AT&T says that Big Red's claim that it has the most reliable 3G network in America is misleading and has filed a claim with a division of the BBB...

Ha! Yeah why doesn't ATT put their money where their mouth is and suggest that their slogan of "more bars in more places" be put to the test. I'd be willing to bet that ATTs claim would be found to be a total falsehood.

I'm pretty sure the "more bars in more places" claim is based on worldwide coverage, most of the world offers GSM vs CDMA and I believe this is how their claim is substantiated. I could be wrong though.

Actually you can go to BGR and he has some info on data speeds between VZW and ATT, On download ATT is 33% faster then VZW, on uploads VZW is 57% faster then ATT. Interesting how PA only publishes bad articles of ATT and nothing positive, back to my belief they heavily in trench in VZW camp and not partial. VZW fanboys you can begin the attack...

Att are you kidding me? Alright your a track coach and you have two quality runners. Runner A always shows ups and consistantly delievers every single race. This guy is never late. Then you have runner b who is a little faster but only shows up when he wants to. The term the coach would likely use for runner A would be reliable!! When it comes to more bars in more places, There are just as many countries using CMDA as GSM. Its within one or two. So if Verizon is offer quad band gsm phones that are also CDMA then wouldnt Verizon have more bars in more places? Does ATT offer any phones that also have CDMA? Im really not sure. I guess more phones with more bars might be more accurate. In the end I believe ATT will lose many customers once the Iphone is no longer exclusive. It is my opinion that both Tmobile and Sprint(I cant believe Im saying it either) will gain ground. Tmobile has the right idea in place they just need more towers which shouldnt matter once everyone goes to LTE.

GSM is used in over 220 countries, while CDMA is popular in the USA/Canada and South Korea. VZW did have CDMA in Latin America, but sold off VZW Latin America (which was CDMA) to TeleMexico, which has begun moving all towers and phones to the GSM arena (even though their are other carriers that are also GSM, like Orange) at customers expense, "Your phone don't work, owe well get a new one" is their moto... Again as for service it really your area and what's acceptable to you. For me ATT works better then VZW. I can be at home, my moms house and a few other places and ATT always has service and data (and I can use both), VZW not so much, especially in my home where VZW has 0 bars. Also I need the ability to travel overseas and access my data, VZW not so much. So again that's a personal call, for me ATT performs better through and through then VZW, of course that can change year to year, but for right now ATT works best for me and my family. Now VZW has world phones but they only have the GSM radio and do not provide the 3G data speeds because they are linked to EV-DO. Now they can produce phones that have GSM/CDMA/3G/EVDO but the phones would be very thick (relatively speaking - compared to today's phones). The Storm is a perfect example it's a world voice but not world data. Now as for the data speed test, if you have issues with the results take them up BGR, but they usually tend to be a stellar perform and unbias. As for LTE, let me remind you VZW is remaining CDMA voice and LTE data which means you still have the limit of single use only network unlike GSM.

Miacol.... you are completely wrong when it comes to GSM/CDMA hybrid phones for VZW not being able to do 3G speeds... the Storm, Renown, Tour, and Saga all can do UMTS 3g speeds while travelling globally. Also, mainland china uses CDMA technology as well. So if you want to look at GSM world population VS CDMA world population users... I would bet it is pretty close to even.

I believe AT&T is only referring that there network has grown to what it was before. I could be wrong too.

Well if that isn't the big fat pot calling the kettle black. So they are gonna cry because VZW is saying they have reliable network? Ok so maybe they don't all I know is I have not once had a problem. But AT&T can say they have the nations fastest network??? Maybe me living in one of the top 10 biggest cities makes me a country bumpkin but my phone can run loops around my friends ipod. At&t quit you belly aching when the iphone becomes available for other carriers you are going to become cricket.

it has to be both speed and coverage i know it takes about one minute at it's fastest to login on my yahoo from my verizon phone and sometimes i can't even log in because the network is too busy.

Just Prooves that they Are Worried about Big Red Possibly getting the Iphone. AT&T has to Attack Big Red So they can try to convince customers not to bail from their shitty ass service.

i Have seen these tested by several independent companies and the last one showed sprint as most reliable but only by .02% as a averagehttp://www.pcworld.com/article

Only in a small selection of markets. That study didn't include like 85% of America, it only covered the remaining (15%).

at&t is starting to hate on verizon... verizon has the most coverage and is fast enough. i bet they scared of verizon taking them over, i mean they would get the palm pre, touch pro 2, and maybe the iphone! i also agree with 'YouLostTheGame' i mean isnt at&t's false also?

I think VZW is right, speed isn't relevant to being reliable. ATT should just be focused on talking with apple to keep the Iphone longer.
9. rehnhart posted on 29 Jul 2009, 08:51 0 0
I think for the purpose of their slogan being reliable, means coverage, not speed. Yes, speed is a major factor in a 3g network, but realiability usually infers coverage area not throughput. At least to me.

11. BrokenImaege posted on 29 Jul 2009, 09:35 0 0
Verizon claims that they are the largetst and most reliable based on size and network not actually failing its customers. They are correct in this and if you look at coverage maps, they do have the largest 3G coverage area. Also, you never hear anyone complaining that they can't get on the network. AT&T is complaining because they know that the "fastest network" slogan will go away when Verizon launches 4G LTE next year in over 30 markets. At that point, and with the IPhone no longer exclusive to them, they will crash and burn. I work for VZW and we are already starting to see customers coming back from AT&T with IPhones due to dropped calls and coverage areas. Its just a matter of time.......

at&t can go suck a big one.there network is a little faster at times because it is a GSM network and works faster in citys and urban areas, but outside of citys and urban areas all the have to rely on is EDGE. Verizon is the same everywhere and if you ask me that is reliable to have the same speeds all over the country. And At&t shouldnt be saying anything because half of the time there precious "iphone" reverts back to EDGE service witch could take minutes to load a simple page.
