I can't wait until my fridge sends an instant message to my 4g device indicating that my inventory of beer and cheese appears to be low, followed by a link directing me with turn by turn directions to the store that has the cheapest prices. Actually I live in a very country area, I usually 45 miles to work every day so I span a large distance. I've been on road trips, out of state, everywhere. Never had a dropped call.

Sprint's WiMAX is pre-WiMAX equipment. Not true 4G WiMAX.

I don't know what WiMax and pre-WiMax is, but I know that Sprint said in a commercial that they are the first to bring the next 4G network

For Verizon, the primary competitor to AT&T in the US, the next generation mobile network means Long Term Evolution (LTE). That future specification is sometimes referred to as 4G, but is really the next stage of 3GPP development. AT&T currently operates a 3GPP Release 5 network now being upgraded to incorporate newer improvements in the 3GPP specifications; LTE is simply a name attached to the forthcoming 3GPP Release 8.

Once LTE networks are built out over the next several years, Verizon's CEO told the Wall Street Journal that an LTE version of the iPhone would make Apple "more likely" to want to work with Verizon in addition to AT&T. If all goes according to plan, at some point early in the next decade both Verizon and AT&T will operate compatible networks, just like all the providers in Europe. However, AT&T has already stated that it plans to upgrade its existing network incrementally, which is a much easier path toward LTE than Verizon's plans to completely replace its CDMA/EVDO network with LTE. During that time, AT&T will also be able to continue to advertise a faster mobile network, and Apple will be able to leverage global support for 3GPP mobile networks to release increasingly faster versions of the iPhone

...Hmm...yes some faster than others. VZW - Test networks by end of '09, Commercial release by '10. AT&T - 2014. Verizon is taking advantage of AT&T improving their current network and spending the appropriate money to deploy their LTE network first before anyone else, including AT&T. And they're not necessarily replacing their entire network. They're currently focused on deploying their network now, however they have said that it will be backwards compatible with CDMA. I guess my point is, in the next decade they may have the same network, just some faster than others.

nope, all same s%$t. If anything, they're ALL gonna have licensing agreements. Signal will be a thing of the past.. the future is all devices services features, signal what signal, with every carrier doing the same, the U.S. and the world will be blanketed. Its just the way it is. To the future of, anything your phone can do, mine can do better.
