AT&T and T-Mobile to launch the HTC Obsession as the Diamond3?
As we recently wrote, the HTC Obsession is expected to be the second handset to be powered by Seven, the OS formerly known as Windows Mobile 7. Well, WM Power User got some new info about the phone. First of all, it will be a GSM only device which means the sign outside the clubhouse says AT&T or T-Mobile only, Sprint and Verizon Stay out! The handset will also be called by a different name, the HTC Diamond3. The device will have a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, a 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with multi-touch. The camera will be 5MP with flash and HD video recording. The Diamond3 will have 512MB RAM/512MB ROM, 4GB of internal memory and a microSD slot that will expand memory by as much as 32GB. Our previous story mentioned that the phone looks a bit like the Imagio and would launch in October. Now, WM Power User is talking about a June 2010 launch and since this is a Seven device, it means that the OS should show up earlier than expected-like at the MWC next month in Barcelona. According to the site, the reason there will be no CDMA version of this model is that the last version of the Diamond, the Touch Diamond2, sold poorly.

Really? Minus the Droid, what does VzW really have phone wise? The only carrier getting its butt handed to when it comes to devices is Sprint. Other than that, it seems like everyone else is on par or going to be on par by the summer... Anyway, I really want to be excited about this phone, but for w/e reason, I'm not. I was in love w/ the HD2's style, but I'm guessing I was the only kid on the block who thought 4.3" was a bit too big for my comfort. Huge screen+ small bezel+ a 4' drop= [>

Ok.... so.... who's up for a completely global standard on frequencies from now on b/c i want this... stupid CDMA being 512bit instead of 64, but not the adopted standard... oh well... Let me know how much it rocks... today is my day to be jealous i guess.

LTE is soon to be that global standard; probably after 10 years or so? No?
