AT&T has confirmed that the Moto X will cost $575 without a contract, and that's for the 16 GB version. The 32 GB one will run you $629, or in line with all current flagship phones, just like the $200 contract price for the basic Moto X jibes with what we are used to pay for the latest and greatest...

1. He is giving his own opinion. No need to be rude about it.
2. Because people have proven time and again that OS matters A LOT ! Doesn't matter if it is a great hardware but the fact is people love freedom ! It is thats why android has 80% of the market and Windows has 3%. It is thats why people loved Symbian. It is thats why Windows is so successful in PCs and not Mac.

I have used all 3 sorry but WP8 is worse than IOS. I hate that OS so much i refuse to ever own a WP8 device, android gingerbread had more functionality than that piece of crap WP8.

The problem with Moto is its using my space as an os with moldy grid icons

No thanks, as the camera is the least used function of my phone and i hate win 8 with a passion

I still don't get why Motorola would give any kind of exclusivity to a carrier for this phone. I know it's only temporary, but one would think they would allow all carriers to have access to the various color options so as to sell the most number of phones.

this phone was supposed to be all about price, even if "designed in the US" this should have a competitive price, 500+ off contract its not it, I wold recommend N4 over this and everyone know my PUBLIC HATE on LG smartphones
56. protozeloz (Posts: 5284; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
Reviews will give the final verdict, but its not looking good in my eyes, in my opinion this prone should start 99 on contract
They aren't competing in terms of specks, experience can be subjective, camera has yet to prove itself (will see how it compares latter on) and they expect people to cough up money for it? The galaxy s4 Google play edition costs a few more bucks has nearly the same experience and a proven camera

I expected a much more powerful device from moto spec wise
90. protozeloz (Posts: 5284; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
My issue was not the specks, I was expecting a competitive device, we knew it was going to be dual core and everything but our hope was a decent price $350-400 would have been great but its $175 too much I wanted to see a device I could say I would buy it and the new nexus 7 for the price of an unlocked phone :<

...Wonder why it took 1 day to announce the OFF-Contract price? Maybe they suspected that it was gonna KILL that big launch party in New York???? Mid-Range specs for TOP-OF-THE-LINE price = RIPP-OFF!!!!!
36. Mass88 (Posts: 47; Member since: 06 Jan 2012)
I still have my Galaxy Nexus that I bought right when it came out for Verizon in December of 2011. It still runs very well and smooth with a dual core processor. It runs as good as my friend's S4 does and I don't have to deal with the Samsung Skin (not a fan personally). I don't get the hate against the X because it lacks a quad core processor when a dual core can run 4.2.2 just fine.

Moro X is a lot of alliby, they want you to ride in the skin of peanut!
Actually, the real reason why it is expensive b'coz the labor here in America is standard.
If they make a high end phone it will cost you almost $1,000.
45. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 5472; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
Y are guys complaining bout the price,? It's At&t contract price. Just wait for Motorola pricec tag
52. roldefol (Posts: 2855; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
Typically the off-contract price IS the full manufacturer price. It's like MSRP for any other product. Do you think Motorola is going to offer the phone for less AND let you customize the case?
46. HASHTAG (unregistered)
This was really going to be my next phone because of the rumors saying that it was going to be offered at a very low price ($200-$300). I've always liked Motorola devices, but due to the price I may just go ahead and get the Nexus 4, or even the GE of the HTC One for that matter. I really like the almost-stocked UI of the Moto X, but price is just a letdown.
54. pwnarena (Posts: 580; Member since: 15 Feb 2013)
that's the price you pay for a device that is CUSTOMIZABLE, MADE IN THE USA, with CLEARPIXEL camera technology, and VERY PRACTICAL features (notifications that work only a portion of the display, no touch interaction with the device, etc.)
i'm not sure if it's worth it. if you are a patriotic American, buy it. it's more expensive than other flagships considering the inferior specs. the lower specs make it not so future-proof.
still, it appears Google has no intention of competing against other OEMs. it only wants to warn OEMs that if they don't behave, Google has a handset-manufacturing arm that can cannibalize all of them.

