Ever wondered why every iPhone or iPad displayed in an Apple ad or press shot always has its time set to 9:42 or 9:41 AM? Well, prepare to be underwhelmed by the somewhat boring answer to that question...

All of HTC's dummy phones and advertisements show the time 10:08. Why? I don't know.

I'm looking at an HTC Evo 3D dummy that says 10:08, a Vivid LTE that says 12:08, an Inspire that says 10:08, and an Evo Shift 4G that says 12:00

Look at clocks on shop displays as well as clock advertisements (analog ones) and you'll see that they're showing the same time. 10:08 or 10:10 gives the impression that the analog clock is "smiling" and is believed to attract consumers' eyes.
