AT&T revises pricing on Samsung Galaxy S4 pre-orders; 16GB model will be $199.99 on contract
Back late last month, we passed along to you the word that AT&T would start accepting pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy S4 on April 16th. That part, at least, was correct. But for some reason that may never be explained, the carrier posted that pre-orders would be $249.99 with a signed two year contract. While some were upset, considering that most carriers are thinking about ways to wean the public off subsidized pricing of new handsets, no one thought twice about this. $249.99 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 might have seemed a little pricey, but it could be understood in the current environment.

As it turns out, AT&T wasn't making a statement with its pricing of the Samsung Galaxy S4 after all. The mobile operator had merely left out a few words from its statement. Nothing important mind you, just that the $249.99 price was for the 32GB version of the upcoming Android phone. The 16GB model will be priced at the expected $199.99 with a signed contract. AT&T has yet to announce a launch date for the phone.

What else can they change about the phone? 720p vs 1080p. 2100 mah battery vs 2600 mah battery. quad core vs dual core. The design is different. I can see if it was the same EXACT phone. You people are never satisfied. There's a huge difference Between the phones

i agree but people were expecting a much bigger change i guess. which is probably why some people(me included) went nuts over the one.

Theres not much difference between the S3 and the S4. the fact that they made the 16GB S4 at $199 is a good idea if they wanted to sell them as much as the S3 has been for over 9 months now.

I dont regret upgrading to the S3, but its a great phone for those who dont want to pay $300 to upgrade to the Note II

Well, no one's forcing you to change your opinion on the S4 but you dont need to bash a guy for expressing his desire on having high portable storage!
Personally, I'm still very torn between the S4 and the One.. Its a very hard decision to make. On one hand I'm a very very happy S2 user, especially after rooting and custom ROMing to escape the crappy buggy updates that AT&T keeps pushing out, so needless to say I love TouchWiz. And Samsung's skin is very easy to use.
On the other hand, I love the design of the One (obviously! :D) and the dual front speakers with Beats! (I am an extreme audiophile!).

The only arguments I can come up with is that I am sure I will be comfortable with the S4 out-of-the-box. Once the necessary tools are put in place by the good folks at xda devs, I can port Beats and be taken care of.
The 5 inch Super AMOLED is too enticing! To watch shows or YouTube vids, or just plain browsing. The camera we know is pretty awesome. With 2600mAh of juice, I can already feel the good vibes form this phone. In short, it makes sense for me to upgrade from the S2.
HTC One I imagine will be better for me since I feel 5-inch might be too big for me. (although, this is what I thought when I was getting the S2) 4.7 inches feels comfortable. The design is just drool-worthy. But the camera plain sucks! We haven't seen whether the 6 way blind test on PA was after HTC's firmware update to fix the camera.

So for time being I have decided that I will go into the AT&T store and hold these 2 beastly phones side-by-side and then judge for myself. OK, rant out! :)
I hope I make some sense, and that people dont start bashing me for the long post. Or if you just wish to troll on, its upto you.
Peace.

thats the beauty of competition!! you cant go wrong with either phone. phones have become an investment like a car or even a marriage lol. You're stuck with the contract once you pick a phone and you dont return it b4 the buyers remorse period is over.

Choose wisely because both phones will do you justice!!

Keep in mind that while S4 has a larger screen, it's still a smaller phone than the One.

True it's only an incremental upgrade, but it's an upgrade of a revolutionary device. The s3 set the bar. S3 720p s4 1080p, s3 4.8 in. s4 5.0 in., s3 8mp s4 13mp, s4 exynos octa, s4 thinner too. Sammy as apple has settled on a beautiful design that only needs to tweaked here and there, innovation is more in the software with this model... Did I mention a bigger battery, and improved front camera also. The s4 is a beast... Everyone including apple has there work cut out for them due to the s4.

I'm right there with you bro! I already have a 32gig card ready to go into the S4 64gig model, if I go with this phone in the end :)
Sucks that the One lacks microSD slot, wish it had it.

well I was confused by the choice between the htc one and the s4, the only problem isni owned the S3 and was never a fan of touchwiz, and design wise nothing really change drastically, yes it gives you removable battery, but i never take my battery out anyways, and expandable storage... you know how many times I have seen SD cards fail, as well as sandisk report that there were some bad production on the S3 phones. The One while it doesnt have those things it gives me one of the things I wanted, which was stereo speakers for all the media I watch, the build quality is outstanding, many reviewers calling it the best looking phone so far. The camera with software improved, but I am not sure how much, Zoe is a nice feature and all, I am not sure how useful. Both are good options going to take me sometime to think about this.

I'm in the same dilemma. Idk what to choose lol. Well since the HTC One is the same price with twice the internal memory I might go for it. I have had Sd cards fail and give me problems, and my Nexus has only internal memory which has given me a better experience. I still like the idea of removable storage though... So hard.

$199 for 16GB Galaxy S4
$199 for 32GB HTC One, which still supports USB OTG.

and they say that OEM that doesn't include microSD support is overcharging. Hell, yeah! Shiny plastic all the way!

Anyone compairing the S4 to the HTC one just think of this... If your screen breaks the ONE is virtually impossible to repair so have fun shedding out the cash for a new one

Trust me, if you put aside your hate for Samsung and genuinely look at the handsets, you will find a ton of manufacturing imperfections on HTC phones that you won't find on Samsung phones.

Of course some HTC lovers will come in and lie about having a perfect one, but every single one I have had and every single HTC display model I have seen, and I have seen a lot, shows these major flaws in manufacturing. I doubt that it is a coincidence. And judging by early reports on the XDA forums, the One is the biggest culprit yet and the One X was horrible. If this is truly worse than the One X. I believe we have a new record for flaws.

Just a warning for the people on the fence. You will regret it if you go HTC. Call me a fanboy all you like but my warning is genuine.

I personally think Samsung has the best experience of android. Its the most stable and you don't see as much out of the box failures the way you see Sony and HTC. Thumb me down all you want i'm just expressing the truth. I've worked with phones for almost two years.

A lot of HTC fans came here, why bite on this article if u wont buy gs4!!
go get your htc one who lost the smartphone battles in the reviews against gs4!!
go buy your htc One with 1/10 repairability score, hope you'll not reach $2000 for repairs!
go buy your htc One that w/ 2ft drop, the speaker cover gone out of this world, oh there's glue tto fix it,, buy that super prone to dents and scratches, ip5 aluminum is acceptable to be called a premium build aluminum smartphone, that HTC One is poorly built!!
go buy your htc one with poor camera (accdg to most reviews, dont get me wrong)
go get that realistic display, amoled has distinct quality even not rendering the most realistic colors.. it is just so magnfcnt
