sucks that iphone is running on ATT, shit ass service but great phone. once verizon gets the memo that gsm is better, at&t will plumet

gsm? verizon has no intention on going to gsm. CDMA is working just fine considering the network is better then any gsm network in the US. everyone made a big deal about 3g coming out with ATT, hahaha verizon has had its EVDO network for a while now and with EVDO you actually get service in more places then you do with 3g. Im sure they'll expand there 3g network sooner or later but it will still be a few years before they catch up in network size.

yeah well I live in south Dakota where we can't even get the iPhone. So I'm stuck with my poor crappy voyager.

I've seen some pretty dumb comments on here. Number 19, why the hell would you want an iPhone 3G when there is no 3G in S. Dakota? Please explain that to me. You are better off getting the original phone. As a matter of fact, in S.D. ( if you look at their coverage map ) just about all of the coverage you have out there is roaming from another carrier's tower. And this is the type of service you want? Oh, I forgot, because the iPhone is "cool" and everybody else has one ... duuuhhhhh!!!! To #17 ... nope, I'm not a VZW fanboy, I just enjoy great service. What the hell makes the iPhone the "best phone" ever??!!! Please tell me. It's a nice phone, but I'll stop there. Let's see: No MMS, higher price plan than the original, no removable battery, AT&T and Apple are still unsure about insuring the damn thing, music purchases can only be done with a WiFi connection, and it's a 3G capable phone that runs on a network that has very little 3G coverage. Did I mention that if you try to use the syncing doc from the previous version it won't work? Ooops, that's another $30 to shell out. Yeah, this is definitely the best thing since sliced bread .... Moldy bread.

What are you scared of, Wi-Fi??? Wi-Fi is faster than 3G or Ev-Do...

we do have 3 g in south Dakota. VERIZON and alltel... Not like that matters. I'm just saying it sucks having very little options when it comes to phones. No AT&T and no tmo.

You are better off without AT&T and TMO. Look at the track record. EVERY JDpower award went to VZW and Altell (exept a cust service awad to TMO). Consumer reports? Yeah they went with VZW also. If you have tried the two best reviewed comanies in the industry and hated them, where is the logic in wishing for a company that doesn't even WORK OUT THERE! That is why they are rated so poor! Altell, a regional company, beat AT&T!!! A NATIONAL COMPANY!!! Spin it however you want to but it sounds like you are saying "I tried both kinds of cake, and didn't like eaither one. I want to try the DOG SH*T but they don't serve it here in South Dakota." Weird.

If you are unhappy with the undisputed champion, think about it. Should you try the looser? Or just lower your freaking expectations?

gsm networks get all the best phones first. And when they make it to vERIZON they are given the big red treatment...ie the htc touch. Nothing compares to the os of apple or the touchscreen of the iPhone. VERIZON has great service but most of the phones are Wack. The thunder better be amazing

And actually there is a local company in SD that offers GSM (longlines) and if you get an unlocked iPhone you can have it in SD, the southeast portion of course but it's possible!!

i think phone service is the least of your worries living in south dakota..lol...what the hell do you do in that random ass state?
36. (unregistered) posted on 18 Jul 2008, 19:13 0 0
the same things everyone everywhere else does. Some parts actually aren't random at all. ..does anyone know if long lines wireless has data coverage?
44. (unregistered) posted on 21 Jul 2008, 08:04 0 0
wifi isnt faster. its just another type of connection. your speed depends on the actual speed that the router acesses.

Long lines has data but it's not fast by any means. You'll still have wifi though

i kind of thought the same thing oh look the iphone how gay is that, but after playing around with my friends for a few hours i like it, sure its not like my tilt with an actual keypad but it does seem to have a faster processor than my tilt does, im not much of a windows mobile fan to begin with but its the only thing i can use with my work email, my comp at home runs Ubuntu Linux which is almost simmilar to mac, and i have used linux for years the iphone is a locked down linux smart phone to be blunt, and its the only decent linux pda and or smart phone that seems to have come out, not bashing nokia or nothing with there open platform with symbian, if it came down to it, id get the nokia touch before i iphone just because apple likes to lock down things. if i did manage to get an iphone id get the first gen one because it has the 2.0 firmware out for it and i would install a voip client and use it as my new kick ass home phone lol... thats just my two cents

OS X is based heavily on UNIX and so anyone familiar with UNIX, BSD or Linux will most likely feel at home.

Wow....some of you guys are flat out retarded. The iphone was sold world wide, it sold great world wide, but we all knwo the US is small time when it comes to cell phone tech and marketing. and we SHOULD all know the US economy and weak dollar would be more than neough reason for apple to short the US shipment, and send it over to a better marketplace like japan or europe. and it's not the first company to do so, remember when the Wii fit was shorted to the US and shipements moved over to europe? and to any of you simple minded fools who actually think this is a supply and demmand issue...please god STOP FREAKING POSTING. this is typical apple, from the orginal Ipod, to the macbooks, to, well to almost EVERYTHING they have sold. why do you think all of those apple fanboys line up? because they KNOW they are only going to get the first week or so befor apple magically "runs short" and it will be a month before you get it again. usally at a cheaper price, with more features, or some stuff added to it. it's basic apple marketing 101 -ATT user, mac owner since late 90's
