With Windows Phone 8.1, aka Blue, drawing ever closer, we're naturally getting into the leaks phase when the first few snippets of shady intel begin finding their way into the public domain. That, at least, is how events usually transpire...

WP8 is starting to look more promising, but the lack of developer and app support is worrying.

At first I thought about that too, but as soon as I checked out the wp market, I was quite surprized! There are a lot of quality apps, you can find an alternative app for almost every one that is on ios and android! But one dissapointment for me: no wolframalpha and youtube!

There are a couple of youtube apps available. I'm using metrotube, and am quite happy with it.

Do you use dropbox? If so, is Filebox app much worse than the official one?

I use SkyDrive, Box, and Copy primarily, and have Dropbox setup as a tertiary redundant storage setup for whatever gets put on my desktop.

Good but expected updates. Glad they are doing what needs to be done.

The middle 'slide' is supposed to be the three Homescreens -- the default, center one (those are exemplary tiles), while swiping left/right will intorduce you to the other two (e.g. "Me, share, settings and personalize").
The slides on top and right below, to put in perspective, should add up to something like Android -- swipe from top, you get the notif. bar. Swipe bottom -- you usually get (Cortana) Google Now (on some devices).

Opening Notification center should not be Android style(swipe up to down),rather it should be swipe left to right or right to left.

GDR3 updates are really awesome...
We know windows 8 cannot win.
Windows 9 Can!
My Personal Marketing strategy for Microsoft would be...
1.To create HALO movie series [using all future-tech MS technology, Cortana, 3D immersive techs, etc] excite the whole world to own a Halo Communicator Device[NextGen Modular Lumia Handsets]
2.Provide Free upgrade to all XP users with 12month Windows 8 Trial.
3.Give WP OS free license to OEMs for under $100 handsets.
4.Give WP OS free license to OEMs for non-smartphone devices[watches, TVs etc] later license it for cost W10 after getting marketshare
5.Buy DELL,Blackberry and Merge as DellBerry for Enterprise consumers
6.Openup Bing ads for Indian Advertisers/Publishers
7.Tieup with Indian/all country Postal/Logistic companies to replace old PINCode system with bing GeoCode location services
8.Free WP8 device for any microsoft offers [Certification, Seminar, new purchases, renewals, upgrades etc]
9.Hire all the adspots on public transports for a Year and run offers there[extremely effective]
Spoil the world with offers... Not just in US.
Leave the Marketing to Nokia-esque approach...

OK Cool, but Notification Center pop up comes from left or top or any other sides?
18. bwhiting (Posts: 141; Member since: 15 Jun 2013)
I like the entire new update for the phone but I agree that it should come from the left or right for the notification to make it more different from Android.
I rather have my android device come from the top and then the WP coming from the left or right side.

Nokia's Pro Cam to be the default camera app on WP? Sure, it is a good thing. But I can't help it, I feel pity for Nokia. Most of the things they do to separate themselves from the rest of the WP manufacturers gets integrated to WP eventually, for the other OEM's to use. But right now, it makes a lot of sense considering the proposed bid by Microsoft to acquire Nokia.
Still, I like WP for having unique approach. I just happen to hate Microsoft for screwing Nokia like this

If there isn't an equalizer this time, I'm gonna be very displeased!
