AT&T responds to Legere's "crap" comment with full-page ads attacking T-Mobile's network

You might remember back at CES in Las Vegas this past January when T-Mobile CEO John Legere spoke with a group of attendees to a T-Mobile press conference including one AT&T customer from New York who apparently wasn't happy with his service and Legere made his comment; now, AT&T fights back with ads in major newspapers claiming that T-Mobile drops twice as many calls as AT&T and has a network speed half that of the nation's second largest carrier...

Heh its funny how they are going at eachothers throats when not that long ago they wanted to merge. Not exactly good business practice.. Each network has its own strengths and faults. Although I support T-Mobile with their truly unlimited data, around here their service is awful.

stupid action does not need to be on the news, trolling all of this sh*** are opening all doors and media to pull all atention... I disagree, talk about AT&T and Tmobile about their own xperiences, not about others...

With LTE they are. My Lumia 900 regularly pulls over 50Mbps, whereas T-Mobile maxxes at 42. They're both good carriers, and I would only be on one or the other for the foreseeable future.

Well I can prove it how do u post pics on here ? Att lte does get up to 50 mbps , normal I get 20-30 on average lowest I have ever gotten is 19 something I have never seen my friends get with there tmobile hspa 42 phones. SURE tmobile nhas unlimited data but like my friends say its not worth it when u go out of the city and u on freaking edge were at&t at least has 3G not always lte but atleast has 3G which u gotta admit is waaay faster than tmobile s edge . AND dropped calls I havent had none on at&t they have more dropped calls on tmobile. And I also forgot to mention I usually always have better signal inside buildings maybe cuz att uses the lower 850 mhz band dnt know but I noticed that in places like hospital, clinic, walmart, macys, some buildings in dwtwn LA, elevators, underground parking lots they get no service at all on tmobile while I at least have 2 bars of service on at&t . Soo yea :P

Nobody is talking about LTE. T-Mobile hasn't even had its LTE network fully built out. GSM Vs GSM. T-Mobile is faster than AT&T any day of the week.

Plus Tmobile updates it's handsets quickly compared to At@t. They are just as bad as Verizon. Both At@t and Verizon sucks rotten eggs.

As well as they upgrade and refarm their towers too.I went to Daytona Beach and no dropped calls whatsoever. If anyone had dropped calls ,it's because they use Sprint or ATT or VZW
35. HDShatter posted on 01 Mar 2013, 16:34 1 0
I have had tmobile for over a year and have never had a single dropped call. On ATT it happend almost dailt.

I love how at&t conveniently forgot to put 2x more expensive than t-mobile
16. applesauce posted on 01 Mar 2013, 07:53 2 0
Not quite. For some plans they may be as much as 33%ish different, but not as high as 50%.
21. Bernoulli posted on 01 Mar 2013, 10:12 1 1
Uh more like 3x at times, take for instance a value plan with 500 minutes, 5 gigs of high speed and unlt texting, let's see that's 5 $ for texting, 25 $ for 5 gigs of Web (which are 20 $ and 45 $ with at&t respectively) we're looking at a contract price of 65 $ vs a price of 140 with at&t

Or Tmobile prepaid with 100 min of talk, unlmited text and 5gb 4g data for $30.
For $30 a month
25. ScelesticSteve posted on 01 Mar 2013, 11:51 0 1
T-Mobile service isn't available where I live, but I know people that have it. They could pay $20-30/mo and have far better service. However, they stick with these cheaper carriers and for that have worse service, especially when they travel.

8. Sparhawk posted on 01 Mar 2013, 00:43 2 0
This reminds me of people I knew that broke up after one of them refused to tie the knot. What used to be love turns to ridiculously public hatred. AT&T used to heart T-Mo, but now they can't be in the same room together.
9. keysersozeh posted on 01 Mar 2013, 00:49 3 3
I agree with Bernoulli 100% I've had at&t, Verizon, Sprint, and of course T-Mobile. AT&T has been by far and large the worst carrier out of all of them I've ever had! Especially in customer service and billing headaches they're 2x as bad. Let's not forget they were "Cingular" before, which were horrible, but they dropped the name because Cingular had such a bad reputation, not to mention, at&t didn't, and the name was worth a lot more. By the way, I still have T-Mobile and Verizon for different reasons. But I would take Sprint's incompetence over at&t's arrogance AND incompetence any day if they were the only two carriers left!
11. bigdawg23 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 05:49 5 1
Coverage depends on where you live. I travel all over the upper midwest and AT&T does just fine for me. T-Mobile is by far the worst with Sprint close to them. Verizon is good for the most part. I had T-Mobile until 2 years ago, then a tower near my house went down and T-Mobile refused to fix it. To this day my house is listed as poor coverage. As for speed my iPhone 5 and Note 1 do just fine.
10. Jphones posted on 01 Mar 2013, 01:47 1 0
delivers all that on a capped plan. tmobile truly unlimted $95. att 3gb unlimtted everything else $115 ridiculous rather save 20bucks with B level speed then pay it for A- level speed
12. cjjohnson86 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 06:38 3 2
Coming from someone that has had experience on all 4 major carriers throughout my travels. ATT is the worst, and that's why they are at the bottom of consumer reports.
24. ScelesticSteve posted on 01 Mar 2013, 11:49 0 0
I don't think their service or internet speeds is the worst. If not they are one of the best. However, their customer service is worst. They seriously need to rethink their strategies when it comes to dealing with their customers. Which I think is most important.
30. cjjohnson86 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 13:57 0 0
The reliability of there network always staying connected is the main problem I've always had. Even in the areas with high strength, i would always get dropped calls.
13. papss posted on 01 Mar 2013, 07:21 4 0
I've been with att for a long time and I've had nothing but stellar service and customer service with them. In my area tmob is terrible.. The old saying you pay for what you get... I will gladly pay a premium for all around better coverage..
37. HDShatter posted on 01 Mar 2013, 16:36 0 0
Good experiences with Att customer service? Lies.
39. papss posted on 01 Mar 2013, 20:50 0 0
Not at all.. I have nothing to lie about... If I were not happy I would change.. I have no loyalties to them.. What I do know is that tmob in my area...hell the whole state is just terrible

