AT&T to launch Nokia Lumia 920 for $100, Lumia 820 priced at $50, 16GB HTC 8X to cost $200
0. phoneArena posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:07
Well, what do you know: the AT&T Nokia Lumia 920 will cost only $100 with a 2-year contract, not $150, as it was previously believed. Word comes from the carrier itself, which just announced the pricing of its upcoming Windows Phone 8 handsets, along with their release dates. Everyone eyeing that Lumia 920, with PureView camera technology, high-res screen, and wireless charging capabilites, should mark November 9 in their calendars. AT&T will start accepting pre-orders for the smartphone on November 7...

Nokia is nailing it with that price...I was expecting $150 on contract but at $100 its a very sweet deal!

LOL at HTC Pricing, they had thumbs down specs comapred to Lumia in every aspect and still priced double the Lumia 920 price with half storage
14. Nathan_ingx posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:29 7 1
Do i blame HTC or AT&T for the pricing???
'cause 8X's price is downright stupid...who's going to buy that when one can get the 920 for half the price??
...and considering their status in the market...this is not a good move!

Htc. It's the same price on Verizon.
21. Goldeneye posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:18 3 1
Yeah but Verizon's pricing is higher its 820 will be $100 while at&t's is only $50 go figure.
49. theo14461 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 13:50 2 0
It's because Verizon is greedy.
51. pookiewood posted on 06 Nov 2012, 13:51 0 0
Don't get it twisted AT&T is as well but they are doing the right thing in this case.

My guess is, you haven't actually played around with these phones side by side. It is easy to compare specs but when you have these both in your hands, the HTC is pretty sweet. Nokia has the sweet spot at $99 and I am sure $199 is to high of a price. Go into a store and barter down to $150 and the HTC is worth every penny.
3. FranksGT posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:13 12 1
Wow fail on HTC with bad pricing. $200 for a HTC? Really. They usually come out with good pricing. Hard to compete with Nokia when they are offering a Decent product and a beautiful price point.
5. StreetNerd posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:17 8 1
wow so cheap.... sadly it will be expensive here in europe :(
6. FranksGT posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:17 3 2
HTC done decided since they were already slowing sinking their ship, misewell throw the anchor to way it down a bit! Bye bye HTC. I see minimal WP8 SALES for you. I loved your products but your advertising has failed and your pricing is even worse.

When you say Windows phone, that means Nokia and only Nokia.
Samsung, you were so lucky because Nokia didn't adopt Android.

If Nokia ends up being the sole WP device maker, but were succesful and supporting, I would be fine with that. I think it is fairly unlikely, but no sweat. I just want to keep about 4 OS's available for competition sake.

The 920. How Much is the 920 without a contract?
41. TrainFromUkraine posted on 06 Nov 2012, 11:08 0 0
$450 = $100 contract price + $350 termination fee. That's how you calulate no-commitment prices on AT&T
47. tech-head posted on 06 Nov 2012, 12:25 0 0
Incorrect
$325 minus $10 for each full month
of completed Service Commitment

If Nokia adopted Android, it would be a remake of SONY. They would barely sell anything and release a rebranded phone every 3 months. Most of the Nokia phones I have owned weren't great. Nokia Maps wasn't nearly as accurate as Google Maps and this is personal experience. Had my Nokia Lumia 900, tried to get directions to a Walmart in another state, wouldnt even find walmart or a walmart close by. Did it on google maps found it instantly. I litterally had to google the address for the Nokia to even recognize it! Also the horrible weight and design of the Lumia. Only thing I did like was the material it was made from!
36. Johnnokia posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:39 3 1
Do you know what does Nokia mean???
Or your first phone was Iphone 5?
quit trolling and get a life
18. pfroo40 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 09:45 2 1
The Lumia 920 is obviously being heavily subsidized, either by Nokia selling it to AT&T cheaply or AT&T increasing subsidy on it. $200 for the 8X is competitive, it's not HTC's fault that they're being seriously undercut.
24. bhagi108 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:21 1 0
updates from ATT will be slow, so I'm going with an international unit. NO more contracts for me!
42. TrainFromUkraine posted on 06 Nov 2012, 11:10 0 0
Unlike Android phones AT&T has noting to do with Windows Phone updates, much like it is with iPhone. They come straight from MS and Nokia.
44. bhagi108 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 11:27 1 0
didn't know that, thanks for letting me know since this will be my first windows phone. But still no contract for me ...will hate them! always buy my phones at retail price
67. o7o posted on 07 Nov 2012, 14:24 0 0
You can get it from AT&T for 450$ contract-free, locked to AT&T but no contract.
28. snowgator posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:27 0 1
That sucking sound you hear is HTC being pushed aside on AT&T as it becomes a non-factor.
30. dexter_jdr posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:31 0 0
why didnt they mention all lumia 920s on att are on 32gb?
31. dexter_jdr posted on 06 Nov 2012, 10:33 1 1
half the price for half the memory? 16gb>> 8gb???????? ha.ha.
43. camera531 posted on 06 Nov 2012, 11:23 0 1
AT&T should be pushing WP8 equally, but is instead getting all behind Nokia and completely screwing HTC. The pricing is completely biased and will kill the 8X, and I like how they're deliberately delaying the 8X launch for weeks to give Nokia even more limelight. And to top it off, only the two worst colors of the 8X will be available! Why limit the color choices to blue or bright yellow!!? Most buyers would want black or red, which isn't available while ALL Nokia colors are. Why is AT&T even carrying the 8X?
48. nokia4ever posted on 06 Nov 2012, 12:58 0 0
could someone tell me does wp8 support sideload of apps from watever source i get them from
64. Shubham412302 posted on 07 Nov 2012, 02:20 0 1
have the same question....
But atleast it supports mass storage modes so may be filemanagers
And soon xda dev. will hack it to have sideload apps
53. papss posted on 06 Nov 2012, 15:10 0 0
Now that is one competitive price. They will destroy with pricing like that.. hell even the 820 is priced great. This almost makes up for the terrible delay
55. Bernoulli posted on 06 Nov 2012, 15:26 0 0
Yeah but you have to think how much extra a month at$t charges compared to other carriers, so cheap phones don't exactly come cheap
56. papss posted on 06 Nov 2012, 17:59 0 0
I get that but in my area AT&T is LTE area and for me I'll pay more for better service.
62. Bernoulli posted on 06 Nov 2012, 23:06 0 0

54. Bernoulli posted on 06 Nov 2012, 15:25 0 0
Not Trough a contract with at$t much rather buy it unlocked and use it with t-mobile
