At the same time, there are many reasons to give iOS a thumbs down. Each platform is with its strengths and weaknesses, no platform is perfect, as much as Apple would like you to believe.

With iOS 5.0 update, my iPad 2 updated without any problems but I had to try a few times with my iPod Touch 4G. For iOS 6.0 update -- both devices updated without any problems. I really like the new features on iOS 6.0.

This is one area where Apple shines and Google's operating system fails completely -- that is allowing the user control over the OS updates. I have a Moto Triumph on Virgin with stock Froyo aka Android OS 2.2 and I am still not allowed to upgrade to the latest android versions by myself.

By the way, I went to the Apple store and I did not like the new iPod Touch 5G's home button because it of the way it clicks and how it responds. Looks like I have to buy a non-contract iPhone 5 as a device to replace my iPod 4G. I really want that A6 chip and greater memory to power the apps. And you can't find these apps on the android. I've made so much money from these specialized apps. Thank you Apple!

OK, here is the deal:
Android is Hardware designed around an OS, and Apple is an OS designed around hardware.

Pros/Cons:
Apple has a few devices to support with their operating system, but they are slow to implement change because it might break a device that is 2-3 years old (backwards compatibility).

Android, keeps their OS on the bleeding edge, but it is up to the device manufacturers to keep up. The manufacturers build hardware around the OS at the time of release, they are sometimes good for 1 upgrade, but that is usually it.

Finally, the issue for Apple, is that anything with buttons today will be replaced with an Android Screen or Component in the next few years, if not already. TV remotes, Gaming Systems, Smart Thermostats, Watches, Cars Info Screens, Gas Station Pumps, Medical Equipment, Treadmills, Vending Machines, Cameras, etc. etc. etc. They all might get stuck with a dated OS, but it is something the Apple Infrastructure cannot handle (or it is just impractical).

On a treadmill, you can watch TV on an Android Screen, then shrink the image so you can control the treadmill's speed, the incline, or review stats while the video is still running. Not sure when iOS will ever be able to that.

It goes on and on, there are all kinds of Android implementations, even this one without a screen...

I'll read your response.

Yes because Android is 2 years ahead of iOS already so even if it's GB it's better than iOS6. Just checked my server logs:

There is nothing wrong with having the same launcher or what is commonly known as user interface.

Android is different as google is trying to create the wow factor in every major release of android.

Pro and Con to both. Geek with like android new ways to access feature while moms and dads likes iOS easy to use interface.

And u said that to say what exactly? My lint was to illustrate that flash is dying off, android is now adopting HTML 5, iOS has stuck with HTML 5 from the start cuz they saw flash eventually dying off mobile. If u remember earlier this year that day came true when adobe said they would no longer provide a future for mobile flash. My point was not to jab android, jus to point out that flash is leaving mobile.

Disagree, at that time Flash wasn't dying.

"My point was not to jab android, jus to point out that flash is leaving mobile."

And my point was to show that Android had Flash while Flash was on the high demand while iOS never ever had it even if it was in high need.

Really.....so how is Siri working on iPhone 3gs? Better yet, how well did Apple SUPPORT Siri on iPhone 4? They updated it to iOS 6 and have the hardware to work on the devices so I'm sure Apple SUPPORTED its customers with Siri, right? What good does it do to update when year old devices don't even get the features of the OS? That's an update in name only to make the stats look good. Siri is just one example....there are many things the iPhone 4 on ios 6 won't do that Apple intentionally left off to make you buy a 4s and an iPhone 5. But hey, it's updated!

I dont think you guys know how marketing works with iOS and Android.
Apple is the only one who is making iOS devices while Android is made by dozens. Take nexus line devices that come from its father they have 100% adoption rate. its not google's problem that manufacturers are slow. Both are good devices but no reason to drop a ball on android as it doesn spread the as fast because of it.

Surely it's easier to report stories like this when the update is only coming from one source? I'm not being pro-Android or pro-Apple, but surely Android users adopt new updates quickly too it's just that the update doesn't come from one source but from carriers and manufacturers over a period of time, not immediately available to all.

Congratulations for Apple for getting people to adopt iOS 6 so quickly but if Google were the sole provider of updates and their updates were available for all Android devices I'm sure we'd see a similar adoption rate.

I hope the rumors are true and you'll be able to have stock android on the nexus and be able to have the optional manufacturer interfaces. If that was implemented across all devices Google would have it made. Or google could be their on carrier and put Verizon, AT&T and everybody else out of business.
