AT&T slices $15 off of its 2GB Mobile Share Value plan

0. phoneArena 08 Mar 2014, 14:27 posted on

AT&T has said that it and Verizon weren't going after the same value driven customer that appeals to T-Mobile. Still, the nation's second largest carrier is responding to T-Mobile's recent hike in unlimited pricing, by cutting the price of its base rate for the Mobile Share Value plan. Not including the per-smartphone cost of the service, 2GB of data will now cost $40 monthly, down from $55...

I did the same. I have 4 lines, went from paying $275 for 700 Minutes, unlimited texting and 3GB data per line down to $175 with 10GB data, unlimited calling and unlimited text.

Best plan change ever! $100 richer every month.

No contract? If you have your own phone maybe... If you don't and you need a phone and don't have the $500-$700 to buy a premium phone? Then you have a contract. With T-Mo on the phone you just financed. Yes, you will have a contract and a rather expensive way out if you're not happy. You'll always be into T-Mo for more than the phone is worth. This is the crap that T-Mo pulls with their lies and deceit.

:-/ You could save tons if you just buy smart. Go to the unsubsidized pricing then when it comes time to purchase a new phone buy a used iPhone/Android phone off Craigslist, or buy a new Nexus, a Moto X, a Moto G, or buy a BLU phone.... All ways will save you hundreds of dollars. Enough to buy a Nexus 7....

That's a good deal for 2.5GB. How's the data speed and call reliability?

Well I feel bad for all of you AT&T subscribers: new and old.

It's a miracle how a company can charge for service it never provides!

I couldn't find these rates in the AT&T website yet.

If coverage is important, T-mobile will have a hard time, because now its prices are not $20 but merely $5 cheaper.

For example, I friend of mine just switched back to AT&T, after six months since I've convinced him to switch to T-mobile, because of the cash buyout, but also because now he gets coverage in his family's ranch.

I was with AT&T for years, been on Straight talk for 4 months. So it's 47.00 a month with tax auto drafted. 2.5GB LTE, unlimited talk and text. I haven't noticed a bit of difference. I switched my wife's iphone to Straight Talk without telling her, her bill was 119.00, now the same $47.. Yeah...I was rewarded!

Aio is better, same stipulations and pricing (with autopay, plus no taxes), but you get higher priority on AT&T's network and your data is actually unlimited after the 2.5GB of high-speed. No worries of getting service interrupted or canceled altogether like the bullish*t that Straight Talk pulls.

AmericaMovil policies on throttling and their customer service is atrocious. I don't understand how some people continue to use Straight Talk, Tracphone, or Net 10, especially with options like T-Mobile/MetroPCS and Aio (soon to be Cricket) out there.

Republic would be the best price wise with the WiFi options, but that Sprint backbone hurts it.

Somebody should tell mike that Straight Talk is not true unlimited. They have a 2.5GB data cap before they cut your data speed. Also, you can not stream Netflix or Youtube on 3G/4G. Straight Talk throttles data speed without warning.

I did...

Straight Talk is a farce and they're finally getting taken to court over it.

It's funny that one of the two richest men in the world (Carlos Slim) own the company that Straight Talk is incorporated into, yet many people don't know who he is. He is not popular in his native Mexico because he runs a monopoly and many shady operational maneuvers have led to his personal fortune. This is why it is tough to support Straight Talk and it's sister companies among other nefarious tactics that they use.
