thing did was crash crash crash not connect to wifi it wouldn't stay connected to the wifi and I'm not talking about small app crashes I'm talking about Android crashes....and I returned it for another one and 4 hours after taking it out of the box itcrashed !!! I've had this Sony for 4 days now and it runs great it has a very.bright and crisp display a good camera in bright lighting decent at low light and battery life has been good for me no different than the one x was, or my lumina 900 was plus this phone has a gorgeous design it feels like a premium device...and while the sammys and HTC phones costed me a pretty penny I just got.this phone for $0 with an upgrade

im liking the sound of that man no doubt! but i gotta ask if maybe you were downloading a little to much on your one x?? for it to be crashing like that?

I'm a pretty heavy smartphone user I upgrade every 6 months to a new phone thanks to my 4 additional lines on my account...yep I'm nuts about phones lol .... the phone would constantly crash when redirected from twitter to any web browser which I found very odd and literally on the first day of owning the phone I got a Android crash error when answering the phone....twice on 2 handsets maybe I just got 2 lemons I don't know but in all my years of owning a smartphone ive never encountered so many issues and when I returned it some poor girl was experiencing the same thing on hers except she was past her 30 days so she couldn't just return like I did....but I must admit this Xperia ion so far is quite a joy and has worked flawlessly...I was a little skeptical about this device but so far I haven't had any thoughts of returning it...something that after 1 day with the one x I did...could be I'm a fan of sony ...Sony TVs PS3 Sony stereos, so maybe that has something to do with it but in all honesty for having to pay nothing out of pocket for this device I really feel you can't go wrong sure there are more powerfullphones on the market but this is a true bang for the buck experience...however was just a best buy and the Motorola atrix HD is now free....stay posted I'm sure I may be rocking that in a week but then again I really like this device =)
