AT&T launches Quickfire
Text-a-holics can rejoice once more as AT&T has just added the QWERTY keypad slider phone, Quickfire, to its messaging device portfolio.

The Quickfire was made for AT&T by Personal Communications Devices and has a close resemblance to the ever so popular Sidekicks. The phone, which is available in orange, green and silver, is accompanied by a 1.3 megapixel camera, microSD card slot, 3G speeds and a 30 day trial of AT&T Navigator.

The QWERTY keypad device is able to display messages in portrait or landscape modes. By utilizing AT&T's 3G network, users can download music directly to their phones from Napster Mobile and eMusic Mobile.

The Quickfire is priced at $99.99 after a 2-year contract.

looks like a cool phone but why would it be only 1.3 megpixel? my voyager is 2 and the dare is 3.2 and so is the storm...why would they make the camera resolution so low?

I'm guessing so it could be $99? And it doesn't matter how many megapixels a camera phone has. All it means is that you get to take bigger pictures.

3.2 has a lot better quality!!!! still 1.3 megapixels is in the past...the orange and green colors look gay

The quality is the same until you blow it up

yea and how big do you mean? if i send a 640X480 pic with a 1.3 mega camera and my voyager 2 mega to my email there is a 900000 percent difference. of course on a little screen there is no difference between the two but if you send it to ur comp there is a huge difference!!! still 1.3 megapixels is in the past!!!

Okay, it's not a big deal. Seriously. Do you know that there are actually some phones that still have a simple VGA camera? Anyway, how many megapixels do you really need on a phone? As long as it can take pictures and you can tell what the picture is, how many megapixels it is doesn't really matter.

ok then why is the iphone 2 megapixels or the dare 3 if it doesnt matter?

I don't know, ask Apple or LG! The point of having a camera on a phone is just for quick snapshots (well, at least...that's what I think). It's just that people are now so used to having 2, 3.2, 5, or 8 MP camera phones, they just shun VGA or 1.3 MP camera phones. But like I said, it depends on the customer that buys the phone. And for me, I don't really need a phone with a high megapixel camera, but it's just a nice addition IMO.

so that it can be cheap........duh

ATT has the best lineup now. Hands down. It will get even better when the 5mp Eternity launches.

VZW has a WAY better lineup than AT&T. AT&T has its phones like the iPhone, but VZW has just all around better phones

Does it matter? All the major carriers have at least ONE phone that other carriers don't have.

verizon has more trendy phones than at&t!!!! like the env2, voyager and dare.

AT&T, remember, usually keeps business people in mind, but always tries to have phones that regular consumers would like as well. AT&T and Verizon cater to different demographics.
