I don't care if this deal will cure cancer I don't want it to happen. I like t-mobile where it is now and I don't want them merging with AT&T I can only see my speeds decreasing. Not to mention I plan to get the sidekick 4g and I'm afraid they'll start charging me their ridiculously high price for tethering. I'd rather be shot in the face with rock salt then to have to deal with all of AT&T's problems... not to mention I can't imagine how people must feel if they switched from AT&T to T-mobile.

I just heard about this when I came into work. I was one of those that left ATT to Tmobile in search of a fast network, and better pricing.... I can only imagine what would happen if ATT took over. However, that being said, the only reason I left ATT was because of pricing. I wouldn't mind going back... Just as long as my speeds remained the same.

At&t is in many ways like the Government... They have three times the customers and eight times the employees compared to T-Mobile. The At&t employees are unionized and that being said will never give you a customer service experience like T-Mobile does. Unionized employees do the minimum just to keep their jobs... I see it all the time... Because of the cost of this deal and the unionized work force... More jobs will go to INDIA....

I cannot speak for the workers in the tech field but from the customer service side I can assure you "the minimum" is not what we do. There are 25-50 mandatory phrases and actions required on each call, and almost none of them actually solve any real problems. So we do those mandatory things, then actually try to resolve the issue on our own. Of course in order to do that we exceed every call limitation goal that the company sets so we're all on performance disciplines. Without the union, I can only imagine it would be much worse. Not to mention we would have half the paid time off we currently have (they've already taken half our insurance coverage, doubled our premiums, and reduced our sick time by 70%) which is important since this is the kind of job that causes a nervous breakdown easily. Everyone complains about customer service, yet we cannot do anything to defend ourselves or actually solve the problem. Then after getting crapped on by the customer, we get crapped on by the employer we work for. The calls that are monitored are done so by employees in India or Pakistan. Yes, we're coached in the way to provide customer service by people that know very little english and even less about american customs and culture. Those jobs were not unionized, and AT&T moved them. Do away with the union, and your first point of contact will be "Peggy" like on the commercial.

if it wasnt for the unions forcing extra benefits and those things like extended vacations and over sized benefit plans, you wouldnt be getting anything "reduced". I know of ATT's old benefit structure. It was quite nice. Your just getting things reduced down to a more normal size. The "union" also does as little as it can in defending its union members. You pay in a lot to get a little back.
ATT cant drop their prices if they cant control their costs... and the biggest cost is employee benefits.

another point to concider. ATT is the only unionized cell company of the major carriers. It is also consistantly the worst in customer service and the highest in pricing (yet VZW is more profitable.. go figure).
Unions fight changing rules, even if they are better for the company.

ok i am one of those customer service works and trust me i do my job its att policy based on dumb ass surveys and what att thinks customters want is why customer service is the way it is

I stand against unions, I find them a waste of money on the employees part. I think that it is also the reason why att measures performance on a certain set of issues so they can see what they are getting for the money they spend on employees. Also we are not talking about the cost to the company and customers because the need a union. Verizon does not have a union and they seem to be doing fine as does T-Mobile.

ATT is promising all kinds of things now, before it;s approved. But then afterwards, they will have one excuse after another as to why they aren't providing anything buy higher prices.

I think people are only upset at this merger and only seeing the negative because it's AT&T buying T-Mobile. But come on people, AT&T was the only option T-Mobile really had. Majority of the carriers in the US are CDMA, so it would've made ZERO sense for Sprint to buy T-Mobile. People need to start looking at the positive instead of the negatives. AT&T will now double their 4G output thanks to this merger and that means better coverage for all of America. And there is still competition because now it's AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular (if you only want to include contract carriers) and Lord knows how many other smaller regional prepaid/contract-free carriers. Besides, Verizon wasn't able to buy all of Alltel, so there's probably a chance that AT&T won't be able to buy all of T-Mobile. *sighs* Just wait until the deal fall through and see the improvements before bashing this buyout just because it's AT&T.

I agree with Jyakotu. Whenever people see the name AT&T they get their panties in a bunch. All people do on this site is conform with one another. T-Mobile doesn't have Godly customer service. I actually had my worse customer service experience with them. Never had an issue with AT&T. As far as higher prices go, I pay less than friends on T-Mobile and other carriers. And yes I have 4-5 bars 3g constantly.

What you experienced through T-Mobile's customer service was an anomaly not the trend. T-Mobile has had THE best customer service 8 years in a row by GD powers. Let me repeat that: BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE 8 YEARS IN A ROW.

I forgot T-mobile had Unlimited Mobile to Any Mobile and rollove minutes. Oh wait, they don't. All the complaining about AT&T, but these T-mobile customers will be very happy with what comes of it. Now they can actually leave a Metro area and have some coverage. This I know because I use to work for both and have had both services. And last I checked, AT&T had the fastest data network perj government speed tests, so don't always believe what Catherine Zeta Jones says.

For your info. T-Mobile had the fasted speeds in recent data gathering from all over the nation. And as well as coverage although I will admit some areas in rural parts are shady to none, T-Mobile isn't by far any worse than AT&T. Rollover means nothing for people that don't exceed their limit and T-Mobile offers some the least expensive plans than any other carrier.

roll over means you are paying too much for your plan. that is all. its a trick ATT uses to convince people they need more than they do, so that way they can save up minutes for an "emergency". well guess what.. the 20-40 bux a month you save on the same plan (or better) with Tmobile is still cheaper than 5 bux in overages once a year from not having roll over.
1500min with unl text n unl smartphone web for 79.99. Or family 3k mins with unl text/web for 149.99.. How does ATT compare with that? Oh they dont.. right. Ill take that over Roll over.
Besides, Tmobile's "4g" network is the speed champ at 21mb/s. ATT's crap attempt only goes up to about 12-13mb/s. Tmobile is also upgrading to 44mb/s next month to stay ahead of LTE... ATT has nothing compared to them.

i think it is a great move for att and tmobile. the coverage of tmobile is at best none and by being with att will add much coverage to tmobile customers. congrads att and tmobile great idea. watch out verizon

Looks like all the "union" AT&T employees got off work and came here to defend the awesome, customer friendly empire that they worship and love. The only thing Verizon needs to "watch out" for is the stampede of customers it will pick up off this deal, same goes for Sprint. And, if business doesn't go directly to Sprint & Verizon, their MVNO's and prepaid services will definitely pick it up. AT&T is run and operated by Fucktards, and if you brag about working for them, you need some help. Proof is in the numbers, AT&T has the worst customer service and the most dropped call ratio of any carrier. Fuck outta' here with your Blue and Orange Kool-Aid.

I am a current unsatisfied AT&T customer. I have never had a single customer relation problem that didn't shoot my afternoon and force me to at least two reps. I have seen bumps in my rates, even without bumps in our service or devices (though to be fair the pricing I have done tells me Verizon will cost more). But the coverage in my little central IL town is only fair, heaven help ya if you want to make a phone call in our local Wal-mart or several other indoor structures. I have been respectfully jealous of those with T-Mobile, as their speeds, prices, reception and device choices are all very impressive, and they are not here in my area. I would LOVE to think that the best of both companies rub off on each other, and almost would consider seeing how things shake out. But, it just seems the larger the company, the less personnel, the less efficient, and the less effective it becomes. Add in AT&T trying to manage the computer and satellite companies on top of the 30 million (?? I think) T-Mobile customers, how can any small thing like one customer matter any more to them?