With all the comments about getting a S4 or HTC one. Size alone will discount those two versus the moto X. The moto X size should appeal more to those looking at the mini versions of the two mentioned phones both or which are more or less inferior to the moto X.
To me anything over 65mm wide is too much. Of course this is just me. Makes the likes of the htc one/S4 etc just simply too wide and therefore not even an option.
Still I would have expected the price to be more like $400. Hopefully google will launch it around $400 on the play store after all the hype has gone.
68. protozeloz (Posts: 5284; Member since: 16 Sep 2010)
If I can get it 400 on Google play then I'm into it, also good point about the size, I'm still pissed at the price point, wanted something more competitive in that aspect
79. Emmanuelz (Posts: 26; Member since: 01 Aug 2013)
Moto what a joke you are. Everyone just wait for the next nexus device it will be better and cheaper! Who the hell would choose this over a gs4 or even the htc one for that price and their plans is to release a cheap version later on in the year whats it going to have lower specs than it already has?
85. gmracer (Posts: 19; Member since: 09 May 2013)
I feel very disappointing with the price for me means that the price in Mexico will be 1000 $ so its expensive I rather wait for (lgG2) en check the price. Or note 3 one of those will be main.;)
86. google-apple (Posts: 33; Member since: 19 Jul 2013)
WSJ posted that its production cost is around $225... & contract free for $575... Epic fail Googrola... Epic fail...
92. bikingpadres (Posts: 19; Member since: 19 Jan 2012)
I don't know why everyone follows these leaks and rumors about this phone or any other phone for that matter. There will be one little thing that you see from a speculation and if its not there then you will hate on the phone for it not being up to what the rumor said. This goes for the price, just because you hear it before the official announcement by almost every website saying that it will happen who says any of them are actually right? You don't know until it is announced.
Getting back to the motor x price point, I think the price is really expensive too but honestly why wouldn't you just buy the on contract price point. Even if you think that is too much because the specs are not that great just wait a couple months and then the price will drop at least 50 dollars but probably by end of october it will be 100 dollars which then should have the price match the specs. The reason the motor x is 199 dollars anyway is because of Motomaker and if you aren't on AT&T then wait there is a good chance that Motomaker will be a available on the 3 carriers, Verizon said they would have it soon anyway. So just be patient and if you can't be then buy the phone you think that has the best price to specs in your point of view.
Also if you need to have off contract then just wait for the Google Play edition which will be probably less than the AT&T off contract price anyway (carriers want the most money always).
Last thing, people are also saying that its a Google phone so it should have the latest specs and the latest software then I say that its NOT A GOOGLE phone its a Motorola phone with advice from Google to help people like the phone more. I think the camera would have been horrible if Google wouldn't have pitched in. Do you remember the horrible cameras from the first Razrs. Eek. Think of Motorola at the same place as all the other manufactures, don't even think that they are owned by Google.

Damn that's expensive. Then a $100 a month phone bill? I'm glad I went prepaid with my Nexus 4 from Google Play. I save money and have a great phone.
95. YuLeven (Posts: 46; Member since: 14 May 2013)

Moto X - You have just destroyed yourself!!
98. oNEWorld (Posts: 140; Member since: 01 Aug 2013)
I can get the new nexus 7 and a nexus 4 for that price.
99. Tsepz_GP (Posts: 641; Member since: 12 Apr 2012)
$575 this mid range spec thing??? LOL, someone at Moto is having a good laugh!
Rather get a GS4 GE, HTC One GE or even a Nexus 4, all of which are better than this!
100. trickster_qc (Posts: 70; Member since: 18 Jun 2013)
Too expensive. Should have been 499$ to 550$.
102. bubbadoes (Posts: 307; Member since: 03 May 2012)
want sell!! Too many high end Androids out there to waste $200 dollars on when you can get the HTC One for $99.00 or BOGO Galaxy S4 on Sprint for $199.00. I don't know what Motorola or Google were thinking about with the pricing of this mid ranger..The same ole Droid Line looks weak also, it's just a circling of the original Razr, Razr HD and Razr HD Maxx, now called Ultra, and Ultra Maxx with basically the same weak specs. Get the S4 now or HTC One or just be patient and wait on the Note III, don't get stuck with this thing for two years.
105. alvinsloan (Posts: 4; Member since: 02 Aug 2013)
there is nothing special about moto x. to be honest. for that kind of prince I will prefer to buy and xperia z with full hd or htc one x
106. alvinsloan (Posts: 4; Member since: 02 Aug 2013)
if an Iphone 5 was not a toy app launcher . I would have said that "I will go for an Iphone 5 instead of this pricey piece of phone called moto x"
108. roldefol (Posts: 2855; Member since: 28 Jan 2011)
How is the iPhone 5 any better of a deal? Yeah, yeah, it's an iPhone. But on specs? 4" screen, 1 GB RAM, 16 GB storage for $200. Or 32 GB for $300, or 64 GB for $400. I would never call an iPhone a good deal unless your only concern is resale value.
