AT&T launches Sony Ericsson's C905a and W518a
Last week, we reported that Sony Ericsson's C905a was heading to AT&T for a July 19th U.S. launch. Sure enough, today is July 19th and the handset-featuring an 8.1MP camera-has been launched. The device will set you back $179.99 after rebate and your John Hancock on a 2 year contract. Besides running high on the MP tables, the C905a camera also is equipped with a Xenon flash, AF and video capture. It is the first Cyber-shot sporting a slider form factor, and is also the first with an 8MP shooter.

Also as expected, AT&T has released the Sony Ericsson W518a which comes loaded with a Facebook app, and doubles as a Walkman that stands up to shaking. The handset sports a more pedestrian 3.2MP camera with video capture. The unit has been shoe-horned full of features like predictive text capabilities, full HTML browser and support for SMS/MMS. And while there is no Ginzu steak knife, the cost is $49.99 after a rebate and a 2 year contract.

8.1 is way too big for a screen that size... enough said

The screen is small, but from what I heard and based on reviews this is the best camera phone offered in the US.

i think not. anyone seem to remember the memoir? THE SCREEN IS ACTUALLY IN PROPORTION TO THE CAMERA MP.

Well the screen on the Memoir is only 0.2'' bigger. I already knew about the memoir, but I think the SE maybe better camera phone.

You are stupid... it isn't just for the phone itself... this is meant to replace your digital camera, or be a substituition option for those that still do not have a decent digital camera already. Who cares if the screen isn't high def on the phone... this is about taking quality pictures then putting them on a computer to either print as high quality photos or share online... get your head out of your VZW ass... as a vzw customer i am ashamed by your asinine comment. THIS IS A GOOD PHONE, and i hope that VZW and other carriers will start to carry higher classes of picture phones... I have a Nikon 12mp camera that only has a 320x240 display... the phone/camera display doesnt matter... ... tool.

i don't need none of that 12 mp...i have a 6 mp casio exilim camera and it works just fine...i have to agree, the screen is a wee bit small.

Why pay for C905a when the "regular" version has full features? Just buy the imported "regular" C905 version that most people outside the USA has! Remember, ATT doesn't want people using Wifi because it wants people to buy their data plan. Similar reason that ATT does not allow Voip calls thru Wifi using the iPhones!