U mad bro? cause anyone don't want u too buy t-mobile? if u want more new customers how bout bringing BACK UNLIMITED DATA that T-Mobile still have
18. ahhxd717 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 08:34 0 0
Well I'm in the Midwest and TMob is not so good. I used to have it and I had like no service 25% of the time, and this is in a major city. Now I've got ATT and my service has been fine ever since. However I will say that TMobiles customer service was better. I liked them but the coverage just wasn't there
22. NateAdam8 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 10:49 0 0
Still have T-Mobile cause of price and I've had no problems, Like when my friend went to Alaska to visit her grandparents they went for a ride on a fishing boat and even being 14 miles off the cost Alaska still call me and I was in Tucumcari New Mexico....... They went to Homer Alaska
23. ScelesticSteve posted on 01 Mar 2013, 11:48 0 0
That's because your friend was roaming off of AT&T's GSM network. T-Mobile does not have service there.
28. Omarc07 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 12:52 0 0
Lol ur funny u think she was covered by tmobile in alaska like scelesticsteve said your friend was roaming off at&t cuz like he said tmobile dont exist in alaska NADA most people over there dont even know what tmobile is .. Only time I went at&t had native coverage in alaska everywhere we went , the friend that went with me her tmobile galaxy s3 roamed on AT&T it said AT&T in the screen in big ol letters instead of T-MOBILE.
26. ScelesticSteve posted on 01 Mar 2013, 11:53 0 2
I think it's great they got their revenge. That was completely disrespectful and not professional as being the CEO of T-Mobile to call the competition crap. Which is not true. They might have a leg to stand on if they were Verizon. AT&T is kind of like Walmart in this situation, and T-Mobile is Family Dollar. AT&T is everywhere and works, people still use it, but they could care less about their customers' for the most part. T-Mobile is here and there, but not worth having and has spotty coverage.
42. richardyarrell2011 (banned) posted on 02 Mar 2013, 00:33 1 1
At@t is pitiful just as bad as Verizon i had em both. At@t with it pitiful data plans and crappy inability to update devices. They arejust as bad as VVerizon with it's overrated LTE and overpriced network. They both are crappy equally lousy carriers. I kicked both At@t and Verizon to the curb for Tmobile. Least they update handsets and care about customers and it's unlimited data is the best thing since sliced bread. Piss on At@t and Verizon
47. archangel9 posted on 07 Mar 2013, 15:58 0 0
ATT: good to a degree but they suck on updates and CS.
Verizon:Had em back in 2010 and now they just plain arrogant like Apple.Their LTE isn't all that. They have a blackout every month.
Sprint: Don't care about CS or their needs. No early upgrades .TOO MUCH RED TAPE. PLus their 4g is truly crap.
TMobile:Couldn't be happier.
BTW,John Legere only referred to ATT's coverage being crap ONLY in New York City.
33. skymitch89 posted on 01 Mar 2013, 15:15 0 0
They must be testing At&t's LTE speeds against T-Mo's 3G or Edge network. I've gone to an At&t store and tested their HSPA+ speeds where I live and they were about the same, if not a little slower than, T-Mo's network (I don't exactly remember the speeds but At&t was like 5-6Mbps down and T-Mo was like 6-7Mbps down).
38. riggsy posted on 01 Mar 2013, 17:00 0 0
ATT has 34mbps down and 13mbps up here in Nashville without fail. I am using the Samsung GS II Skyrocket and it has been active since July 2012.
44. Forsaken77 posted on 04 Mar 2013, 05:59 0 0
Most of you cheap skates have Tmo because you're... wait for it.... CHEAP. Not because they have better service, but because they're easier on your wallet. There's a reason Tmo is the #4 carrier and AT&T is #2. AT&T has the best phones of any carrier. Not to mention, Tmo uses AT&T's network in areas they don't have coverage. So you're most likely using AT&T's network and don't even realize it.
45. g2a5b0e posted on 04 Mar 2013, 08:36 1 0
Are you kidding me? Really? You have to be cheap to take a bargain? If you live in an area where you get equivalent service from two carriers, you would have to stupid to not take the cheaper one. AT&T doesn't even have LTE in my area, so T-Mobile's data is much faster. Also, from everyone I've talked to that has AT&T in my area, dropped calls are somewhat frequent. To call someone cheap because they took a better deal makes no sense. I would use the word, smart.
48. archangel9 posted on 07 Mar 2013, 16:02 0 0
Well if AT@T have the best phone then how come that the GS III and the Note 2 and the upcoming GS IV first came to...wait for it,uh ...TMOBILE.
And unless you been in a rat hole, the DOJ already gave Tmo their blessing to go ahead w/the Metro PCS merger.Next stop:FCC...
