A new Froyo ROM leaks for the DROID X
Another ROM, that will bring Android 2.2 to your rooted Motorola DROID X, is out in the wild. This one is courtesy of Team Black Hat, and contains full instructions, if you follow the link to the source below.

Motorola already warned that it is not responsible for any bugs and mishaps that happen to your DROID X after you install any unauthorized Froyo build. It even sent a Cease and Desist notice to those who leaked the first unofficial build. Motorola also played the boogeyman on DROID X owners, who rooted their phones, and installed the hacked Android 2.2 ROM. It warned them that they will not be getting the official OTA Froyo update, when it comes out. So, make of it what you will, and proceed with caution.

...So what's causing you to regret leaving Windows? The X is already a fantastic phone! It's just going to get even better, but patience is a virtue...

Droid X is great if you're patient. All I hear any one complain about is that they're not getting what they want fast enough. Just sounds like baby fits to me. Be patient, enjoy your Droid X, it's an awesome device.

Actually, Verizon has sent me 3 replacements already. The Widgets/Icons take FOREVER to show up on the home screen.I am so SICK and TIRED of the X rebooting whenever it FEELS LIKE IT! And I have to talk using the Speaker because everyone says the phone Muffles. I Never had these issues with any of my Windows Phones. I know it's N.O.T VERIZON it's the Darn Phone ! When is this UPDATE coming ?

Let's add vz is a crap company now. They lied to me about the hotspot (which most say doesn't work) and they lied about the cost of the nfl app. Their sales people say anything to sell phones but vz does live up to what was promised to customers.

Barnacle Wifi works very well with my rooted DX 2.1. It didn't cost anything (but I still donated, c'mon...free wifi!)

@hawk62 VZW is not alone in that, they all lie to you to sell products. That is why I always have to do my own research. I rarely if ever meet a sales rep that knows as much about the things they are selling as I do, and that is a fundamental issue today. Thus sites like phonearena do well, becuase people like us read it, instead of taking the word of a college dropout who is working at VZW and living with their parents.

The sad thing is, Big Red actually requires a degree or a couple years of wireless experience to work for them now. Makes things tougher for us college dropouts who already know more about phones than most of their employees!

Very accurate to say that all 4 of the national carriers will lie to sell a product. It is your fault if you let them do it; be an educated consumer and do your homework before purchasing devices and apps. I have actually put VZW salespeople in their places by calling them out on the inaccurate information they were giving my friends. I frankly have no problems with my X. Sure, from time to time it lags when loading a widget or opening a text... but no phone comes without flaws. @ChineseMuscle, if you use a task killer try using the phone without one. My X use to reboot all the time; as soon as i uninstalled Advanced Task Killer, my phone ran FASTER and has not turned itself off once. Do your homework!

Thank you for the TIP. Going to try it now. But I researched all over looking for the BEST applications/programs to install onto my Droid X. I did come across some helpful tips but nothing about the Advanced Task Killer. I guess you do learn something new everyday.

Yeah, what he said. Removing app killers, and installing Launcher Pro made a huge difference for me. At one point it started to bog down, but tweaking the mem profile in Launcher's advanced menu made it all butter again. Check out this post : http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-general-discussions/67100-keep-your-droid-x-running-sna ppy.html Best tweak guide I've found so far.

@chinesemuscle If windows 7 performs slightly better than horse manure with an antenna sticking out of it Ill eat my hat. Lets remember that 6.5 was supposed to be a game changer, and 6.0 and 5.0.......... Take a good look at what they have had to do to get devs for apps. Plus Samsung is going to be the big pusher of these? Anyone remember a good high end phone that they made? Anyone?

The Fascinate is pretty amazing if you haven't seen it yet. And it may just be a feature phone, but the Eternity was a great device as well!

I actually made the switch to Android from the Samsung Omnia... The First Omnia. And I didn't install 6.5 onto the device because it wasn't OFFICIALLY RELEASED for it. I wanted so much to get the HTC HD2 but it went to T-Mobile. I have been with Verizon since they were PRIMECO and I wasn't about to leave Verizon for a provider who can't even get service where I live ! One thing about Verizon though. I HAVE NEVER HAD A DROP CALL. I made the switch to the Droid X because of it's LARGER SCREEN SIZE! The Droid X's screen size could be a tad larger for me though. I am NOT a tiny ChineseMuscleBoy !
