AT&T is going to screw you if you have an iphone (pre3g) Look up the pricing for existing customers. AT&T is evil.

i like how apple continues to do this with all their products. just like the first iphone how they released it with a small hard drive and waited for everyone to buy one, then released one with a bigger hard drive so everyone would have to buy that one. in this case, they told everyone how the newest iphone is cheaper than the old one but they forgot to figure in the extra monthly bill without unlimited text messages and the fact that it is only cheap for new customers and upgrades. down with apple.

27. EN (unregistered) posted on 03 Jul 2008, 01:30

I doubt that many people who bought the one with the smaller harddrives canceled their contract and bought the one with the bigger harddrives. the goal of that is to attract NEW customers. Not make their current customers buy another iphone.

30. EN (unregistered) posted on 03 Jul 2008, 01:43

but if anyone was to do something stupid like cancel their contract and buy a bigger version, then good job to apple for taking advantage of those idiots. they should come out with a 17 gigabyte iphone 3g in September so all the people who had 16gig will cancel their contract and buy the 17gig one.

35. mikehatesapple (unregistered) posted on 03 Jul 2008, 17:28

well yes, it would be stupid to cancel your contract but doesn't mean you can't buy one without canceling your contract. you don't think people were pissed when they purchased the smaller hard drive iphone and then they came out with a bigger one for just a little more. i would be pissed personally. just like their stupid ipods. they release a white one, everyone buys it. then a month later they release a black one, everyone buys it. then they release a pink one, everyone buys it. why not stop ******* with the consumers and release all the ******* colors at once, i doubt it takes research and time to add a different color. why didn't they just release a 3g phone in the beginning? the technology was out there and there was plenty of phones with it. they treat their customers like idiots, well not saying they aren't. but whatever. i refuse to buy one and never will own an ipod. everyone else can act like sheep and i'll keep my distance.

THANK YOU!!!! Im on board with this guy! iproduct are all propriatary piles of garbage to target cm into buying the same thing over and over again, If i didnt know any better I'd think Nintendo was in bed with Apple with as many G-Dang handhelds they have (i.e Game boy Advance, Advance color, DS, DS lite, DS lite color) all within a couple of months....scam, Atleast when microsoft comes out with stuff after you buy, its compatable with what you already bought, rather than having to re-buy...youd think as an industry leader Apple would learn a few things.

i am glad someone agrees and can see the logic. and further more, the touch diamond does everything the stupid iphone does and looks better in my opinion. it even has a better screen. that will be the phone i am getting.

Hehe. SPRINT FOR THE WIN!!!! Yes they have crappy Customer Service - most of the time. Yes they have ugly phones! Yes the INSTINCT is not anything like the iPhone! Yes in some places the coverage is not Verizon! Yes, Nextel merge stinks! Yes, some people can get overcharged and takes 2 years to get a 50% refund. Yes, ..... wait I lost my point.. AHhh!!! BUT..... YOU CAN GET A SERO PLAN IN WHICH YOU PAY $30 and you get UNLIMITED text, data, MMS, and 500 min. Yes, HTC phones are crappy, BUT, with that monthly price :D

36. XxTNTxX posted on 03 Jul 2008, 21:36

HTC isn't crappy. Maybe their older phones are; however the HTC Revolution is just beginning. . .

I guess you could say I am spoiled since I am a 16 year old with an original Iphone, and my parents complain that we pay liek $130 for our family plan every month but I really wanted to get this new one, but with those plans, that is just outrageous! we would be paying like $180 per month, I don't think this Iphone 3g will be as succesful as expected..with those plans it will ruin its chances.. I guess I will be waiting for the sony ericsson xperia x1 or the blackberry bold :]

Sorry that scrolling through music and youtube, and taking pictures with your obsolite 2mp camera is entertaining to all you iFools, ooohhh cool touch screen who cares, what do you do with it? scroll and pinch and spread, sounds like something I would do on a lonly weekend...the point is, theres nothing new here, the touch is great, THATS IT! but what do you touch? you can only scroll through your music gaze at google earth, or find sofcore on youtube for so long with your finger before it gets old. the touch technology is all it has going for it and for anyone willing to waist there money get the iTouch, casue youll be able to play with the phone without the crappy service attached to it to it, buy it for what its intended for, a toy, dont waist you time integrating it to be a phone.

You should really shut your trap. Regardless of whether you are an iphone fanboy or not, Apple has completely raised the bar for phones in the U.S. That's why so many phones dare to look like the iphone. If you watched the Apple keynote address recently, you would understand what the new iphone is going to do. Well, let's put it this way: you don't hear about Doctor's using the LGDare to record patient records and to demonstrate virtual 3D models to patients. You don't hear about people using the Nokia E90 to play games with the same interface you find in the Wii. Really, you don't hear about anybody doing anything with their phones other than talking--except the iphone. The devleopment environment is so easy to use and so robust that when the new platform drops (any week now), you will wish you had one. I hate AT&T and would love to switch providers. The iphone is just so much nicer than any other phone despite it's quirks.

I work for Verizon Wireless and I personally own the iPhone. I use it in addition to my company phone. I'll tell you right now that the "dare" can't touch the iPhone. It is nowhere near as responsive. The are so many reasons that Verizon's touch panels that are being rolled out are nowhere close. Contrary to popular belief, just because a phone uses a touch user-interface, doesn't mean they're all equally as easy to use. Next time you all want to boast or rip down a particular phone,..make sure you know what your talking about. Don't read about it. Use it. Seriously.

ok i understand the the iphone interface is the best along with the tough screen, but lets not for get that the iphone does more things cause its a pda, the dare and voyager are regular phones on steriods, but if your not a bus. man , you nedd to get the dare ya the new iphone is the same price but look the old iphone was for 399.99 plus the $20 per month for the data pack in a two year span thats 879.99 the new iphone is 199.99 but the new calling plan is $30 data pack so in the span of the two year contract its 919.99 so in reality its more expensive. the dare only 199.99 and the data pack is only $15 and runs on rev A with is much faster than the new G3 iphone so you decide?

straight and simple there are going to be lines starting wednesday night and a crap load of media coverage just like last year. No cell phone that i know of has gotten so much media coverage unlike this device with the exception of the motorola v3 when it first came out. Everyone can say that att sucks and vzw is better or that the instict is the "iphone killer" but in the end no will give a crap about that and will go out and buy the phone.

59. XxTNTxX posted on 08 Jul 2008, 02:38

Lines already started forming in NY. those ppl wanna go for the World's Longest Wait In Line for a product (or sumthing like that). Also, Apple just knows how to market their products better than the rest.

People keep referring to the Dare as a $200 phone. Most people I know, though, are already Verizon users and not at the end of their contracts, which means we'd have to pay the full $410 price. This isn't usually an issue because most people just wait the given 2 years to upgrade, but this summer phones are coming out that seem almost worth it. The fact that you can cancel Verizon service and switch to an iPhone for less than it costs for a full priced Dare seems like an option worth looking into, even with the lesser service. I went to the Verizon store yesterday, hoping hands on time with the Dare would be enough to make me fork over the full price, since they're also running a promotion that nets you a free 8GB stick. Then I found out that that deal only applies to new subscribers and upgrades. So I'd be paying twice as much as everyone else and I don't even get the free gift? That seemed ridiculous to me. I figured non AT&T carriers would try to entice their current subscribers to stay a little bit more than they seem to be.
