After launching in other markets a couple months ago, the goliath device in the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 is finally coming stateside – well, it’s actually available through AT&T starting today. As if we were all over the whole super large craze, this one seemingly puts those concerns to rest...

I prefer the Xperia zu's design but the screen to body ratio of the mega 6.3 is more compact than the Xperia zu which is an amazing achievement for Samsung. If it had the specs of the zu I will have prefered this instead.

OG Pro is $99.99 on AT&T, and is a much better phone.

I just bought the Mega 6.3 today and let me tell you the Mega is every bit as fast as the G pro, just because the benchmarks don't indicated that doesn't mean the G pro is faster, in fact, I think the browser on the Mega is faster than G pro because when I had them side by side the Mega won the majority of the time, yes the G pro has a 1080p screen, but the Mega has almost an inch on the G pro and that was the deal beaker for me, I watch a lot of YouTube and the Mega is the ultimate YouTube phone.

Glad you like it, but the only area the Mega can claim a win is in screen size. Both run 1.7 GHz processors, but the OGP is running the newer, quad-core Snapdragon 600, while the Mega has a dual-core. The Mega has 1.5GB RAM, while the OGP has 2GB RAM. The OGP scores almost 19,000 on AnTuTu, and the Mega scores 13,000. The OGP haste better cameras, by a long shot. So, when I say the OGP is better, I have empirical evidence to back that up, even if the OGP was $50 more, instead of $50 less.

I agree, I went and compared the two of them on Friday, and I decided on the G Pro. Gorgeous screen, perfect size, wireless charging, awesome camera, and the price off contract was 399.99, which is a steal. The Mega is a good deal, but the size is just too much.

Yeah, the Mega has the size, but nothing else. The OG Pro is one of the best values on the market, if not the best.

Yes but, think of all the fun you can have with that extra inch (almost).

"Another thing that we realize is its slower responsiveness, which isn’t bad per se, but noticeably lagging compared to the Galaxy S4"- oh common!! 1.7Ghz dual core processor with 1.5GB RAM and still lag?? I just want to buy a lag free android device to replace my Xperia E (4.1JB in 512mb ram is killing it!!). I cant afford the s4 or other flagships! Is project butter really doing something??

Yes Project Butter made a difference. I would look at other reviews for this phone. You can't compare it to the S4, they aren't in the same class. This is a mid range phone with a huge screen. I'm interested in this phone because 4.7 is too small for me now, and 5 inches just isn't much bigger. I don't care about all of the extra feature the S4 has, I wouldn't use them.

Okay (thank me later), unlike the writer I have laid my hands-on it and, it is HUUUGE; makes my Galaxy Note 2 feel like a certain 4-inch phone that shall remain nameless forevermore (said the Raven). But, i Digress, I just left an AT&T store here in old NYC, man I would want this just for the screen size!!!! Massive! On a sidenote, someone in the store (can't say who or which one) gave me some interesting info on the Galaxy Note 3: Samsung is keeping it so tight-lipped (until September 4) that when they shot the promo marketing video for the Note 3 only 4 people were allowed in the room. Among the info, possibly 16MP Main camera with Octo-Core CPU (we already knew that one); true HD display and screen size comparable to 6.3 Mega. My advice: WAIT!!!
(But, don't iWait!)

How reliable is the 16mp camera source, also screen size comparable to the mega 6.3 probably means a 6 inch version probably because Samsung is feeling the heat from HTC/Nokia and other anonymous OEMs from China for the growing phablet market.

Soon others will follow and you will then say it's perfect.

There is no lag on my Nexus 4. Its the OEM's skin they over lay on top of Android that makes some things lag.

I have the international version of this phone and I don't find it laggy at all. Just disable the features you don't need and change the launcher to Nova.
9. timukh (Posts: 134; Member since: 04 Feb 2013)
In my country the nexus 4 is not subsidized so it costs as much as flagships. And i knw that stock android is so much better but unfortunately i cant afford that much. $300 max is all I can afford and all the devices in that range lags too much! So i am kind of stuck with my xperia it seems :/

I hope Note3 wont be same design like this.

The Note 3 will be nothing like this sporting a Quad core, 3GB Ram and other features so rest assured it wont be. This looks like Samsung purchased a large amount of equipment for the Note 3 and decided to go with other options for the Note 3 and designed a quick model to dump the hardware.

I always wondered how much does John VVV gets paid reviewing a phone traveling around the world and be able too pay for his home.

If this phone has better specs, i wouldve bought this phone. I'll wait for the Note 3

It just looks plain ridiculous hanging out by the other real phones at AT&T. They should really put it next to the other Tablets where it belongs.

You are jealous because your brand is not there.
