At one time considered to be the Android phone to buy for music lovers, the HTC Rezound was quickly overshadowed by the Samsung GALAXY Nexus; for a limited time, the phone is available from Verizon for $79.99...

it doesn't compare to the Incredible which i WAS going to get but now i'm gonna have to get a Galaxy S III or something before this deadline to use upgrades without relinquishing unlimited data is up. >>

Gotta do it before June 28th my man. I hate that we are forcing people off of the unlimited data if they already have it, but not much I can do about it........
FYI I will confirm, but I don't think people who preordered the SGSIII will keep their unlimited data since the launch is after June 28th. I will know for sure before then.

I have in writing from two cs reps now that if you preorder before June 28th, you cab keep your plan as is. You are agreeing to the contract extension before the new plans are out.

If the origination of your new 2 year agreement is before the 28th, then that should be correct. Honestly most people don't really need the unlimited data, but I imagine most posters here including myself need to keep it to avoid a huge bill increase lol.

i was thinking it was the 23rd, well that makes things a little better. o:

How does this not compare to the Incredible 4G?? It actually has a slightly faster processor (1.5 Dual Core vs. 1.2 Dual Core in the INC4G). The Rezound also has better resolution and comes with a $99 pair of headphones.
I was waiting for the Incredible as well, but am considering this phone due to price...
12. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
The Incredible 4G has ICS out of the box, ridiculous camera(Rezound's camera is very good though), the 1.2 Dual Core in the INC4G ultimately will clock faster(whether or not you will be able to noticably see the difference is debateable), and HTC Sense 4.0. The Rezound will not be getting Sense 4.0. Rezound has more storage out of the box as well as the sweet headphones.
I love my Rezound, so it's not a wrong pick, per se, and for $70 cheaper on this sale, and if you need to upgrade before the 28th to keep unlimited data, it's a great choice, imo.

I wouldn't even buy this phone if it was free on contract. Junk.
22. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5657; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
clock frequency is irrelevant when comparing SoCs as different as the S3 and S4. the Incredible 4G LTE blows the Rezound out of the water in terms of power, that's no exaggeration. with things like Sense 4.0 and the S4 on the Incredible's side the display doesn't matter especially since the Incredible's 4.0" display will be sharp enough with qHD.

wait just to confirm... are you saying in this article that the rezound now has ICS?
13. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Not at this very moment but it will be updated to ICS before the end of July.
3. Alan01 (Posts: 237; Member since: 21 Mar 2012)
Actually, the latest update we have from HTC (in the form of a time-line) is that the HTC Rezound will be updated in July. We have seen so many dates that turned out to be incorrect, the best thing to do is just buy it for Gingerbread and not worry so much about the update-which will eventually come.

Actually, the only update we have from HTC (in the form of a time-line) is that the HTC Rezound will be update in June-July. There has been 0 dates and therefore 0 dates that have been incorrect.

You are very much entitled to your own opinion, but to say this phone isn't worth $80, you must own an iPhone. I've had a great experience with this phone, and can't wait for the ICS update. Great resolution screen, quick processor, Beats audio, and soon, ICS. Great phone for those looking for a bargain.
16. Synack (Posts: 669; Member since: 05 Jul 2011)
I agree with sgogeta4. I wouldn't buy it either. I have owned 5 Androids in the past 1.5 years. No iPhone. HTC is just not in the same level as Sammy and I suppose I could include the RAZR Maxx. Everyone who has HTC seems to really like their phones but they still haven't tried a Nexus, SGS2, SGS3, Lumia 900, RAZR Maxx.
30. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Couldn't disagree more. I sell these phones for a living, and I think HTC is highly underrated. The only feature the Maxx has that I would want is the battery life. That is it. I've seen more people with problems in my store with the Nexus than the Rezound, and we have sold far more Rezounds in my area than the Nexus.
Out of curiosity, since you say people who own HTC's haven't tried other phones, have you tried a newer HTC phone?
28. sgogeta4 (Posts: 393; Member since: 02 Feb 2011)
No, I own the GNex. Beats audio is garbage, seriously have you ever listened to them? They're more marketing than quality sound. The processor and screen are decent but nothing spectacular and it still has Gingerbread. Plus HTC and Motorola have locked bootloaders, and while there are solutions around this, its community support is far inferior to any Samsung or Google phone. If you calculate the cost per ownership over the contract, you honestly aren't saving much money by going with a cheaper phone like this.
31. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Beats audio is garbage in your opinion. That is certainly not a fact. I thoroughly enjoy it on the phone, and the ear buds that come with the phone are very nice. As far as screen, it's got a higher resolution screen than the vast majority of the other phones out there, and will have ICS before the end of July.

At that time, I compared the 3 verizon's HD phones: Rzd, GNex and LG Spectrum and I end up getting the spectrum because of it's beautiful, big HD 4.5" screen and I got it free from Wirefly. I got it rooted and changed the UI to golauncher.

In my home right now I currently have an iPhone 4, RAZR MAXX, Thunderbolt, Samsung Stratosphere, and a Rezound. By FAR the Rezound is hands down the best phone of the 6 active in the house now! In fact i will list them IMO best to worst:
1. REZOUND 2. THUNDERBOLT 3. iPhone 4. RAZR MAXX 5. STRATOSPHERE
The reason the two HTC's are on top is because they have the best radio performance by far! Alos the fact you can do voice and 3G data is a added bonus! Add the dual core processor and the 720p screen and the Rezound is a STEAL at $80!!! Even at $200 it's a great deal! The RAZR MAXX as a 4G phone is a complete piece of crap! The iPhone is OK if you are into Apple... The Stratosphere was ok until the screen physically unglued itself from the front.... ON THREE DIFFERENT UNITS!
17. Synack (Posts: 669; Member since: 05 Jul 2011)
I really can't believe you just put the THUNDERBOLT above an iPhone and a RAZR Maxx.........................................................
20. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Are you high? On drugs? LSD? The MAZZ/RAZR are top notch phones - above just about every Android out there, except possibly SGS2s/3 and OneX.
23. KingKurogiii (Posts: 5657; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
you are absolutely wrong. the Razr MAXX has the best radio performance of not only all of those phones but plenty of other phones as well. that's what Motorola is known for.
27. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Yeah, I have the RaZR - I have to agree with that.
29. theguero (Posts: 7; Member since: 24 Jan 2011)
You are preaching to the choir buddy! Motorola SHOULD be the best but they screwed the pooch on both the Bionic and RAZR's... As an RF technician I can tell you the Moto's are in trouble! When mysteriously loose 4G connectivity it's not the network... It's the phone! I'm sorry to tell you that Motorola is junk!

21. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)

24. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
SGS3 is 199.99 at amazon and regular price is 699.99 - wow!
25. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Amazon - 119.98 for HTC One X for a customer on a family talk plan wanting to upgrade - that is a great buy!
26. networkdood (Posts: 6329; Member since: 31 Mar 2010)
Amazon - 19.99 for Nokia Lumia upgrade price - great deal there
