Yeah I really don't understand their price tag?? Its not the newest technology. If the GS3, the Lumia 920 and the Optimus G are $99.99 then there's no way the BB z10 should be more than that. Especially as low as the manufacturing prices were..

RIM this price tag isn't going to help your cause.

I agree as well. Whats so new about the Z10 that we havent seen from Apple, Samsung, or HTC?? Makes no sense for the Z10 to be $200. I dont see this phone becoming a big seller in the eyes of the consumers

First of all who would buy this for 200$ when they can get the Lumia920 for 50-100$? And if you say BB fans, ..i think BB fans want the Q10 more than this because of the QWERTY keybord...

Man I totally agree with everyone so far, this thing is way over priced...are they trying to get customers back? Seems more like they're acting like everyone still thinks blackberry is the only "IT" device to have out there or something...crazy..

It's higher than I expected. If I were to rationalize why:

1. BB's core segment should be business customers (note: I'm not referring to end-users here), which as a group are less price sensitive than consumers. Discounting can always be done for larger purchasers It's easier to drop price then increase it.;
2.. Also, BB may just be noncompetitive from a manufacturing standpoint, so its pricing needs to be higher.

It's also possible that they view themselves as a substitute for other premium handsets. Until the last year or so, then-RIM tended to have premium pricing despite so-so hardware specs. The brand did have value for some (not me).

We'll let the market decide that last point.

The Z10 is now just a mid range phone with a crap eco system. .. $199? I mean seriously? If you have an unproven track record in the touchscreen smartphone business you have absolutely no right to put a premium price tag on that one.

Microsoft launched flagships at the 99$ price point and has been struggling to gain traction. Now blackberry thinks they can launch a whole new OS on a completely new style of phone that doesn't have the classic keyboard that many of the loyalists held onto....I don't know what they're thinking but RIM is really messing up here. This should have been 99$ max.

If your talking about the Lumia 900/920 then your wrong about it failing. Its certainly not selling like the GS3 or iPhone 5 is, however for being still a fairly fresh product its gaining ground. Its on the rise and will continue to do so. Meanwhile RIM is falling fast.
