How can I tell which one my son has? We updated the other day when backing up, and he now has cut&paste - is this the same update? Or is this a newer update since?

This other version is due to Samsung running short on memory chips and using a sub until their stock caught back up. Another Focus owner will have to post to tell you how to find this on your phone, but under device info it will have version or memory version, and that will let you know how to tell if it is 1.4 or 1.3. Wish I could be more helpful there, but I only know basics. It may end up being important to know though - Microsoft has gone out of it's way to let it's handset owners know that the Mango update will be legacy supported to all W7 devices. If you DO have 1.4, the Mango update may be slow coming as well. That is a big one.
